[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_04]: We welcome you to this episode of the Marine Layer Podcast Part of the Just Baseball
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Podcast Network.
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Recording on Thursday evening September 26th, the final off day of the 2024 regular season
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_04]: is where their season went down the drain.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_03]: This is not where their season went down the drain.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_03]: It just concludes the ending of the draining.
[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_03]: This is where, yeah, this is where it left to the drain and went back into the river.
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Man, off days have been a ventful as of late.
[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Scott gets fired on an off day.
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Mariners missed the playoffs on an off day.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Did you get extended on an off day?
[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't remember.
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: It was a Thursday.
[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_03]: It's possible then.
[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_03]: A ventful off days.
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, maybe the Mariners, maybe maybe off days are just bad omens for the Mariners.
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Now let me present this question to you.
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Would you rather have a newsy Mariners off day or watch the 2024 Seattle Mariners?
[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what?
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Having news on off days gives us content.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to say that.
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_04]: I agree.
[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, does watch and his team not give you content?
[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_03]: It does.
[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm trying to think which one has my blood boiling less.
[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I would say missing the playoffs the 22nd time in 23 seasons always takes the kick.
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_03]: How can it not?
[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_03]: And we're going to be emotional on this podcast.
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_03]: But I don't really don't even know how we're going to be emotional.
[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_03]: How is there still emotion left in us at this point?
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_03]: How is the season not totally exhausted us to know end at this point?
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it has, but we're still sitting here with emotion.
[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And how have we just not gotten numb and immune to this?
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, I do feel I would say 90% numb right now.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what I feel like.
[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you have a percentage of numb?
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_04]: It's just we've seen this so much.
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_04]: And for the fact it's not happened on the final day of the season.
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you prefer that?
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Are you kidding me?
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Just has the stress dying down.
[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_04]: But come on, if we're if we're being honest, we've spent the last month
[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_04]: thinking this team's not going to make the playoffs.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, yeah.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_04]: It's easier it is easier to accept when by September first.
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_04]: This team's problem is just not very good.
[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, a month might be short changing again.
[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I think since they blew the 10 game lead, they said,
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah, that's not true.
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Since they went on the road trip and fired Scott,
[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah, that's a better measuring stick because when they traded for Randy and
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_03]: traded for Turner, we started to get excited again.
[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_03]: They were within like two games.
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_03]: We were saying they can do this.
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_03]: So maybe not quite longer than like three months or anything like that.
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, so August would be that road trip was almost two months
[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_03]: ago now.
[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Month and a half ago, Scott got fired on what like August 9th or something.
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, maybe a month and a half.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm going to ask you, should I be feeling emotion right now as a
[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Mariners fan, now that they missed the playoffs again.
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Am I supposed to be angry?
[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Am I supposed to be frustrated?
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Am I supposed to be sad or or what?
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Somehow I find a way to get mad and frustrated every year.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think you know what?
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I think a lot of it right now is less about
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_03]: watching the game by game performance than it is knowing
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_03]: how this organization has made decisions over the last few years,
[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_03]: especially in the last calendar month.
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, calendar month calendar year.
[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's fair.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_04]: That's fair.
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_04]: And this was the result and I would say part of people emotions of
[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_04]: coping.
[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_04]: It goes through stages of of all these things as you said.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_04]: It also goes through stages of blame too.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I really feel like in this now, while my second full season as a baseball
[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_04]: podcast and just a fantastic title to have.
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_04]: How does that feel by the way?
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Two full seasons that you call yourself a baseball podcaster.
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you do feel like a loser when you say that when you say that?
[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, listen, I have openly said on this podcast before when we rip off
[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_03]: a take about.
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Lord knows what and we'll say, look, some of you listening might say this is
[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_03]: loser talk, but let me be very clear.
[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I am a loser.
[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_03]: So yes to answer your question.
[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_04]: So with this coping mechanism, we've seen the blame thrown all around.
[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_04]: We started some of the obvious culprits people blame ownership.
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_04]: People blame front office, people blame coaches, people blame players.
[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_04]: But now we've sort of gotten into the wrinkles where people blame media,
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_04]: people blame certain podcasters, people play a blame the batters I.
