[00:01:57] Let's get it rolling.

[00:02:11] And we welcome you to this episode of the Marine Layer Podcast, part of the Just Baseball Podcast Network.

[00:02:17] Recording on Monday evening, November 25th.

[00:02:20] The hot stove is still the opposite of hot.

[00:02:23] There hasn't been much going on.

[00:02:24] And well, unless you're an LA Angels fan, but thankfully now there aren't that many of those left anymore.

[00:02:30] The Mariners had the non tender deadline earlier this week, and they've somehow, despite little action, made more headlines again.

[00:02:39] Because they decided earlier this week, Lyle, to non tender Josh Rojas, Sam Haggerty, Austin Voth and JT Chargois, which should just be water under the bridge.

[00:02:50] So Adam Jude, who is reporting this, notes underneath his tweet saying, oh, it clears up $8 million, which roughly doubles the Mariners current offseason budget.

[00:03:03] And it's safe to say that through everybody into a hurricane.

[00:03:09] One line of one tweet, or should we say one sentence of one tweet, sent all of Mariners Twitter up in flames.

[00:03:18] Doubled? Fucking doubled their money for this offseason?

[00:03:24] What type of contending team spends $15 million in an offseason?

[00:03:30] The Mariners.

[00:03:33] Dude, I wrote out a long list of adjectives for ways to describe the Mariners ownership group to kick off this episode.

[00:03:40] I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to. I know we've beaten this death.

[00:03:44] How long's the list?

[00:03:45] What?

[00:03:46] How long's the list? Did you actually write something?

[00:03:48] No, it's about 20 words.

[00:03:50] Oh, nice.

[00:03:54] So.

[00:03:55] Can we get two words off of it?

[00:03:57] Yeah, we can go with three.

[00:03:59] Since I told you, since I told you to limit the complaining, we'll give you just a tiny bit of the list.

[00:04:04] All right.

[00:04:06] Uh, pathetic, putrid, feeble and unserious.

[00:04:12] I couldn't think of four better words.

[00:04:15] I left about 16 on the board. What were the others?

[00:04:18] That's up for your interpretation, everybody listening.

[00:04:22] I'm just trying to wonder why the Mariners couldn't have waited until at least the holidays or at least the first holiday to disappoint us.

[00:04:29] Yeah.

[00:04:30] You know, it's one thing when it's Thanksgiving week and or if it was after Thanksgiving, I should say, because then you've had your great Thanksgiving meal.

[00:04:40] You've had your time with your family. You've had a good holiday, but instead you have to do it leading up to Thanksgiving, a time when everybody's supposed to be joyful in a positive mood, things to look forward to.

[00:04:53] And now we have this cloud hanging over our heads.

[00:04:56] I don't know about you, but I would have liked to have had my Thanksgiving meal first before hearing this news.

[00:05:02] Or if you don't want to take my word for it, take it in the word of one Eric Cartman.

[00:05:09] Well, then could we at least pull up here and get some dinner?

[00:05:12] Because I like to be wined and dined after I've been fucked.

[00:05:16] You said it perfectly, Cartman. You said it perfectly. I would have liked to have been wined and dined first.

[00:05:23] Cartman makes a good point. And it's the Mariners. If you just map it out once it's now that it's all laid out in front of us, it is first base, second base, third base and another bat for $16 million and a reliever.

[00:05:42] How exactly does that work?

[00:05:45] It doesn't because you cannot adequately fill four spots like that for $16 million and then also say you're contending for a World Series.

[00:05:53] There are things they can do, and we're going to outline it here in the next couple minutes of things they could do.

[00:05:58] But if you are trying to sell your fan base on winning a World Series, legitimately contending for it and not just lucking into one the way the Diamondbacks did in 2022 or sorry, 2023.

[00:06:12] You can't have $16 million on the books to fill four meaningful spots.

[00:06:17] That is the definition of an unserious org.

[00:06:20] I will say going into this offseason, the budget that we imagined, fair or not, which we view as egregiously unfair to all the fans who put their harder money into this team and the amount they draw and their television deal from past years and et cetera.

