[00:01:17] We're on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube shorts at Marine LearPod.

[00:01:22] Let's get it rolling. And we welcome you to this episode of the Marine Lear podcast part

[00:01:38] of the Just Baseball Podcast Network recording here on Tuesday evening March 26th a little

[00:01:44] less than 48 hours to opening day and Lyle thought, Hey, New Major League baseball season.

[00:01:52] I'm going to have a new sound as well. Welcome to the Sure My Club doggy. Sound good?

[00:01:56] Oh, I'm glad I sound good. I was going to save that for speak your mind. But yeah. So

[00:02:01] we started to get a couple comments when we did an Instagram live the other day that

[00:02:04] oh, something sounds funny with your mic. And I figured it was just a setting that I didn't

[00:02:07] set right. And then we started to record another episode or two. And I was like, maybe there's

[00:02:12] something wrong here, which, which didn't make a whole lot of sense because I haven't had

[00:02:16] that old mic that long. It's been probably a, yeah, it's been like a year and four months.

[00:02:21] But I guess it wore out one. And you know what? Now we sound uniform because we have the

[00:02:26] same mic. That's good. It's a good mic. I like it. It's a nice, nice and sturdy.

[00:02:30] It's a very good mic. And we talked about at some point I was going to upgrade to get

[00:02:34] the same mic you had because it's always nice when you can sound uniform and have the

[00:02:37] same equipment. So it worked out. I didn't think I was going to do it today. But you know

[00:02:42] what the sooner the better because with opening day starting, what better time? And now like

[00:02:46] it said, we, we sound exactly the same. I will have to get a stand for this thing. I didn't

[00:02:50] realize that the mic came without a stand. My old one had a stand. So that will be coming in

[00:02:56] the coming days too. So yeah.

[00:02:58] Now the goal for both of us is to sound more like Jason Churchill. He gets the crown for best

[00:03:03] sound quality. I was listening to my car. I mean, you get every level base in Jason Churchill's

[00:03:09] voice when he speaks. It's really good. So shout out to him. He's got the, he's got the

[00:03:13] full set up there. But he's done it a long time. So yeah, it makes us well. Well, it would

[00:03:20] it's a great way to end the off season that John Stanton does a sit down with friend of

[00:03:24] the podcast Paul Sylvie on King five this week. He had some things to say or you did a social

[00:03:31] post today. You go check it out on our Instagram and Instagram TikTok YouTube shorts wherever

[00:03:37] you want to get that. If you have missed it, it'll be 48 hours after when this episode comes

[00:03:42] out on opening day. But if you somehow missed it, go back on our page. Allow how to really

[00:03:45] good reaction to that and some of the stuff John Stanton talked about this week. What stood

[00:03:50] out to you the most?

[00:03:52] Before I even get into this, let's preface this here on our little timer. It says we've

[00:03:58] been recording for three minutes and 54 seconds so far. Let's cap this around the 10 to 12

[00:04:04] minute mark because if you let me, I could go for a long time about this. So I'm not going

[00:04:08] to do that. We have season predictions to get to. It's supposed to be a happy time when

[00:04:12] you guys are listening to this. It's opening day. It should be fun. I want it to be fun.

[00:04:16] We're the positive podcasts too. But unfortunately there are some things we have to talk about

[00:04:21] because the owner of our favorite baseball team finally spoke about everything that went on

[00:04:27] this off season and if anything stood out to me, TJ, there's a few things. But if I had

[00:04:31] to pick one, it's the same thing that everybody's talking about. John Stanton took it upon

[00:04:37] himself to throw Jerry DePoto and Justin Hollander under the bus saying baseball decisions, oh,

[00:04:43] they're made by them not me. It's their decisions what they do. I usually back them up but

[00:04:49] it's their decision. That's what stood out to me because Jerry DePoto and Justin Hollander

[00:04:53] made decisions based off the payroll budget that they were given and the premises they

[00:04:59] were given by John Stanton himself. And then he sits on public television saying no, it wasn't

[00:05:05] my decision. No, it was. It was your decision. So don't act like it wasn't.

[00:05:10] So here's where I'm going to start on this. So you're right. He was essentially passing the

[00:05:19] buck off to Justin Hollander and Jerry DePoto. Yes, they do make the baseball decisions. They're

[00:05:24] the they get paid a lot of money to make very important baseball decisions. I hated the framing

[00:05:30] of how he made it sound like it was there. He essentially framed it as their choice to cut

[00:05:35] payroll in the off season and have have these bad optic traits like the Jared Keltner trade,

[00:05:39] which was objectively the low point of the off season made it sound like well, yeah,

[00:05:43] it was their decision to cut payroll. Right. And with no mention of like well, they had to

[00:05:50] cut payroll because the team needed to get better without a payroll increase. The payrolls about

[00:05:56] the same as it was last year right now, it'll probably go a little bit above what it was last season

[00:06:01] what as the season takes its course, they call some guys up. They they'll trade for somebody sign

[00:06:06] for somebody. It'll go above that mark. But I didn't I didn't like how I didn't like how that sounded

[00:06:12] what else? I didn't like how he almost made it sound that like they could have made no baseball

[00:06:20] decisions. The payroll would have stayed the same and he would have been like, okay, that's kind of

[00:06:24] the that's kind of the imprint I got because of like because of the oh, the baseball moves were

[00:06:30] their decision. If they made no baseball moves, then it would be like well, I trust them that the

[00:06:35] baseball people with a payroll stays the same regardless. I will add one last note. Remember that

[00:06:41] John Stanton alone does not control the payroll. He is on a board of people who make the the financial

[00:06:47] decisions for the Mariners. So everything we say here today on this podcast in this 10 minute

[00:06:53] window that Lyle has so graciously given us to talk about the subject is not only directed at

[00:06:58] John Stanton, it is directed at the Mariners ownership group because they are they all have a say

[00:07:05] in what happens with this team. I the the point Jason Churchill can brought up on Wednesday on

[00:07:13] I'm getting my days mixed up because we're releasing on different days this week on Tuesday's

[00:07:18] episode. If you missed it, go back and let's do it Jason's the best. He mentioned listen, like we

[00:07:24] all know that Scott service and Jerry depoto are lame duck for now the third time in their tenure

[00:07:30] three times now they've entered a season without a contract for the next season. And he's like,

[00:07:35] you know, maybe they just don't like this three times in four years that Jerry depotos off season

[00:07:39] plans have gone up in flames because ownership doesn't want to spend who doesn't want to be there

[00:07:44] of that. And you know, when you when you get to put a face to it and you hear some comments like

[00:07:48] this, you're like yeah, I kind of get it. I kind of get it. Here's what I'd say to that if

[00:07:58] the Yankees have another disappointing season. And finally after all these years they finally decide

[00:08:05] like it's time to move on from Brian Cashman and they have to find somebody else.

[00:08:09] Is Jerry not going to get an interview for that if the Mariners make the playoffs again this year?