[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of stuff, a lot of blame going around.
[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Lyle, it makes things a lot more confusing.
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we got told today that by being sad and upset with the social post
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: we put out with the Mariners missing the playoffs is the reason the team is bad.
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Not the first time we've gotten a comment with a little bit of share of blame.
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Listen to the people in our comments section that are listening right now.
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_04]: First of all, we love you all.
[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Please keep commenting.
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Second of all,
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_04]: if what we say on this podcast had any effect on how the Mariners played positive or negative.
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_04]: We would lean into that a lot more.
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_04]: And don't let you guys go.
[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Lyle, the Mariners are going to win 120 games next year.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Then win 120 games next year.
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Then you're going to win 120 games next year.
[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Everyone listening, everyone listening.
[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_04]: The Mariners are going to win 120 games next year.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Is that an up positivity?
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Is that enough?
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_04]: They're going to win now.
[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_04]: They're going to win now.
[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Best DRA in baseball, best best WRC plus in baseball.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_04]: They're going to go undefeated through the playoffs.
[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_04]: They're going to sweep the Los Angeles Dodgers and Julio's going to run circles around
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Joe Hayo, Tony.
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Or people think were us and our takes a reverse jinxing things like everything we say
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_03]: the opposite happens fine.
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_03]: All reverse jinx it right now.
[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll go full Frank the tank here and reverse jinx it.
[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_03]: The Mariners ownership said they're going to spend 10 cents total in free agency
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_03]: at the next 45 years and they're actually already doing the gritty thinking about the
[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_03]: 25 fireworks I say have planned for 2025.
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: So now that I've done that, now that I've done that, the opposite is going to happen.
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to spend so now instead of 10 cents over the next 45 years it's going
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_03]: to be $10 billion over the next 45 years and their main marketing tool is going
[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_03]: to be winning not promotional giveaways.
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Actually, it's $10 billion I'm terrible at math is $10 billion in a 45 year span
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: even like a reasonable amount of money to spend in free agency.
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_03]: No that's probably way low right?
[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_04]: 10 billion and 45 years.
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_04]: So if you did 40 years, what's 250 million every 10 years?
[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_04]: No.
[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_04]: All right, I'm just going to let's do this math.
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a 10 billion over 45 billion.
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just doing it.
[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you don't even think the calculator on the phone lets you go to, we'll just do 10 divided by
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_03]: 45 or oh, all right, 10 divided by 45 is 0.22222.
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_04]: So then time.
[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_04]: You can take it by time that by a million, time that by a billion.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Look at these arrows on the 222 billion year.
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_04]: 222 million dollars a year.
[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, thank great.
[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_03]: That is enough.
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, 222 million dollars a year and for you.
[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_04]: You could make four years in a row for one so to please.
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I agree.
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you, Frank.
[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, thank you, Frank.
[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Look at look at a couple of ASU grads trying to do math on the fly.
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_03]: We can't even figure it out on the calculator.
[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_04]: How many years has it been since we stepped in the math classroom?
[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's see what years it stepped in the math classroom like a classroom or
[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_04]: what was it like, it would have been May of 2017.
[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, seven years ago.
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you know what by that point, by that point, by that point in our freshman year.
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_03]: We hadn't tapped into the greatness of online classes at ASU.
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_03]: So we were probably still in person.
[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, so the Mariners saved up a few $222 million dollar.
[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Off seasons, they could afford one soda.
[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_04]: They'd be great.
[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Congrats guys.
[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Congrats.
[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_04]: There's been some ideas thrown out on Twitter today.
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_04]: For another show, Tideing Gonzalez was thrown out of a couple of really nice ideas
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_04]: on how to how to make this happen.
[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Who he's already started a hashtag.
[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_04]: We got to get this rolling here.
[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Hashtag soda mojo.
[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Now notice it's not so dope.
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_04]: So toe mojo.
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_03]: S-O-T-O mojo.
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_04]: So his his idea let me know if you need this is a good idea.
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Give him 51% of the Seattle Cracken.
[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Hmm, let's start right?
[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_04]: What is that?