[00:06:37] List off all the things needing contend, never made a World Series, all the reasons why you should spend more money.

[00:06:45] I will say despite all of that, we did expect given some of the verbiage that this is about where the budget would be.

[00:06:52] They said the payroll would go up.

[00:06:55] It's never certain by how much, but if you were to ask anyone who is familiar with the situation, they would say somewhere around between $150 to $160 million.

[00:07:06] And that's right where the $16 million of quote-unquote projections lead you to.

[00:07:13] So it's not entirely surprising.

[00:07:16] It just hurts.

[00:07:17] I think, Lyle, I think it just hurts for a lot of people to see that essentially spelled out on what they have.

[00:07:25] And it's not hoping for like this, oh, actually, after all their ARB numbers, they're only at $110 million, so they have $40 million to upgrade their roster.

[00:07:37] No.

[00:07:37] No.

[00:07:38] We're assuming this number is going to be after they pay all of their guys' raises in arbitration, and it's going to be $16 million to go after that fact.

[00:07:48] Needing five real positions.

[00:07:52] Let's add this, too.

[00:07:54] They've made pretty public they intend to bring back one of Carlos Santana or Justin Turner.

[00:07:59] If you spend $5 to $8 million of what's projected to be $16 million available in free agency or in off-season funds, payroll, you spend half of that on one of those guys.

[00:08:13] Then what?

[00:08:14] Let's say you get one of those guys, and we have said they need veterans on this team.

[00:08:18] They need leadership.

[00:08:19] Great.

[00:08:20] I'd love to sign one of those guys and bring them back.

[00:08:22] Not when your budget's $16 million, but it still feels like of utter importance to this clubhouse.

[00:08:30] But if you do that, then what?

[00:08:32] You have $8 million left to fill at second base, third base, and the bullpen?

[00:08:40] I'll give you one more scenario.

[00:08:42] Let's say they trade for Nico Horner before they sign Turner or Santana, because that's an idea that's been floated out a lot.

[00:08:49] Horner's owed $12 million this year.

[00:08:51] Then what?

[00:08:52] You have $5 million left to spend, and that's even being generous.

[00:08:55] That'd be going over the $16 million limit.

[00:08:58] So $4 million left?

[00:09:00] I don't even know if $4 million gets you Turner or Santana back.

[00:09:03] So then you've filled one spot, have third base and the bullpen still of utter importance to be filled,

[00:09:08] first base sort of filled out, not really,

[00:09:11] and maybe you have the money to bring one of your vets back, but no guarantee.

[00:09:15] This just means they're going to have to trade prospects to either get cash in trades

[00:09:21] or trade them to offload cash from their own roster.

[00:09:25] Like that's the two scenarios.

[00:09:26] So say you trade for Nico Horner and it's $12 million.

[00:09:29] Well, you send more prospects back to the Cubs so they send money with Nico,

[00:09:33] and it fits within your budget, which sucks, but that's reality right now.

[00:09:38] What if you want to clear money off your roster?

[00:09:40] Well, if you're trading away Mitch Hanegar, the cost would be sending some of your prospects away with Mitch Hanegar,

[00:09:48] probably actually only one prospect because it's only one year,

[00:09:50] but still trading a prospect and someone who could debut in the big leagues this year

[00:09:56] out of your minor league system with Mitch Hanegar to clear his $15.5 million.

[00:10:02] Garver's less likely because he's actually going to be the backup catcher,

[00:10:05] and that's a guaranteed spot unlike whatever Mitch Hanegar's role they think,

[00:10:10] whatever role they think Mitch Hanegar's going to occupy next year,

[00:10:12] which you and I still have no idea how exactly that's going to work.

[00:10:16] And it frankly shouldn't work at all because it makes absolutely no sense for Mitch Hanegar

[00:10:20] to be on the roster next year.

[00:10:22] But there's also one thing I think about here that I think is starting to make more and more and more sense,

[00:10:28] and I brought it up two weeks ago, Lyle, where if this is your scenario

[00:10:31] and you really need to find a way to finagle your salary, your budget with all of this,

[00:10:41] remember that Boba Shed idea I threw out two weeks ago?