[00:08:14] If they have four straight 88 plus win seasons and three out of four 90 win seasons with essentially,

[00:08:21] I don't want to say no payroll budget but a very, very limited one. Are there not going to be

[00:08:26] teams around the league that look at that and say well what can this guy do with actual money to spend?

[00:08:30] I'd say the same thing about the Padres of AJ Proler gets fired. There's another

[00:08:34] in a clarification to that we won't know if Jerry depoto will be the four straight seasons of

[00:08:40] 88 wins because there's no chance he makes it to the end of the season without a contract without

[00:08:44] definitively knowing whether he's not he's going to be here next year like either Jerry depoto is

[00:08:50] gone by what August right or yeah, if he doesn't want if he does not have a contract there's no way

[00:08:57] Jerry depoto makes it from Thursday to the last day of September without a contract for next

[00:09:05] season or he's gone before that there's no way that happens. Do they know chance?

[00:09:11] Is there no like free agency hits so to speak like no, not with executives, not with coaches,

[00:09:16] not with executives. Uh-uh-uh. If he does not have a contract signed by like August 1st

[00:09:22] like I think that'd be pretty telling. Yeah of of of either way how he thinks what the ownership

[00:09:30] thinks we because we don't know the terms of the contract we don't know if he's getting low

[00:09:33] bald, we don't know if he's asking for more like we don't know that but it makes sense right?

[00:09:40] If he doesn't want to go he might just say like make like make up an excuse to fire me or something

[00:09:46] like that like something like that but like there's no way he makes it to September or August

[00:09:52] without guarantees for next season because either he knows his market is hot elsewhere with more

[00:09:56] resources or he decides to sign back with Seattle. Those are the options. There's no like I'm

[00:10:02] gonna hit free agency and test it out. He's not a player. He doesn't do that either you're signed

[00:10:07] or you're not. All right so I mean and usually around the early September market is when we've

[00:10:13] seen him and Scott get these extensions so maybe it would be around then and we'll see how the

[00:10:18] seasons playing out by that point. We would certainly hope they're right in it but again if you're

[00:10:23] John standing and you want to keep these guys around these comments aren't helping you just

[00:10:28] heard what Churchill said on Tuesday's episode he said Jerry DePoto is the best general manager

[00:10:32] of the Mariners have ever had honestly I agree with them like like and I think a lot of you should

[00:10:36] too because again it was kind of like he was talking about PacGillic might have had the 116th

[00:10:41] when season and a lot of success when he was here but he sold out to win big in a couple of

[00:10:46] different seasons like a couple different times Jerry hasn't done that like Jerry's put a sustainable

[00:10:51] product on the field with not a whole lot of money to work with. So if you're John Stanton

[00:10:58] like and you want to keep DePoto around I don't know how you think deflecting blame onto those guys

[00:11:04] is a good idea and also maybe my biggest problem with this whole thing is

[00:11:08] if you're not going to spend the money like you yourself need to take accountability for that. If

[00:11:16] you don't want to hurt profits or even risk profits then sure then that's your answer but like

[00:11:24] he wouldn't say that he didn't say that in the interview instead he's deflecting blame if you

[00:11:28] don't want to spend money I think most people know at this point you can tell me if I'm wrong

[00:11:32] I think most Mariners fans know at this point that John Stanton plays a big factor if not the

[00:11:39] and he's not the entire factor because there's an ownership group but he plays a big factor

[00:11:43] into why the Mariners are not spending money so like I think people know it's not oh the the front

[00:11:48] office is choosing to go this route no they're forced to go this route so if you're standing

[00:11:53] and that's your philosophy people aren't going to like it but at least be honest about it that's

[00:11:59] my whole thing because like the way he conducted that interview made it seem like he was trying to

[00:12:03] outsmart a lot of fans and say oh well actually we're doing this but I think a lot of fans know

[00:12:09] that look you chose not to spend money and I think that's the biggest problem with this whole

[00:12:14] interview like you just said it like trying to outsmart people like we're not stupid like people

[00:12:20] people can read between the lines of what like stuff like this means and like either either you

[00:12:27] give legitimate reason hey we're not doing well financially like we needed to cut we needed to

[00:12:33] keep payroll where it was or we fully intend when we get our TV situation worked out that we are

[00:12:38] going to raise our payroll to a committed edge that's what people want to hear for someone who said

[00:12:44] I want to get as many bites at the world series as we possibly can you know a pretty good way

[00:12:47] to do that winning the division you know the Mariners haven't done you know the and like the Mariners

[00:12:52] have not like one a division right under this ownership group they've not wanted division since 2001

[00:12:58] right that's like probably the best way to get so many bites at the apple to potentially win a

[00:13:02] world series and if you listen to John Stan speak he's like hey I want to have a very competitive team

[00:13:07] to get as many get into the playoffs as often as we can so we can give ourselves all these chances

[00:13:12] to make it to the world series well the problem is like the the current allocation is not not quite

[00:13:19] allowing that but anyways back to like back to the the whole smarter point like I'm going to try not

[00:13:26] to like piss anyone off here but like you know like it's like rich people aren't really relatable at all

[00:13:31] really for for the rest of us the 99.9% of us like we're not like John Stan none of us will ever live

[00:13:37] a life like John Stan does he's incredibly successful in his field to do all this stuff but like

[00:13:43] just like just because you've made it like this doesn't mean that it's like like I got like I got

[00:13:48] this for you guys like just take take my word for it and it's like no like I think most of us can

[00:13:55] can see like how the how the cookies made right and it's frustrating like honestly

[00:14:02] like you asked me what stood out to to me the most about this interview and it is what he said

[00:14:06] about Jerry and Justin that's what everybody's talking about what really disgruntled me the most in

[00:14:11] this interview is probably when he said I was just as frustrated and disappointed as all of the players

[00:14:17] with the results during game 162 out on that field knowing we were not going to the postseason

[00:14:23] like here's my problem with that we heard players and how frustrated they were about not making

[00:14:27] the playoffs last year you saw this entire group and it's entire core of players the leaders of

[00:14:32] this team work their tail off to have a better 2024 like in we saw it in spring training they're

[00:14:39] motivated they're excited you can tell all the work all these guys put in the players took action

[00:14:44] Jerry DePoto and Justin Hollander took action they were unhappy they went out and despite

[00:14:49] essentially having their hands tied went out and made a roster that is very competitive in 2024

[00:14:55] maybe the best roster they've assembled they did that with essentially no budget to work with

[00:14:59] they deserve a ton of props like we've talked about Scott's service was not happy with how

[00:15:04] the season ended he went out and met with all of his players to make amends and get on the same

[00:15:08] page with all the leaders of his team he's traveling around the country all offseason goes to the DR

[00:15:12] to talk to Louise Castillo he took matters into his own hands there was no action from John

[00:15:18] Stanton like action speak louder than words here you say you're frustrated and disappointed

[00:15:22] what you can do yourself to help this team is give the front office all the resources they need