[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_04]: It's probably about $500 million right?
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe a little bit less.
[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_04]: So let's start and then change the name of Remerton to Bremer Tuan.
[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Instead of the O-N, it would be Juan Sono.
[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, Tide's full of good ideas today too because somebody responded to his idea
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_03]: and just said no like no this is not happening.
[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Somebody's being negative on Twitter, shocker and Tide responds to him and says,
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_03]: what have we asked really nicely?
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Well he has to say yes then.
[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_04]: He's going to have no idea the person ask him nicely is actually just a true Pacific
[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Northwester who is probably faking happiness because Pacific Northwesters were
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_04]: P and W or what's the P and W or is there notably passive aggressive?
[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Hmm.
[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_04]: So they could just be full shit.
[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_03]: And if there's anything we know Scott Boris loves, it's taking into account people's emotions
[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_03]: over money.
[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah.
[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_04]: What's your what's your favorite thing you're coping with here after they've been eliminated?
[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_04]: What's really what's really been stewing in their life?
[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Again, I think the biggest thing is how this organization is chosen to operate chosen
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_03]: to operate over well.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean a long time now, but especially over the last year when all the payroll cut
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_03]: back tap end because of the RSN stuff and yes payroll went up this year, but it was not expected
[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_03]: to go up at the marginal level that it did.
[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_03]: It was expected to be more didn't.
[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_03]: So probably that probably the fact a lot of the guys brought in were incredibly disappointing
[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_03]: and and the injuries to the bullpen.
[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Look, this is sad to say, but so I've got the sense already that the mariners are doing
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_03]: absolutely nothing come this off season legitimately nothing.
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And like part of that's off feel part of that's off just talking to some people.
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I've got the sense they're doing absolutely nothing this winter.
[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_03]: And so first off, that's that's going to drive me crazy.
[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_03]: But if that's the case, then one of my other friends said it to me today.
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_03]: He said the only chance the mariners have as this window stays open in remains,
[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_03]: which is what?
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe two more years probably two more years is your bullpen has to be elite and you're going
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_03]: to have to win a ton of one run games because if this is how they're going to operate,
[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_03]: let's see, only way you're getting into the playoffs and making a run rotations elite,
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_03]: bullpen's great, you're winning a ton of one run games.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_03]: So another thing that's kind of driven me crazy this year and it's no fall to their own
[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_03]: but it's just it sucks that Brash and Santos missed essentially all season because this bullpen
[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_03]: looks a lot different right now if those guys have been healthy all year.
[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_04]: The season looks a whole lot different at those guys are healthy because that was the role
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_04]: that the mariners struggled in the most the second tier of leverage, who pitches before
[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Andres Munoz right if they have those to this season,
[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_04]: the mariners could look remarkably different record wise.
[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_04]: They could be a few more games up and therefore be in playoff position.
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, also help the season allow, which I'm just struggling to cope with.
[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_04]: This 2024 Chicago White Sox probably cost the mariners a playoff spot.
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Almost certainly who are the three teams ahead of them right now?
[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Tigers, the twins and the royals.
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_04]: The royals and the twins are each 12 and one against the Chicago White Sox this year.
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_04]: But Detroit Tigers will almost certainly sweep the white sox to end the 2024 season.
[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sitting here thinking that Jerry Ryan's door is going to cost the mariners a playoff spot.
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Potentially.
[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, yes.
[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And let me preface this by saying the white sox are the worst team of all time.
[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_03]: However, while they're not the caliber of the white sox, the Mariners went one and
[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_03]: talking eight in their last nine against the angels.
[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_04]: So yes, they got swept by the white sox by the way.
[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_03]: So the angels aren't quite the white sox but they're bad.
[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_03]: This team score three runs and three games in that home series before the trade deadline against the against the angels.
[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Three runs.
[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Three runs.
[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_03]: So you can look right at that.
[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you know what else?
[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm struggling to cope with the Mariners missing the playoffs.
[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Katie Griggs started the 2024 season as the Mariners president of business operations.
[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_04]: The season will end on Sunday and she will end the season as the Orioles president of business operations.