[00:10:45] That starts making a whole lot more sense if the Blue Jays are listening,

[00:10:49] where you send prospects with Mitch Hanegar and essentially salary swap with Bo Bichette.

[00:10:56] It'll cost you a tiny bit more, but at least fills a need,

[00:11:00] and the best-case scenario is you get an all-star on your infield,

[00:11:04] and that's a contending move right there.

[00:11:07] All of a sudden, it seems like that's the best-case scenario.

[00:11:12] So hypothetically, you could trade Mitch Hanegar and Harry Ford to Toronto

[00:11:16] and get one year back of Bo Bichette.

[00:11:19] Right.

[00:11:21] What else are they supposed to do with this one?

[00:11:24] Because here's another option.

[00:11:27] If you want to go acquire cheap players, sure, great,

[00:11:31] but those guys are really expensive.

[00:11:34] Big league players who would be of value to you making league minimum

[00:11:38] or in early arbitration years.

[00:11:41] It's not cheap.

[00:11:42] We just talked about Jordan Westberg last week or two weeks ago.

[00:11:46] We posted it on Saturday, and Orioles fans are taking it well.

[00:11:50] We learned a lot about the Orioles fan base on Saturday.

[00:11:53] It's so funny.

[00:11:54] I post the clip in the morning, and it's game day here in Corvallis,

[00:11:57] so I'm working.

[00:11:58] I'm not looking at my phone, and the middle of the game pops up,

[00:12:01] and I open it, and I'm like, holy shit.

[00:12:04] What happened?

[00:12:06] We didn't say anything that egregious.

[00:12:08] Anyways, as you can tell, Lyle, other fan bases view their league minimum

[00:12:14] good players very highly.

[00:12:16] They're not cheap.

[00:12:19] That's the situation they're in right now.

[00:12:22] No, we were told that no Mariners starter is worth Jordan Westberg.

[00:12:26] No, we were told it would cost Castillo, Miller, and Wu for Jordan Westberg.

[00:12:32] Oh, yeah, I forgot.

[00:12:33] Just three all-star caliber starters.

[00:12:35] My bad.

[00:12:36] Yeah.

[00:12:36] Duh, Lyle.

[00:12:37] Come on.

[00:12:38] But that's the situation the Mariners are in right now.

[00:12:40] You either need to offset salaries,

[00:12:42] you either need to trade prospects for salary relief,

[00:12:45] or you need to spend the top-tier price for young players.

[00:12:51] Yes.

[00:12:53] I hate this situation.

[00:12:55] I really, really hate the way this organization operates

[00:12:59] because you're either going to be forced to not spend any money,

[00:13:03] deal away prospects, or both.

[00:13:07] The worst-case scenario in this is we get to spring training,

[00:13:11] and Jerry doesn't clear that much salary this offseason

[00:13:14] because if I was another team,

[00:13:16] I wouldn't want any part of Mitch Hanegar's money.

[00:13:18] That makes absolutely no sense to acquire somebody like that.

[00:13:22] If Jerry wants to keep his prospects,

[00:13:24] he keeps the current salary,

[00:13:26] they upgrade marginally at all those positions,

[00:13:28] and they roll into spring training and tell us

[00:13:30] they really believe what they saw in the last six weeks of the season,

[00:13:33] and then say, I'm sorry, I can't buy that.

[00:13:37] That's telling your fans you were unwilling to properly upgrade

[00:13:40] in the offseason just because.

[00:13:44] And that sucks.

[00:13:45] I don't want to hear that.

[00:13:46] I want to be excited going into next season

[00:13:48] and into next spring that the roster

[00:13:51] had every ounce of thought put into it,

[00:13:53] and that there's no shuffling around.

[00:13:55] I just don't think that's the case, unfortunately.

[00:14:00] And guess what?

[00:14:01] As we've said constantly throughout this offseason

[00:14:05] and into last season too.