[00:15:28] to win and that includes money again everybody else went above and beyond and did their part the

[00:15:33] players front office Scott service and the coaching staff everybody what irks me is hearing

[00:15:39] Stanton say I was super frustrated and disappointed but you have control of the somewhat of the

[00:15:46] outcome of this team and the direction of this team but you didn't take anything into your own hands

[00:15:52] and take action it was just a lot of words that's that's where I had my issue

[00:15:58] so and so the action was the problem and then there are no explanation for that no public explanation

[00:16:04] like he could have told Paul Sylvie listen guys weren't like they did talk about the roots

[00:16:11] they did talk about root sports by the way no one's talking about that part of the conversation but

[00:16:16] they did in fact talk about root sports and he threw out the number you know when we bought it 3.3

[00:16:20] million and when you know as it's currently said it's like 1.2 million cable subscribers with people

[00:16:25] unsubscribing every day and as we've talked about here on this podcast a very famous clip of ours

[00:16:30] where we said well that doesn't really matter it sounds like a you problem rather than us problem

[00:16:34] because we didn't purchase root sports so I like the in conclusion of all this because I know we've

[00:16:40] zoomed right past that timer artificial timer you set I don't think most fan bases like their

[00:16:46] ownership and any sport could you name one like one one fan base that likes their owners the mats

[00:16:53] do they like Steve Cohen spend the last Steve Cohen do they actually all like Steve Cohen

[00:16:58] just because you spend money actually doesn't make you good owner no it gives good indication but like

[00:17:04] okay like I'd say he has a higher approval rating than John Stanton does but like like like

[00:17:11] how about how about the Dodgers and Mark Walter who could hate that guy after see like now that's

[00:17:16] that's a team that took action that I mean the Dodgers with a model standard in baseball of course

[00:17:22] but you know what they lost in the first round again last year they had a roster that on paper was

[00:17:26] nowhere near as good as some of the rosters they've had in the past as a result despite having

[00:17:31] a good regular season a very good one they lost in the first round they said we're not doing that

[00:17:35] again they went out and signed the best player on the planet maybe the best player of all time and

[00:17:39] show hey and they went and got Yoshi nobby Yamamoto for $300 million like they took action nobody

[00:17:45] saying John Stanton had to go spend a billion dollars but there were guys out there in free agency

[00:17:49] that absolutely would have helped this team and they they opted not to spend any money so anyway

[00:17:56] yes there are owners I think that are alike it's not a lot but you some no

[00:18:03] it's pretty low it's pretty small number like I've probably a minuscule number and it all boils

[00:18:08] back to my point that like there is nothing you and I can relate to a billionaire owner in any sport

[00:18:14] any sport of anything like there's no relation at all and that doesn't help like people feel like

[00:18:22] like they like the players a lot because they can relate to them that's why people love college athletics

[00:18:25] because you can actually relate to the athletes because you went to college I went to college

[00:18:29] a lot of these people went to college and they go watch college sporting event I yeah I relate to

[00:18:32] that guy I used to be a college player I used to be a college student but like you and I are never

[00:18:38] going to be billionaires like you can like go to bed tonight knowing that you and I will never

[00:18:43] have that much money ever in our life so like there's no there's no relational aspect to that and

[00:18:48] you know sure that means it could be a little bit harder to actually get people over to your side but

[00:18:53] when when the actions don't give you any more reason to man it just leaves a bad taste in

[00:18:58] everyone's mouth and here we are sitting still talking about payroll the opening day is on

[00:19:03] fucking Thursday and we are still talking about payroll like god damn it like and don't and like

[00:19:11] let me say this too I didn't want to do this like I really didn't want to sit here and have

[00:19:16] this conversation we know we had to because it's in the news people are talking about it we talked

[00:19:20] about it on social media that's why we're sitting here talking about it but again like and you

[00:19:25] keep saying two days from opening day when we're recording this for two days from opening day everybody

[00:19:29] listening it's opening day I want the vibes to be high you should want the vibes to be high this

[00:19:33] team is exciting I don't want that to be buried this is a very good roster with an elite pitching staff

[00:19:39] a lineup that's much improved and this team can go out and have a great year like if you took anything

[00:19:44] out of this conversation let me make that abundantly clear this is a very good team and you should be

[00:19:49] excited I'm excited when I be when I'm an opening day on Thursday I'm going to be excited but

[00:19:54] like I hate the two days before we have to sit here and have this conversation again instead of just

[00:20:00] having all the vibes high going in an opening day we're sitting here talking about it like which yes

[00:20:04] to your point why are we still talking about payroll we shouldn't have to

[00:20:08] and this isn't going to be the last media appearance for John Stanton he every opening day will go

[00:20:12] on Brock and Salk and talk talk with them so he'll be talking with them when this episode comes out

[00:20:17] on Thursday morning so I know we'll see what he says then but we'll find out like I saw Paul

[00:20:24] Sylvie getting some some comments of how he didn't how he didn't rail on John Stanton enough like

[00:20:29] just just a peek behind the curtain that interview doesn't work if Paul Sylvie's not cooperating

[00:20:34] with John Stanton because if if if we're good yeah no and I was going to say like and to to piggyback

[00:20:41] off you King five and the Mariners have a partnership too like I don't want to I don't want to sound

[00:20:46] like the whole snobby media people here like oh TJ and I went to journalism school that this

[00:20:50] and that but I just to like inform people like it's two people who work in journalism and

[00:20:55] and or in media know how it works like there are relationships here I know it's easy for a lot of

[00:20:59] people on Twitter to just say oh we should have grilled them and he should have asked them all these

[00:21:03] hard-hitting questions King five and the Mariners have a partnership Paul Sylvie does that

[00:21:08] like there's a real relationship that's absolutely burned there so he can't do that no not only

[00:21:13] would he not he can't yeah yeah so that's why he didn't do that and you know unfortunately not all

[00:21:21] the questions on Twitter get asked and answered so there's that uh Lowell mentions opening day we're

[00:21:27] going to get to our season predictions here in a second we have a lot of really good stuff we

[00:21:31] have some props individual props we have some predictions for stat leaders and then we have the

[00:21:37] Mariners over a wind total all that is exciting stuff but Lowell mentioned he's going to go to opening

[00:21:41] day and Lowell because uh so Lowell is going to do some man on the street stuff on opening day on

[00:21:47] Thursday when you're listening to this so if you're milling around the ballpark go track him down

[00:21:51] he's in the pen his favorite place in the whole wide world he's gonna be hanging out you can go

[00:21:56] hang out with Lowell but Lowell because the red socks are in town no room in the press box what's

[00:22:02] Lowell gonna do? Lowell is gonna need tickets to opening day what is Lowell gonna do to get his tickets

[00:22:07] he's gonna go to ticket smarter to get his tickets do you need tickets for opening week of

[00:22:12] baseball not just opening day the entire opening week of baseball you should go to ticket smarter