[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_04]: And there is now a video on Twitter of her chugging out of the Orioles beerbong in the clubhouse celebrating a different teams.
[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Pocies and clincher as opposed to the team she started the season with watching that as a Mariners saying you're sitting in a thing and like this cannot be real.
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_04]: This, this cannot be real.
[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_04]: But oh yeah, it is real.
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_04]: And you know what?
[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Congratulations to Katie.
[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_04]: That is awesome.
[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I know she moved back closer to family and she gets to celebrate a postseason appearance.
[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_04]: But I can't believe things like this actually happened to this organization.
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_04]: I still struggle to believe that.
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Say that first part again one more time.
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Katie Griggs.
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Stardust.
[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, started the era as the Mariners president of business operations started the season.
[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_04]: She was here first female to be the president of business operations in major league baseball halfway through the season.
[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_04]: She's decides to leave and go back to the East Coast where she assumes the role with the Orioles as their president of business operations.
[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_04]: And now there is a video online of her in the Orioles Clubhouse,
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Chugging from the Homer hydration station that the Orioles use after every home run.
[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I just really wanted you to hit that point home, which is why I said you should say that again starts the year with the Mariners high up in the org president of business ops.
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_03]: And the year doing a beer funnel not with the Seattle Mariners.
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I could imagine if Jerry did that.
[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that would do that could you imagine the only way this is funnier is if it's the president of baseball operations that does that like quit.
[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_04]: It's he's goes to another team.
[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_04]: It is beer bond.
[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Come on dude like what do we even say?
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_03]: What do we say to that only only one franchise.
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my goodness.
[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_03]: If we go down this road, do we do we need to start ripping off some some numbers we've come across in the last couple days or do you want to you still want to talk about Katie Gregs.
[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you want to be frustrated?
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Would you like to be frustrated when you hear me?
[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm warning you.
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm already frustrated.
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_04]: So let me promise it.
[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Let me ask let me frame the question to the people are you ready to be frustrated as a Mariners fan when you hear these numbers.
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Offensively team wide in 2024 the Mariners have the 12 best offense by WRC plus.
[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Let me repeat that.
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_04]: The Mariners have the 12 best offense in baseball by WRC plus the royals have the 19th best offense the Tigers have the 22nd best offense.
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_04]: In the 2024 season, the Mariners are first in baseball in ERA the Tigers are fourth the royals are eighth.
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Has this team been eliminated for in the playoffs?
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_04]: The Tigers know the royals know the Mariners.
[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I thought you said you were frustrated and we're totally numb.
[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_04]: The Katie Greeks thing really got the emotions going.
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Let like listen to that again.
[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_03]: The Mariners after all of their offensive was now set at least by WRC plus as a top 12 offense in baseball this year.
[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_03]: The best pitching staff in baseball and miss the playoffs.
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_04]: The expected wins for the top rated pitching staff in the 12th best offense in baseball.
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_04]: The median wins has to be like 93 right.
[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_04]: It has to be yeah.
[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Speaking of wins, so a TG and I think combined have four stats to read.
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_03]: He did just what just did one.
[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I have two he is one more.
[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'll let me just read you this one.
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_03]: This was from Chris Daniels who tweeted this out today.
[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, let's just read this.
[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_03]: The Mariners are officially out of playoff contention with a five 16 winning percentage.
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_03]: The AOS winning Houston Astro the AOS winning Houston Astros are at 54%.
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, the storylines just write themselves.
[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_03]: They really, really just write themselves.
[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_04]: So let me get this right.
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_04]: If the Seattle Mariners finished the season with a 54% winning percentage, they would be in the playoffs.
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_04]: They probably win the West.
[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Wow, so maybe Jerry was right after all.
[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, is a Messiah.
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_03]: How does this number just keep circling back into the lives of Mariners?
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_03]: How does it happen?
[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I get how do these things happen?
[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_04]: No, it only one franchise.
[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, real.
[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Like think about that.
[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Like think about that.
[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_03]: If the Mariners had won the exact same amount of games last year as they,
[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_03]: sorry, this year as they would have last year as they did last year.
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_03]: They're in the playoffs right now.