[00:14:06] The prospects the Mariners currently have in the minor leagues

[00:14:09] aren't developed to the point,

[00:14:11] on the hitting side at least,

[00:14:12] because that's where all this concern is coming from,

[00:14:15] aren't developed enough to make that much of an impact

[00:14:18] on the roster in 2025.

[00:14:20] So it's not an option to put Cole Young at second base.

[00:14:25] All of you commenting on our Instagram posts,

[00:14:27] I love you all.

[00:14:28] We appreciate you so much.

[00:14:30] I see a lot of Cole Young and Ryan Bliss comments

[00:14:33] to play second base.

[00:14:35] I don't think the Mariners think that those guys

[00:14:37] are ready to play every day at second base next year.

[00:14:40] It's not an option.

[00:14:41] If that was an option,

[00:14:43] they wouldn't tell us that second base

[00:14:45] was a clear pressing need this offseason.

[00:14:48] The first thing they mentioned this offseason

[00:14:49] was second base.

[00:14:50] If Young and Bliss were ready,

[00:14:52] that would not be the case.

[00:14:54] But that's where we are right now.

[00:14:56] Oh, playing Cole Young to start the year

[00:14:58] at second base is an option.

[00:14:59] It's just not a very good one

[00:15:00] because he's not ready

[00:15:01] and it would be a total disservice to his development.

[00:15:03] So yeah, it's an option.

[00:15:05] If you need somebody to play second base,

[00:15:08] it could happen.

[00:15:09] I don't think it's a very good idea.

[00:15:10] I think he needs a little more time to develop.

[00:15:13] But yeah, this is feeling a lot like last offseason again

[00:15:17] where the vibes are so low to start.

[00:15:21] Now, they're not dealing away big league players yet,

[00:15:24] so it's not as low as last offseason,

[00:15:26] but it's not good.

[00:15:28] It's starting to make a lot more sense

[00:15:30] that you very well could trade from your outfield.

[00:15:34] This is where the Randy situation comes back up

[00:15:37] as Ryan Davis floated on our podcast back in August

[00:15:40] after Scott got fired,

[00:15:41] that trading Randy's away for monetary reasons

[00:15:46] is what he floated there,

[00:15:47] but you look at how this roster is built

[00:15:49] and you have so much allocated in your outfield

[00:15:52] and you have this pressing need on your infield.

[00:15:55] All of a sudden, it's not the worst thing in the world

[00:15:58] to move money and move a good outfielder away

[00:16:02] for help on your infield as well

[00:16:04] for hopefully a similar price

[00:16:06] and a similar caliber of player.

[00:16:08] So that feels like that.

[00:16:10] Here's, I keep saying I have one more thing

[00:16:12] and I do.

[00:16:13] Are they willing to expand the budget

[00:16:15] for someone they really like?

[00:16:16] I was listening to Extra Innings

[00:16:18] before we sat down and recorded here on Monday.

[00:16:20] Divish and Jude are pretty plugged in

[00:16:22] and they had Jordan Schusterman on,

[00:16:23] friend of the pod,

[00:16:24] all three friends of the podcast on Extra Innings.

[00:16:27] And Divish kept bringing up

[00:16:29] that they were talking to the Blue Jays

[00:16:31] or at least were trying to talk to the Blue Jays

[00:16:33] at the deadline about Vlad Guerrero Jr.

[00:16:36] Now, Vlad's making $25 million this year.

[00:16:38] He's expensive.

[00:16:39] He's going to be very expensive

[00:16:40] when he hits free agency.

[00:16:41] He's going to sign a long-term deal

[00:16:43] and make somebody very happy.

[00:16:45] Does the budget go up

[00:16:46] if you could get him?

[00:16:49] Like, is this rule of $16 million,

[00:16:51] does it go away if he's available?

[00:16:54] Because under the current parameters,

[00:16:56] you could not acquire him.

[00:16:57] You can't afford him.

[00:16:59] Does that change?

[00:17:02] It should, but how do we have any idea?