[00:22:16] ticket smarter has you covered with seats to more than 125,000 live events ticket smarter is the

[00:22:23] smart choice when you need tickets for concerts theater shows and sporting events think smarter

[00:22:34] get $10 off your purchase that's code marine 10 for $10 off your next purchase only at ticket smarter

[00:22:43] let's get to our mariners season predictions yeah i'm ready for it and i will say just quickly before

[00:22:50] that like as you guys know if you guys are at opening day send us a message let us know you'll be

[00:22:55] there we always love to meet up just wanted to get that out there i don't know if I'll be in the

[00:22:58] pen all game actually i know i won't be in the pen all game because i don't want to sit there during

[00:23:01] the game but yeah send us a message if you're going to be there we always love to meet up

[00:23:05] let's start we'll go run through some individual props here so i have picked out some totals from

[00:23:12] various sports books that we can find and we'll give our thoughts over or under these numbers

[00:23:18] let's start with strikeouts couple starting pictures here have some strikeout totals that will go

[00:23:22] through fan graphs fan graphs fan dual has Louise Castillo at a hundred and 95 and a half strikeouts

[00:23:31] for the 2024 season lila over or under he's healthy i feel like that should be an over guy struck out

[00:23:39] well over 200 batters last year a 216 i believe was the number if he's going to be healthy in on

[00:23:45] the field why why shouldn't he strike out over 195 and a half so for me it's over yeah give any

[00:23:51] keeps his VLO and then he throws 190 innings this is an over like the if he hits the 190 innings

[00:23:57] markets which i have a really hard time thinking he's not going to know 190 innings so if he hits

[00:24:02] that mark he's gonna have over that and to think about that like his main strikeout pitch was

[00:24:08] again his fastball but as church will said like the change up is such a field pitch that it can come

[00:24:13] back if a guy is or really gets a grip on that that kind of stuck in my head a little bit so

[00:24:18] that's like given the fact that Louise Castillo's main strikeout pitches only is fastball

[00:24:24] but pretend if he if the field comes back on either his uh like to take another step forward

[00:24:30] as slider or as change up pending a little bit of evolution for Louise Castillo could could

[00:24:36] go could make a better case to go over 195 and a half so that seems like pretty much as safe

[00:24:41] if he stays healthy he starts 32 games he's going to hit that number how confident are you in that

[00:24:47] TJ confident enough well we're we're we're doing the big we're trying to you're trying to bait me

[00:24:52] aren't you you're trying to bait me to say something that i'm not going to say again because i've

[00:24:56] gotten crap for an entire year for telling someone to bet a certain important something to many

[00:25:02] people here in this country that i'm going to say you probably shouldn't do you should probably

[00:25:07] shouldn't listen to me on your betting advice if you're going to bet that much so i will see i

[00:25:12] was going to say we're doing the big the big category first your favorite category and i say that

[00:25:16] because for any of you that we're not listening a year ago we did a prediction show at this time last

[00:25:21] year and TJ said robby race strikeouts you should take your mortgage and put it on that so it sounds

[00:25:27] like from what TJ saying the man's learned to be much more careful with his words just just a little

[00:25:34] bit more careful i still really like that bet though he's throwing 95 with a splitter hmm i mean to

[00:25:39] be totally honest if robby raid stayed healthy all year last year he probably does hit it it's just

[00:25:44] it's just even more hilarious that i mean not hilarious for robby raid sucks that he got injured

[00:25:49] like it beyond sucks but it's hilarious for the sake of TJ that he was so confident in that he made

[00:25:55] not even a full start we have a friend that loves to rip on TJ and he took a betting advice from

[00:26:00] him from listening to our show and then he turned around and was furious with him and the worst part

[00:26:05] of the whole thing is he actually like he had an out logged so that meant the bet counted if he

[00:26:11] had not if he had gotten hurt warming up in the bullpen the bet would avoided yeah the rena-therning

[00:26:19] bad luck it is bad luck bad luck and crappy for robby but he's gonna be back and he's

[00:26:24] be better than ever this year another guy john stanton really liked i'll walk to quote i will walk

[00:26:29] on water for robby race so i'm sure john stanton's going to be loving to see robby back down there

[00:26:33] in San Francisco yeah so how about George Kirby his strikeout total is much lower than

[00:26:39] lawis is it's at 170 and a half where you add on this one over under so harder one i'm leaning

[00:26:46] over again if he's healthy he's gonna go over this number but you know George again George is in

[00:26:51] like a total strikeout pitcher like he could just decide like i'm just gonna pitch to a ton of

[00:26:56] contact and work really quickly and get a lot of quickouts and pitch really deep into games but

[00:27:01] only get like seven strikeouts per nine so like i think if he hits like if he's a rat like a

[00:27:06] little bit over eight strikeouts per nine innings which is not like i we love our percentages but like

[00:27:12] on an inning basis eight strikeouts per nine would put him right around that number and

[00:27:19] yeah like that i would say probably over but significantly less confident in this number because

[00:27:24] he was at a hundred and seventy two and a hundred ninety and two thirds last year

[00:27:30] i actually went under for this for some of the reasons you were outlining it's not to say

[00:27:34] George Kirby's not a great pitcher he is a great pitcher he's one of the best pitchers in baseball

[00:27:38] but it's like we've started to talk about over the last few weeks like does he even want to strike

[00:27:43] guys out i don't say that in a bad way now he doesn't want to get out but he may more want to

[00:27:48] pitch to contact to keep his pitch count low and he works deeper in a game George Kirby works deep

[00:27:52] into games all the time and if you strike more guys out you are objectively throwing more pitches

[00:27:57] and getting your pitch count higher up there well least cast steel is the ace of this roster at least

[00:28:02] for now he is but he doesn't work deep into games as often or quite the way that George Kirby does

[00:28:08] because when the least strikes a lot of guys out his pitch count goes up it's natural

[00:28:13] i don't know if Kirby prefers to strike guys out or not if he doesn't he may pitch to more

[00:28:19] contact maybe he doesn't quite hit a hundred and seventy and a half strikeouts maybe it's at the

[00:28:23] one sixty five mark but that being said he puts up a two four e r a so i'm going to say slight under

[00:28:30] now we didn't have innings total such George is probably going to lead the mariners in innings

[00:28:33] this year now that he's in in year three i would i would i'd feel pretty confident that he's

[00:28:37] going to lead the mariners innings this year if if he goes like two ten on his innings he's gonna

[00:28:43] he's probably he's going to go over just based on volume so but if he's at a hundred ninety innings

[00:28:48] again that's a that's a really really close number how about home runs let's go over to the

[00:28:54] hitter side cal rally according to fandall has a total of twenty six and a half over or under

[00:29:01] yeah oh the Kirby projection was fandall two i should mention but yeah cal rally fandall home runs

[00:29:09] like twenty six and a half feels like the bar so i feel like i'm going over with this he hit

[00:29:14] twenty seven twenty twenty two then he let all catchers with thirty and twenty three