[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_03]: For as many problems as we thought that 2023 team had last year,
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if you run that, if you run that exact team back right now this year,
[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_03]: they're probably in the playoffs that, that I mean,
[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_03]: they won what 88 games last year.
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_03]: They're in the playoffs with that.
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Was 87 or 88.
[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I was just going to check me the previous year.
[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_04]: But you can make the playoffs.
[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_04]: No, it would make the playoffs if you pretty good.
[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Given this year, there's no great teams.
[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_04]: They probably feel pretty good about their chances.
[00:22:29] Mm-hmm.
[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you have another step?
[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you want me to read the next one, too?
[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't know if we were just trading back and forth or not.
[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_03]: All right, I'll read my other one.
[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I have to try and do this one without laughing.
[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_03]: So this was this was posted on Twitter today.
[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_03]: It is a graphic and there's a question posted.
[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Have you scored a playoff run in your home stadium since the release of the original X box?
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_03]: There's one side to this graph.
[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_03]: There's one side to this graphic that says, yes, of course, the original X box released
[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_03]: in November of 2001 and there's a big red circle around 29 of the 30 teams in baseball
[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_03]: and the other side says just simply no.
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And there is a circle around one team.
[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_04]: That is fascinating.
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Every other team.
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_04]: So if you sit there, if you go to someone's house and you see an X box sitting in someone's
[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_04]: TV stand, sit there and realize that that device is younger than the mayor
[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_04]: and has last playoff run at home.
[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Any X box of all time.
[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_04]: But what person still owns and uses an original X box?
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, not an original one.
[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm talking about any X box period.
[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_04]: You see a nice fancy one sitting up there and you sit and think the original version
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_04]: of this is still younger than the last time the mayor and her score to playoff run at home.
[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Does that not blow your mind?
[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it does.
[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_03]: It does.
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, there are so many numbers that get thrown out there.
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Often that you'll see regarding this team.
[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And somehow everyone I see like this always surprises me.
[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_03]: It shouldn't, but it always does.
[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_03]: It always does.
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't get it.
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't get it either.
[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_03]: We're going to put ourselves on pause for just a minute because we got to talk to you guys about our friends at
[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Pagachas Pove 85.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't let the mayor and the season boggy down guys because you need a good place to go watch games.
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Football, college football, basketball season.
[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Starting up, you want to just go hang out with your friends.
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a great spot to go.
[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Great spot to go.
[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Pool, darts, great food and there's happy hour specials and they're not just any old happy
[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_03]: hour specials.
[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_03]: They're awesome.
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Happy hour specials.
[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Two to six PM Monday through Friday.
[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_03]: So some pretty long happy hours drinks are three and four dollars.
[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Those are phenomenal deals.
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_03]: So if you're interested in any of that stuff and I assume almost all of you are head over
[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_03]: to Pagachas Pove 85 in Kirkland.
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_01]: New Balance recently announced the addition of all American Cooper flag to the NB family.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Made for Germany.
[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Parade by Shoppy-fight.
[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, like where do we go from here?
[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Like we actually talk about the Astro series.
[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we haven't done that yet.
[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_03]: We can we can spend a couple minutes on it.
[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Miraculously they won two with three.
[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_03]: They did what they needed to do.
[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Like that was the series they needed to win two of three games against.
[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_04]: And they played remarkably well in the two wins and the one loss was a,
[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, a close loss where you didn't score enough.
[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_04]: But that's again, just been the theme of the season.
[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Did what they needed to.
[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_04]: It was the Yankee series the week before and it was the loss on Sunday to the Rangers.
[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Otherwise,
[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_04]: that was fine.
[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_04]: But it didn't matter because the Astros did their celebration in your face again.
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Again, they see the Kyle Tucker clip floating around their Instagram feeds.
[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Seeing what does this dumb Mariners fan think he's talking about training Kyle Tucker to the Mariners?
[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_04]: The 10 game lead.
[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to celebrate.
[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I think the Astros were sitting in the clubhouse on Tuesday night,
[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_04]: spraying their champagne around saying,
[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_04]: who the fuck does Low Goldstein think he is?