[00:17:05] The Mariners can say all they want to say

[00:17:07] about, well, we changed the parameters

[00:17:09] for the right player.

[00:17:10] We've never, ever seen them do that.

[00:17:13] We won't know until they do it.

[00:17:15] Right.

[00:17:16] But we have no past history or data points

[00:17:18] to point to and say,

[00:17:19] well, for the right guy, they'll do it.

[00:17:22] What points of history do we have to point back on

[00:17:24] in this regime, this ownership,

[00:17:26] this front office to back that up?

[00:17:28] They balked at the money at Shohei.

[00:17:29] They're not even in on the Juan Soto sweepstakes,

[00:17:32] et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

[00:17:33] Guys that should be worth it to move the budget for,

[00:17:35] and they balked on all that.

[00:17:37] Not bats.

[00:17:38] They've done it for two pitchers.

[00:17:41] But was their budget cap for Luis Castillo?

[00:17:45] I don't know about that.

[00:17:46] No, but they wouldn't have.

[00:17:49] I don't think they would have traded for Castillo

[00:17:51] if they didn't want to extend him.

[00:17:52] That's the whole philosophy of this front office

[00:17:54] is trade and extend.

[00:17:55] Right, but they didn't have problems

[00:17:57] with the RSN at that point.

[00:17:59] They didn't seem to say,

[00:18:00] oh, we're handicapped by this.

[00:18:01] Not that this ownership was spending like crazy,

[00:18:03] or at least spending the way

[00:18:05] they should have been spending,

[00:18:06] but not the way it's been the last couple years.

[00:18:09] Remember, Robbie Ray,

[00:18:10] the year they signed Robbie Ray,

[00:18:11] they were in on Trevor Story.

[00:18:13] They were in on some of the top-line free agents

[00:18:15] that winter,

[00:18:16] and they didn't get any of them,

[00:18:17] but they seemed to be in on them.

[00:18:18] Now, all of a sudden,

[00:18:19] over the last couple off-seasons,

[00:18:21] narrative's totally shifted.

[00:18:23] Look, if Divish,

[00:18:24] you and I trust Divish on what he reports,

[00:18:27] and he says they were asking the Blue Jays

[00:18:29] about Vlad with a payroll at that point

[00:18:32] that was, what, $145 million?

[00:18:35] So, if they acquired him,

[00:18:37] that's $170 right there.

[00:18:40] If he is on your team,

[00:18:43] and he is the player you are getting,

[00:18:47] it sounds like it could change some minds.

[00:18:49] However, there are just not a whole lot

[00:18:51] of Vlad Groot juniors out there,

[00:18:52] and he is probably not actually available

[00:18:54] because he's not a Mariner.

[00:18:55] Because if he was actually available,

[00:18:57] again, as we stated so many times at the deadline,

[00:19:00] who is outbidding the Mariners?

[00:19:03] Who?

[00:19:06] Probably not a lot of teams

[00:19:07] when you look at the prospect capital.

[00:19:09] And even if someone tries to flash better prospects,

[00:19:11] the Mariners really want somebody.

[00:19:13] They're like,

[00:19:14] want a starter?

[00:19:16] Right.

[00:19:16] No one else can offer that.

[00:19:19] You better be pretty sure

[00:19:21] you're extending Vladdy if that happens.

[00:19:22] But if you somehow magically land Roki Sasaki

[00:19:25] in the middle of January,

[00:19:26] maybe it becomes more possible.

[00:19:28] Right.

[00:19:28] God, that throws,

[00:19:29] and Roki throws off this whole thing too,

[00:19:31] which I don't even think this is something

[00:19:33] we considered when we talked about Roki,

[00:19:35] but having to wait until January 15th

[00:19:38] to sign him

[00:19:41] is going to really screw up some off-seasons.

[00:19:44] Not only screw up some off-seasons,

[00:19:45] there were some articles written in The Athletic

[00:19:46] about how it's going to screw up

[00:19:47] international free agency

[00:19:49] and what could become available

[00:19:51] since of all these verbal agreements

[00:19:52] that could fall through

[00:19:53] for whoever signs him,

[00:19:55] but how it's going to affect

[00:19:56] big league free agency

[00:19:57] for these teams that are holding out for him.