[00:29:19] feels like he should go over on this especially when he's only more polished than ever before i'm

[00:29:23] i'm going over yeah i'm gonna go over two and he's also gonna he's also gonna play a lot this year

[00:29:29] like but initially when sebi's syvola signed the the indication was well cal is a real backup

[00:29:36] catcher now but like peeking at like how it works out offensively like no cows like probably

[00:29:41] going to be hitting six days a week so yeah he's going over and he and he hit thirty and like

[00:29:48] five hundred played appearances not even like really like a full seasons or the played appearances 500

[00:29:52] is like eighty percent a full season is usually about seven hundred ish give or take so if he's

[00:29:59] gonna hit thirty and five hundred at bats then he's probably gonna hit thirty this year as well

[00:30:05] so he'll probably he'll clear that number by a decent amount yeah i'm with that there's no reason he

[00:30:10] shouldn't like again plays in a pictures park and he still hit thirty bombs he still let all

[00:30:15] catchers he's only getting better he's only getting more experience we know he hits the ball out of

[00:30:19] the ballpark with ease he should go over on this a lot of these numbers are essentially us guessing

[00:30:25] if the players can get hurt or not which i hope none of them get hurt to be honest but that's

[00:30:29] what i felt like looking at a lot of these mariners numbers yeah i mean that's all props in general

[00:30:34] that's not just mariners that's just bets in general you're gonna take player props you have to bet

[00:30:38] on them to not get injured unless you're john tape order in which case you already know you're injured

[00:30:42] but we can talk about that and speak right actually we're on the top of a player props that's a good

[00:30:48] one i i would just say i had a couple different ideas for speaker mind we might have to talk about that

[00:30:52] okay hula home runs this is by fan deal two thirty one and a half

[00:30:57] i know what i'm saying for this but you over yeah he's he's going over so first of all this

[00:31:02] gonna be the best version of hula we've seen and like when you're in your third season i mean

[00:31:09] you really start maturing as a baseball player we've seen it in the offseason we've documented

[00:31:13] it so much in the offseason and i think it's going to translate into the season as well so he's

[00:31:18] going to get he's going to combine a full seasons worth of at batch which he finally got last year

[00:31:22] didn't get his rookier with a full season of very good to elite production and that puts you over

[00:31:29] 31 and a half because he has the best power on this team so that it's the pretty easy answer for me

[00:31:35] there's going to be a theme here with a lot of these hula o props 31 and a half yeah i'm going

[00:31:39] over that he was twenty twenty in terms of his home run stolen bases in year one he was thirty

[00:31:45] thirty and year two like we keep saying can you go forty forty in year three i wouldn't be the one

[00:31:50] to tell him no thirty one and a half he stays healthy yes he hit more than that last year so yes

[00:31:57] what what about hula o's hit props at draft kings they have it at a hundred and sixty eight and a half

[00:32:03] same thing like i said there's going to be a theme here over the guy had a hundred eighty last year

[00:32:07] when again last year was what many call for hula o radrigas a down year and he had a hundred

[00:32:13] eighty hits in his down year so how about in a good year for hula o radrigas over it's going

[00:32:19] to be over unless he turns into berry bonds and it gets pitched around a lot but that's unfortunately

[00:32:24] not going to happen not yet for hula o he's got he's got about fifteen years before he earns

[00:32:28] that kind of respect how about steals thirty two and a half over what i say he didn't just go on

[00:32:37] under i just don't think he's going to steal as much i think they're going to protect him this is

[00:32:43] the one that you're like like not seriously injured last year though i think now that i think

[00:32:50] they're going to start dialing it back a little bit at twenty to be wrong i could be wrong but

[00:32:56] i'm thinking more like twenty five and it's not going to be for a lack of efficiency or a lack

[00:33:01] of doing they just don't want him diving headfirst into second base forty times a year

[00:33:08] i don't know he got forty extra sorry forty extra times a year

[00:33:12] yeah he had thirty seven last year even if they dial it back a little good need still go over

[00:33:17] and then that would be like right there but i'd lean under one thing i'd lean under

[00:33:24] as somebody who thinks he could he very well might go forty forty this year i'm going to say over

[00:33:29] okay and hey if they wants to keep stealing graces and he doesn't get hurt doesn't get hurt

[00:33:33] and that's great but if they're actually concerned that he might like

[00:33:36] just don't sprain his thumb or something then attempts are going down therefore his numbers

[00:33:42] going down as well all right all right fair enough i think we've gotten to the awards portion of

[00:33:47] this show haven't we yeah okay the one award we're going to talk about like the big one is al mbp

[00:33:56] this is perfandal Julio's at plus a thousand he is tied with Cory Seager and Yordon Alvarez the

[00:34:01] guys ahead of him are the two Yankees it's Aaron judge and one Soto man Julio at plus a thousand

[00:34:08] for mbp got to like those odds you like it and you just look at like this group that he's stacked

[00:34:15] with so Cory Seager is not going to be a hundred percent to start there is he starting in the opening

[00:34:18] day roster by the way for the Rangers because i know he just got back into cactusly games like

[00:34:22] this week i think it's gonna be close regardless yeah he he is injury prone and he may not start

[00:34:29] the year healthy we'll see so so Cory Seager and Aaron judge are the two main competitors here but

[00:34:35] both have injury issues and i thought we had a really good conversation on our two's issue with

[00:34:39] Jason Churchill about this so like Seager and judge would be if they're both completely healthy

[00:34:45] would probably have a like half step ahead of Julio based off name recognition market name recognition

[00:34:54] market actually and Cory Seager was pretty unbelievable last year so you got to give him that and

[00:34:59] and Aaron judge broke a fake record held by the ghost of Roger mares but two years ago but

[00:35:08] judge is not guaranteed to be healthy Seager's not guaranteed to be healthy especially if judge

[00:35:12] is going to be playing a lot of center field like that's not something he's gonna he's gonna hold up

[00:35:17] well in as he ages into his thirties and he trying to carry around all that weight it's it's not a

[00:35:21] healthy combination so reason why John Carlos stand only DHS now because that's how it ages poorly

[00:35:27] and then the other two competitors are bat only guys in yordan ovarez and wansoto don't now say

[00:35:34] pretty amazing bat only guys and if they have one of the greatest offensive seasons of all time

[00:35:39] they might edge out Julio on uh like semantics and in that but Julio has the best opportunity here

[00:35:47] with the combination of health and offensive output i think of this entire group this upcoming season

[00:35:53] i don't think it's a real i don't think that's a hot take i really think like if Julio takes that

[00:35:57] step forward offensively that we all predict he's going to this season that statement range true

[00:36:03] with that otani guy out of the league and into the national league oh yeah like yordan alvarez is put

[00:36:09] up wrc pluses in the 180s before and has not won the MVP it takes something truly remarkable

[00:36:16] for a designated hitter when the MVP it can happen but it's gonna take something remarkable