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Who does he think he is?
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Who do you think you are?
[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_04]: No, you think you're rent free in there?
[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, absolutely.
[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Including Kyle Tucker's mind who's like, you know what?
[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I still know Seattle's the place for me.
[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_03]: This is starting again this off season again.
[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Like when free agency like when the world series ends,
[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_03]: we're starting it again.
[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Like you thought we were, you thought we were done with that?
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh no, no chance.
[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_04]: No, we're not.
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_03]: He's going to be a Mariner.
[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_04]: But he was celebrating quite a bit and helped end the Mariners season.
[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_04]: He did.
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Must have heard of them then.
[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, again, he can't, he can't just,
[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_03]: he can't just throw games or he's never going to get to his destination location.
[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what's annoying though.
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Like they played well against the Astros all season.
[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_04]: All season why, why does this team have to be frustrating enough?
[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Where they take care of business against the best team in the division and the worst team in the division
[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_04]: does, what would you call it the Angel's did against the Mariners.
[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll, what would you call that?
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not a perfect term because the angels weren't blowing them out and a lot of these games
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_03]: because a lot of them were closed, but I don't care.
[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Mariner's went one and eight in their final nine against the angels over that stretch.
[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_03]: The angels curbs dog them said.
[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_03]: And, and you know what they, they didn't do all that much better against the A is this year.
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, gee, here the story.
[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_04]: A Toro actually snuck back into the Astros clubhouse on Tuesday.
[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Now when he was celebrating back in there.
[00:29:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Celebrate.
[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_04]: He missed out on all their other posts.
[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_04]: He's missed out on all their celebrations.
[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_04]: So they decided they should just give them a solid.
[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Actually, I think he was part of, oh, never mind.
[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I was going to say 2019, but they didn't win the world, too.
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Is that your?
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, they celebrated sometimes.
[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Was he on the roster then?
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, remember he made a key play in Justin Verlander's no header that year.
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_04]: TJ, do you remember if Abe Turmade a key play?
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_04]: No, I don't.
[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_04]: No, no.
[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, so he was then part of celebrations because they traded him before they celebrated at all in 2021.
[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. Right.
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_04]: And missed out on all the Mariners celebrations, too.
[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_04]: He's just like anti-celebration, I guess.
[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_04]: So on top of being terrible at baseball, he's no fun.
[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, we don't know.
[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_03]: He hasn't had a chance.
[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Hmm.
[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_04]: No, he's had his chances.
[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_04]: He's blown.
[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Was he not there when the Mariners ended the drought?
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think he was on the roster at the end of the year.
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he was on the playoff roster.
[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay. This is my task to all the listeners.
[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_04]: If you can find me a photo of Abe Turmade celebrating
[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_04]: in the Mariners clubhouse, I'll do something.
[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what, I'll do something.
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe I'll make a post about it and I'll give you a shout out when you reply.
[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_04]: No, there you go.
[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Did Abe, did Abe Turmade celebrate in the Mariners clubhouse in 2022?
[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_04]: If I see that photo, I'm going to be at.
[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, he was probably celebrating in Toronto because I'm pretty sure you're on the post these are roster.
[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_03]: You don't want to say, you know what I'm going to say.
[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_04]: You love Abe?
[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Now you love Abe.
[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_03]: So look for, for everybody that's wondering,
[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I think we're going to do more of a actual concise like breakdown the numbers.
[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Look through what really went wrong.
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_03]: At least some of that for Monday's episode in a reminder,
[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_03]: we're going to post our next podcast episode Monday instead of Wednesday.
[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_03]: So we get something out for everybody right after the season ends officially ends.
[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And with that, I think we're going to dive a little bit more into the numbers.
[00:31:48] [SPEAKER_03]: But nobody wants to hear all that right now.
[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_03]: People are emotional, were emotional.
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_03]: They just got eliminated from playoff contention.
[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_03]: So that's why we're doing it like this right now.
[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I mean, if you've got anything else, keep firing away.
[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_04]: And then on Friday, we will start our position reviews for the offseason and hope to it's been a little bit of a chaotic month
[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_04]: for us.
[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_04]: But we are going to hope to get back into a normal swing of guests when the offseason arrives as well.
[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_04]: We've been a little little sporadic in the second half with guests with the Mariners firing people
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_04]: and causing emergency podcast episodes, which is thrown a wrench in getting guests on board.
[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_04]: But with the offseason arriving, we will get back into a more regular swing of having some good people on that can also give some probably similar opinions of where the Mariners organization is at.
[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I want to get this in before we close out.
[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's hear a word from game time.

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Sucks knowing the series means absolutely nothing.
[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Unfortunately, literally the only you know what means the most about this series.
[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_04]: This is the last time Oakland will be on those jerseys.
[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what matters the most in the series.
[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought you said you didn't want the Mariners to get it up to the final day of the season.
[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't.
[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_03]: But you're also saying you want these games don't mean anything like legitimately.
[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_03]: So you're saying you want these games.
[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean something like you're emotionally to process when they get eliminated before the final weekend of the season.
[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_04]: But as content people lie oh at the games don't matter.
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Right there.
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you don't sit here and recap spring training games.
[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_04]: No, no we don't we just watch Thai friends running around the base isn't go.
[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you see how fast he is?
[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, can you believe that was a thing?
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, who said that again?
[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, a lot of people.
[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_04]: He was skinnier in spring training I think, but that speed kind of one way.
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think Thai is doing well.
[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_04]: I do too.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean obviously he's a great dude and absolutely you got off to the hot.
[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_03]: You got off to the hot start and Cincinnati.
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I think he's cold off since then, but.
[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I do feel terrible for these Oakland fans though.
[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean seeing this today if we want to spend like a minute on this since the days are coming into town.
[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_03]: It's terrible like you know what and I just want to say this too.
[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I said it to our friend today who's an A's fan.
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_03]: But I'll say it again here.
[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_03]: This is just as much Rob man for odds fall.
[00:35:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, man for it, but we don't call him that we call him.
[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Rob man for odd.
[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_03]: This is as much man for odds fall as it is John Fisher's because he could have put a stop to all this and said we cannot let an owner like this.
[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Be anywhere near our sport and he allows it to happen.
[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_03]: So John Fisher is the worst when he is doing to that city that franchise is deplorable.
[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_03]: But Rob man for it.
[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry man fraud deserves just as much blame for not ever stepping in to do something about it.
[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_04]: And it seems like that's the only group where there's no emotion shed from today.
[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Like the emotion around that final game they played at the Colotsium today on Thursday, that'll be it when we're recording was so you know, so deep.
[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_04]: So like Dallas, Braden.
[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Mark Kotsay was out there on the field, the on it all the fans.
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Like like hours at hour after the game, there's so many people still in the stands just sitting there and watching and for a group of people and suits to decide.
[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_04]: We'll go play in a minor league park for three years instead.
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Might be more than that only only in Major League Baseball.
[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_03]: It might be more than that because guess what?
[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_03]: There's no guarantee this Vegas thing is happening.
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_03]: They might just be in Sacramento for this foreseeable future.
[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you say people don't want to sign in Seattle. No one's going to Sacramento.
[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Not to play in that ballpark.
[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And they're not going to pay anybody regardless of the right.
[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it sucks.
[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Here seeing all that emotion today like really hit home like it really did.
[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_04]: It brings back Sonic's memories we're young but still the same.
[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm interested to hear from Dallas about it this weekend.
[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure we'll talk to him at some point and I'm curious because you know, you could tell he was emotional today.
[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm curious to hear from him about it.
[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Like you know, I mean, he's like he's somebody we want to have on the podcast of course at some point too and hopefully this off season if he has a little more time.
[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_03]: We can make it happen.
[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, like that was very real when he was talking about on the broadcast today and just you know they're cutting away to all these fans and tears and like it's you know it was very raw emotion.
[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_03]: And somehow it doesn't register a beat with John Fisher and unlike the Sonic so they go in back to Oakland.
[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know they should.
[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_04]: The answer to your question, the business sense makes too much.
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_04]: It makes too much business sense.
[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_04]: The number of six, meaning market if not higher.