[00:36:21] so does basically in that same category like you said yes he plays the field and he might have a

[00:36:25] better chance than yordan with the whole yanky's thing and just again like the amount he walks and

[00:36:31] he's a little bit more of a name brand than yordan is so maybe so does a better chance but

[00:36:35] you're right about Julio to be honest i don't think Julio has a name brand issue anymore the mariners

[00:36:41] it's like when most mariners guys have a name brand issue i don't think Julio has a problem with

[00:36:45] that i think he's the one guy exempt of that category because he is everywhere now he's a household

[00:36:51] mate i will say though we do know who votes for the main theme most valuable player award and there

[00:36:57] will be more people awake watching one sodo and erin judge then there will be watching Julio Rodriguez

[00:37:03] even though it's easy to catch up we know people don't actually take the effort to watch these

[00:37:07] kind of things so it's true and and to your point about erin judge playing center field too

[00:37:12] like the guy was already injured in spring training i hope he plays a full 162 i hope he's free of

[00:37:16] injuries all year but erin judge's track record shows that he is at a hard time staying on the field

[00:37:21] a lot of the time so we'll see if he gets injured Corey Seeker's injured there's a real gateway

[00:37:28] that opens up for Julio here's a conversation i think that is actually a more fun than the MVP one

[00:37:33] we just had the american league saw young race this season these odds are courtesy of draft kings

[00:37:40] so Louise Castillo is has the best odds on the mariners at plus 1000 he is fifth among american league

[00:37:47] starters George Kirby at plus 1300 is sixth and Logan Gilbert at plus 2000 is eight the guys in

[00:37:55] front of Castillo right now are trying not to like you i don't know if you've actually like

[00:38:00] examined of this list Cole Reagan's is ahead of him Tareek scuble Corbin Burns framer and

[00:38:07] Gossman so actually bump all those back one because i had uh um i miss miscounted that regardless

[00:38:14] those are the four guys ahead of Louise Castillo George is one spot behind Castillo Gilbert is three

[00:38:18] spots behind Castillo what is your best what would you say your best value pick up that is

[00:38:25] what do you think is your best for your money well first off i think the only guy it's crazy that

[00:38:30] to head aloes is Cole Reagan who was very good last year but everybody else that's ahead of

[00:38:34] Louise i understand yeah that's value dude i gotta be honest between how high you've been on

[00:38:39] Logan Gilbert will both of us but you've talked about it a lot on these shows you and jason's been

[00:38:44] very high on Logan Gilbert we talked about it on Tuesday he was raven about him we saw our

[00:38:49] friend pitching ninja rob Freeman put out his say young odds today for sleepers

[00:38:53] Logan Gilbert was at the top of his list everybody seems to think 2024 is the year Logan

[00:39:01] Gilbert goes from really good to great this is the year he takes a jump this is the year some of his

[00:39:06] off speed like that splitter we've talked about really makes the big difference for him and you know

[00:39:11] what at those three odds giving Logan Gilbert plus 2000 hundred percent give me Logan Gilbert plus 2000

[00:39:20] Logan Gilbert like Louise Castillo is not twice as good as Logan Gilbert and that's what though

[00:39:25] i like that's not a perfect representation of those odds but they're essentially giving you double

[00:39:28] the money for betting on Logan Gilbert so yeah i would do that too the fact that you know we

[00:39:35] have the three of us on Tuesday show agreed that Logan has the best off speed pitcher the three of them

[00:39:39] which is a pretty like that's a pretty remarkable accomplishment that Logan Gilbert has the best

[00:39:44] off speed out of three top 10 pictures in the american league on the same team so like that on top

[00:39:50] of like if he actually regained some of that fastball value and he's gonna have the durability

[00:39:54] and he's gonna have the control as well where he's not walking guys if he died if he can grab like

[00:39:59] it borrow a little bit of command from George Kirby what i mean we're like this is a legitimate

[00:40:04] conversation we'd be having we're not just being homers here like you guys watch Logan Gilbert pitch

[00:40:09] last year 95 to 99 miles an hour with the fastball the splitters devastating the sliders come so far

[00:40:16] and is actually become a very effective pitch for him like that's what you want in his american

[00:40:20] league starter he's got massive extension he's a giant he's enormous have you we've seen his hands

[00:40:27] his hands next to liel you could probably like palm liels face if you wanted to that's how big his

[00:40:32] hands are so like you should also go watch our social content from Logan Gilbert not just because he's

[00:40:39] very interesting and also funny guy but like i'm six one i'm not trying to like blow my own horn

[00:40:45] here but i am six foot one when you look at me compared to Logan Gilbert he towers over me dude

[00:40:51] like he's huge and everybody talks about that faces Logan Gilbert they say it feels like he gets

[00:40:56] right on top of you you look at his baseball savant chart he is always in the 99th and 100th percentile

[00:41:02] in extension like that is a tough guy already to hit and if he's gonna take a big jump with his stuff

[00:41:08] this year look out dude exciting so now we have some stat categories that i want to ask you

[00:41:17] who on the mariners is going to lead in this category let's start with the hitters

[00:41:21] who will lead the mariners in home runs Julio that's a pretty easy one that one so yeah

[00:41:27] we can kind of rip through these if you want because they're stolen bases yeah also Julio

[00:41:32] yeah there's honestly not even anyone that close but yeah Julio okay then let's do this who's

[00:41:38] gonna be second luke Rayleigh is he gonna get on base enough i'd say probably polonco maybe

[00:41:47] polonco you steal that one there's not many base dealers on the mariners team to be honest no there's

[00:41:52] not the outfielders are the fast guys but like Julio is the only three of the outfielders who's actually

[00:41:57] like a true base running threat like intern for base stealing bitches isn't gonna steal doms not gonna

[00:42:03] steal like probably polonco oh demo dude yeah he legit it's enough he might he might he might

[00:42:13] he's like 20 bags but yeah if he plays enough yeah yeah so okay that's that's an intro i would say

[00:42:22] haggity but he's not on the big league roster on the aisle right now we hope sam gets better

[00:42:27] but he's not gonna be playing to start the season okay doubles i had Jorge Polonco for this

[00:42:33] yeah i did too it's gonna be close with him and Julio but Polonco had a 40 double season in 2019 so

[00:42:39] that's uh he's got that he's got the gap to gap power so if he's not gonna hit a bunch over

[00:42:42] the wall i think Julio is gonna hit too many over the wall to rack up those doubles probably next one

[00:42:48] we've got is walk some curious if we'll have the same answer for this jp yeah we're four for four on

[00:42:55] this i also have jp for walk judging that he led the entire league last year i'm gonna i'm gonna take a

[00:42:59] safe guess that it'll also lead his team as well and then strikeouts i said cow how about you yeah cow

[00:43:08] so i want to say by strikeouts like just strikeouts total cow strikeout rate there may be guys higher

[00:43:16] than cow rally it'll be Rayleigh or unfortunately maybe demo demo well out of the full timers it'll be

[00:43:24] out of the full timers it will probably be Rayleigh and then out of the or mostly full timers and

[00:43:29] that are the part timers it'll be it'll be demo yeah congratulations well he's still gonna have a

[00:43:36] 2020 season with three war so it's fine it's all right he has the 270 first swing best swing in

[00:43:43] baseball well it doesn't matter if you go 2020 with three war like he's going to that's true

[00:43:49] that's true it doesn't matter doesn't matter how you do it just matters you get it done it's true

[00:43:54] all right we've got we've got two pitching totals on here for you who will lead the team in strikeouts

[00:44:01] Luis Castillo okay good we went we went different on this one i said Logan Gilbert okay

[00:44:07] okay i mean i mean there's a wrong answer i don't think i think it can be either of those guys but

[00:44:13] probably we'll boil down to who pitches more innings yeah agree yeah it'll be close

[00:44:19] and then innings we kind of said it earlier but George Kirby yeah it's gonna be George Kirby

[00:44:25] didn't have to thank too much about that one yeah if you guys have listening or watching if you

[00:44:29] guys have different predictions for these totals like drop in the comments tell us who you have

[00:44:34] we want to hear so now let's get to the total everyone actually cares about the win total the

[00:44:40] Mariners win total at fan duels 87 and a half will over or under i've talked about it enough this

[00:44:47] offseason right i think they're going to be a 90 to 94 win team yes i'm going over

[00:44:52] despite everything we said at the start of the show for the first 20 minutes talking about payroll

[00:44:55] and ownership this is a very good team like i tried to talk about earlier very good team maybe

[00:45:01] the best roster they've assembled if they stay healthy yes this team will win 90 to 94 games

[00:45:06] hey maybe they'll win more yeah i think i'm a couple wins below you but still over so over 87 and

[00:45:11] a half like 88 is the floor for this current team given they stay healthy so yeah playoffs draft

[00:45:19] kings has them as a favorite to make the playoffs at minus one fifty five that means more often

[00:45:23] than not they will be in the field i agree with that you will agree with that as well they look like a

[00:45:27] playoff team the roster right now looks like a playoff team the most important one they have the

[00:45:32] ninth best odds to win the world series at plus two thousand those are awful odds and and of

[00:45:41] the american league teams what you got the Astros ahead of them you got the Rangers ahead of them

[00:45:45] you've got probably a couple analyst teams ahead of them i want to say they're all i don't know

[00:45:51] the full list just the ice wrote down yeah i guess the Yankees are above them orals are above them

[00:45:58] it seems right yeah it's about right but the ninth you know somewhere from eight to ten feels

[00:46:04] about right i mean some outlets have had them higher which is which is really cool like people

[00:46:08] are high on the mariners we love to see it i would say ninth is about right yeah how the especially

[00:46:14] given the comments earlier that's right about where they want to be for what the what the preseason

[00:46:19] odds should be going uh going into the season but plus two thousand not gonna promise any money if

[00:46:23] you bet on that but i think loud and i agree that that is about right that's fun predictions i do

[00:46:28] love doing some predictions and as we know me too as we know if they just get in they didn't get

[00:46:35] in last year but if they get in with this rotation this rotation can take them anywhere so just

[00:46:40] get in yeah well said yeah these predictions are fun i know we only kind of do them once a year

[00:46:46] because that's when predictions are relevant before the season starts but yeah these are fun

[00:46:51] glad we did them all right loud let's close out the show with speak your mind speak your mind spot

[00:47:01] that would be unwise what is necessary is never unwise what is on your mind this week

[00:47:10] well we touched on a little bit earlier in the show certainly getting the new mic is one i didn't plan

[00:47:15] to get it i guess last night when i ordered it but i said you know what in terms of

[00:47:21] wanting good podcast content sounding uniform with our mics sound to get a new mic i got the new mic

[00:47:26] that was a quick little one because we talked about it earlier other than that

[00:47:29] i mean you you talked about it i think we got to talk about john tape porter the the fact this came out

[00:47:35] when it did that's what's on my mind the fact this came out as show haze press conference is going on

[00:47:42] like those are those are the stars aligning of the sports world right there did he pull like what

[00:47:48] the Alabama baseball coach i forget his name did last year where he was with they were playing

[00:47:52] ls u and he knew his starter was going to be out so he hopped on the phone and called his friend

[00:47:56] back in Cincinnati to throw an obscene amount of money on ls u money line and got caught

[00:48:02] like did john tape actually make these bets himself or did it was he like texting his friends to

[00:48:08] throw as much money as the books would allow in his props also actually so let's give some back

[00:48:12] story so i forget exactly which props they were but the report is that there were some quote irregularities

[00:48:17] with john tape porter's props and that he would play like three minutes in a game and there'll be

[00:48:22] a shit ton of money on the under of his props they would all hit in the sports are looks like

[00:48:27] oh the most profitable bet is john tape porter under like four and a half points and it came

[00:48:33] it's like uh something's a little fishy here yeah so they haven't given out a suspension yet i

[00:48:42] i'm guessing it's going to be pretty lengthy oh i'm sure they're gonna bring the hammer down on this

[00:48:47] they can't they can't be having this the integrity there's nothing more important than the integrity

[00:48:51] of the game and that's true in every single sport that uh like that that that is played here in america

[00:48:58] like Calvin Ridley for placing one parlay got a year yeah so and like a lot of these guys have been

[00:49:06] suspended for the for betting on like other things on team grounds so if john tape is really putting

[00:49:11] money on his own props then you know like but then again can anyone be surprised when this is like

[00:49:20] when betting is becoming more and more accessible and it's being promoted and accepted like all

[00:49:25] this like that stuff like this happens like can't be surprised this is this is part of the territory

[00:49:31] they're going to be more stories like this that comes out because no matter how many times who will

[00:49:34] get punished for this people are gonna see like the immense monetary opportunity to make something

[00:49:40] like this happen and they're gonna try it even for somebody in the NBA who is making generational

[00:49:49] wealth decides to put money on his own props it's crazy it's crazy I mean and it's somebody that's

[00:49:58] while he's kind of far down on the bench right I get to play a whole lot so still an NBA paycheck

[00:50:04] it's true like the the guys far down on the bench in the NBA make a lot of money so

[00:50:10] I guess that's what I was thinking about again just the timing of that was ridiculous I even said to

[00:50:14] all our friends you included when that john tay news dropped it was like again walled the show

[00:50:20] hey presser was going on or maybe it just wrapped up I said we need a Nick casty on us home run

[00:50:25] in one of these exhibition games right like right now dude that would have been the best Nick

[00:50:31] casty on us home run maybe of all time you know it would be even funnier if that someone who actually

[00:50:37] bet on john tay porter props was epe I will say like I thought we were gonna get a 60 second statement

[00:50:46] from show hey he gave a lot of detail in that statement he gave and I think it I mean we'll see

[00:50:54] what comes out in the coming months but it seems like to me he he's seems to be free of a lot of