[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_04]: So it makes it makes sense.
[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_04]: But are they going to do it?
[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_04]: There I know.
[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I hope there's some people that make an effort to do that because the fans don't deserve to be treated like that.
[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, if someone goes and buys the ace from John Fisher all their in Sacramento and moves them back.
[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_03]: No fan base deserves that and then obviously not Oakland fans but no fan base period.
[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, would would people be interested for us or me?
[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess I mean, I guess you know, you're an organ obviously, but for me to try to track down some as fans this weekend and ask them about like the final.
[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Weekend of being an ace fan like and I think it would be interesting that on social like thing.
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_03]: It would be interesting a good way to broaden out a little bit.
[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I can try and tie it back to the Mariners at least somehow but I just wonder if people will be interested.
[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Obviously that was our last home game and that means a lot more.
[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_03]: But this is their final weekend is the Oakland eight.
[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_03]: So maybe people will want to hear about it.
[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_03]: You can let us know you can drop a comment.
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm also.
[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_03]: What was I going to say here?
[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm also curious like now what are they going to do with the Coliseum?
[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Probably is going to get torn down.
[00:38:53] [SPEAKER_03]: So if that happens, how are they going back to Oakland?
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Bill in new, new place.
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Actually, I don't think it's going to get torn down.
[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_04]: It will get torn down eventually and only it's getting torn down as soon as the ace to part.
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_04]: They're probably going to use it for something else, but eventually if they're going to get a protein there,
[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_04]: that would be a good spot for it for a new stadium is right where the Coliseum is right now.
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_04]: The other projects tried and failed mostly because of a zoner ship.
[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_04]: So like that would that would be an okay spot.
[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure they could allow if they want one to define a spot and look hard enough.
[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure they can find one.
[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah correct.
[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_03]: We've got to do a lot of sad episodes in the last few weeks.
[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, since the bad road trip and the Scott firing, it's not fun.
[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_03]: You know with us reaching the point of the offseason now where free agency hasn't started,
[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_03]: obviously the playoffs will be going on.
[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure we'll talk about that a little bit, but maybe everybody just needs some some fun through these podcasts.
[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I think the two of us do.
[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_03]: So once we get through some of these positional grades and all that and give our reviews,
[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe some of that time in between then and when the offseason starts,
[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_03]: we can cook up some ideas for some fun podcasts episodes because I think we need them.
[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think the people need them again, like we try to be the positive podcasts,
[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_03]: like we want to be that, but we can't do that when things are as blatant as they are right in front of us.
[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Like obviously, like we have to be real and like we always say,
[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_03]: we're not going to shy away from what our real emotions are with everybody that listens.
[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Like we like to be transparent.
[00:40:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Want to do like a jeopardy game?
[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_03]: You can do something like something like that or like something.
[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Something for something.
[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, each person comes with trivia.
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_04]: That could be good.
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_04]: For segment at least I'm looking forward to these breakdowns too because it gets us thinking a little bit.
[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_04]: This is just reacting.
[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_04]: We like thinking too.
[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_04]: But most importantly there are three games left in the season and then after Sunday,
[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_04]: no, there's this is a big offseason.
[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You say you're not confident they're going to do anything.
[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I trust you, your closer in the market than I am being nearly 300 miles away.
[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_04]: But sure seems like that, but regardless of what they're going to do or not,
[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_04]: it doesn't make this offseason any less important for this team.
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_04]: We will dive into that a little bit more on Monday.
[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_03]: It may be the most, I feel like we say this every year, but each of the last two,
[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_03]: it's been true.
[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I was going to say this may be the most important offseason.
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_03]: They've had an a long, long time.
[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_03]: And I also think they're going to choose to do absolutely nothing as a result.
[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_03]: That's why I think I really hope I'm wrong.
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what I think.
[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_04]: So we're going to say.
[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's going to feel I think it's going to feel a lot like what last offseason did.
[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_04]: And the final, I think the final roster will look to say.
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_04]: But again, we can talk about that on Monday.
[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_04]: That's fine.
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that just about wraps up this edition of the Marine Layer Podcasts.