[00:51:00] the things people were trying to speculate about I just kind of wish he answered questions like

[00:51:04] I know he gave as much details possible but like he did not answer everything and a lot like

[00:51:09] majorly baseball and the feds will find everything they need to regarding this actually as of today

[00:51:16] I don't think the they've read I don't know if they've reached out to the any any branch of

[00:51:23] the government to look into this yet I'm not totally sure I think as of today it's a no

[00:51:27] but majorly baseball find everything they need to and so will whoever eventually investigates

[00:51:31] this because like they're they're gonna need some answers and hopefully we'll get a rundown too

[00:51:37] once it stuff gets published and they find all the details of this case because I'm kind of

[00:51:41] curious like legitimately how how did they get so many wire transfers through through how did

[00:51:46] how did someone how did a non-owner of a bank account get that much money out like that's

[00:51:51] pretty remarkable so dano doud talked about on mlb network and I started here some other stories

[00:51:56] saying it's it's actually not that uncommon in baseball he was saying for players to build trust

[00:52:01] with somebody to manage their funds and manage their money that they really rely on and really

[00:52:07] put a lot of again the word trust into yeah and they get betrayed now this is by far the most

[00:52:13] public story we've ever heard about it but it does happen unfortunately it's sometimes I think

[00:52:18] it takes guys a long time to notice is what odoud was saying too so that sounds like this is what

[00:52:24] happened I imagine for anybody out there like not to say you would give out your bank account but if

[00:52:30] you were to like give your bank account for whatever reason to your best friend in the whole world

[00:52:34] and you had the account numbers like I feel like you would trust them to not take money from you

[00:52:38] and that's essentially what happened with show hey here he trusted his best friend and he got

[00:52:42] betrayed until you see how many zeros are in the bank account and you're like hmm yeah

[00:52:47] yeah wonderful note wonderful notice anything probably not because you probably didn't

[00:52:51] probably didn't check it and this is uh in summary liile to say checker bank statements

[00:52:57] doesn't matter how much money you have it's probably a good idea once a month check your bank

[00:53:00] statements make sure you're doing okay my speaker mind this week uh on like I haven't like watched

[00:53:09] quite as much star wars recently but bad batch even though I know you haven't watched the cartoons

[00:53:15] really at all right you still haven't watched any of the cartoons uh bad batch no

[00:53:21] no okay some of the Clone Wars released so like like bad batch like they take like they make a whole

[00:53:29] series about uh squad clones they uh that are at that end of end of Clone Wars anyways during the

[00:53:35] third season I thought the first two seasons were actually kind of bad wasn't a huge fan of them

[00:53:39] a lot of filler episodes etc but I've really like really enjoyed this third season I think it's

[00:53:43] very interesting a lot of like little details and I just love how like people have not been a huge

[00:53:49] fan of how Star Wars has been portrayed in the Disney world and how like especially the movies

[00:53:54] the movies leave a bad taste in someone's mouth but man I gotta say with some of these shows the

[00:53:58] amount of detail they put into some of this stuff that goes on in between all the movies is really

[00:54:03] remarkable and I've gotten it's been very interesting to watch this third season because I think this

[00:54:08] is finally when they've really dug into the story of why the bad batch series exists and it's it's

[00:54:15] fascinating and it ties into stuff we saw in the Mandalorian it ties into stuff we saw in the final

[00:54:20] three movies like all these like all these things sort of work together and it's like just little

[00:54:27] like little things here and there and I think with the with the full production arm of Disney

[00:54:31] working on this I think they've done a really remarkable job and the characters are fun too so

[00:54:35] even though it's for kids I really enjoy it if I just started season three could I just start at

[00:54:41] season three or will I not understand a lot of things um you could probably jump around the first two

[00:54:47] seasons like that I mean there are a lot of filler episodes but you do need to get introduced to

[00:54:51] the characters a little bit okay like but as long as there's like one main character you probably

[00:54:57] need to be introduced to a little bit and then there's a few episodes you probably got to jump

[00:55:01] around to get a little bit more background and then after that then I think you're gonna think you

[00:55:08] get it yeah all right so maybe I'll give it a shot oh speaking of TV hey we haven't even talked

[00:55:12] about this off podcast yet like how's the dragon season two oh yeah how did you like that like

[00:55:18] the the two different you saw from each perspective wait a lab or something there's two do you see

[00:55:25] there's two different trailers there's the green trailer and the black trailer oh well only watch

[00:55:30] one trailer okay maybe there's two now you got to go one we're done with this you can go on YouTube

[00:55:35] and watch both of them so you can get a their perspective of each of the sides now um I've

[00:55:42] brought I watched too much YouTube I don't believe I actually know the whole story I actually don't

[00:55:46] know how the dance the dragon's ends if you google it you can see how the dance the dragon's ends

[00:55:51] the lore is already well written out by George R. Martin but I don't know exactly but um it's like

[00:55:59] it's fun to think about like the outcome of well for what's gonna happen this upcoming season there's

[00:56:03] gonna be it's gonna be intense finally like finally they're not going to be jumping around the

[00:56:07] whole time the first the first season took place over like 15 years and like I hate that 10 episodes

[00:56:14] and 15 years no way no way it just took away from everything that made game game it turns good even

[00:56:20] if the season was good it still moved a little bit too quickly because they kind of just jump to the

[00:56:24] point but now we finally get like a season taking place within I don't know two months a year however

[00:56:32] long it takes yeah it's true I'm looking forward to it I'm definitely gonna have to go back and

[00:56:37] rewatch season one before I go and watch season two because it's been what a year since I watch

[00:56:42] season one so I'm definitely gonna go back and rewatch it and you need to go back and watch

[00:56:46] Game of Thrones two and find the part where Jofre is talking about the dance of the dragons okay

[00:56:50] and then you're like oh oh that that I can go watch on YouTube I thought you were about to tell me

[00:56:54] I need to go watch through the whole sees the whole series again which look listen I loved

[00:56:59] I love game of Thrones but it is a commitment man like I've watched I've watched it through twice

[00:57:03] so it's a lot well I always recommend going back and walk watching through the whole thing because

[00:57:07] you're probably again pick up on something else I didn't mention that you missed but yeah there's

[00:57:11] a pretty cool Jofre moment that I was like I remember I was sitting while I think it was like the

[00:57:15] fourth time after I'd watched Dance of the Dragons and he's just talking I'm like said I'm like

[00:57:20] what did he just say mm-hmm that's happened a few times that they just like even though this stuff

[00:57:26] hasn't existed I guess it's again it's existed in books but not on television they just throw

[00:57:31] the little things in Game of Thrones and I'm like oh that's super cool all right well at the very

[00:57:37] least I can go find the YouTube videos like you were talking about yeah it should be pretty easy to find

[00:57:41] yeah well we've got some good TV coming up we certainly before that of all things have some great

[00:57:48] baseball coming up because guys we have made it it has been a long off season like we've talked