[00:19:59] So, yeah.

[00:20:00] It's crazy.

[00:20:01] It's crazy.

[00:20:01] Last thing, by the way,

[00:20:03] if the Mariners trade Randy

[00:20:04] like what you mentioned

[00:20:05] and like what I tweeted earlier this week

[00:20:06] saying if that's the budget,

[00:20:08] it may very well be possible,

[00:20:09] let's not get it twisted.

[00:20:10] They're trading him

[00:20:11] because they have budgetary problems

[00:20:12] and monetary problems.

[00:20:14] They're trading him to salary dump

[00:20:15] if they do that.

[00:20:16] It's not because of performance.

[00:20:18] It's not because of performance.

[00:20:20] It is, you know,

[00:20:21] I'll compare it to Brock and Salk again.

[00:20:23] This will be two shows in a row.

[00:20:25] I think both of them

[00:20:26] should be very happy we're talking,

[00:20:27] spending all this time

[00:20:28] mentioning something they say,

[00:20:30] but let's use like Salk's DK example.

[00:20:32] Like, you know what I'm talking about

[00:20:34] and he thinks the Seahawks roster

[00:20:35] is not built.

[00:20:36] It's built from the outside

[00:20:37] and it'd be the same thing

[00:20:38] with the Mariners.

[00:20:39] Too much on the outfield grass,

[00:20:41] not enough on the infield grass

[00:20:42] in terms of where the resources are.

[00:20:45] Yeah, but I can't buy into that.

[00:20:47] You need all the good players

[00:20:48] offensively that you can have.

[00:20:49] I don't care what positions

[00:20:50] they're playing.

[00:20:51] You need good star players.

[00:20:52] You trade Randy Rosarino

[00:20:54] off this roster this offseason.

[00:20:55] Oh, we're going to come back

[00:20:56] on this podcast

[00:20:57] and I'm going to make every rant

[00:20:59] I've ever gone on

[00:21:01] on this platform

[00:21:02] make it seem like it was a chat over tea.

[00:21:05] The problem with trading Randy

[00:21:07] in all reality

[00:21:08] is you don't have a DH right now.

[00:21:11] No.

[00:21:12] So,

[00:21:13] he,

[00:21:14] at the very,

[00:21:15] at the minimum,

[00:21:15] he should be your DH.

[00:21:17] Yes.

[00:21:18] Yeah.

[00:21:19] You know what this all boils down to,

[00:21:20] TJ,

[00:21:21] as we put a bow on this segment?

[00:21:22] And,

[00:21:23] we're sitting here again.

[00:21:25] We're sitting here again

[00:21:27] talking about the same things.

[00:21:29] Thank you, Brian.

[00:21:30] Thank you, Brian Kelly.

[00:21:31] He is right.

[00:21:35] Unfortunately.

[00:21:37] Yeah.

[00:21:37] All right.

[00:21:39] We have got an interview

[00:21:40] to get you guys to

[00:21:41] that we cannot wait

[00:21:42] for you guys to hear

[00:21:43] and to tell you about it.

[00:21:44] But,

[00:21:45] before that,

[00:21:45] let's take a quick pause here.

[00:21:47] We're going to talk to you about

[00:21:48] our friends over at

[00:21:49] Pagotch's Pub 85.

[00:21:51] An awesome place to go watch sports

[00:21:52] with your friends.

[00:21:53] There may not be baseball,

[00:21:54] but that doesn't mean

[00:21:55] there's not plenty of sports

[00:21:56] to go watch on a weekly basis

[00:21:57] over at Pub 85.

[00:21:59] Whether it's the NFL,

[00:22:00] college football

[00:22:01] coming right down to the wire.

[00:22:02] Shout out the Devils,

[00:22:03] by the way.

[00:22:03] Arizona State's got a chance

[00:22:04] to get into the playoffs.

[00:22:05] Maybe TJ and I

[00:22:06] will be over there

[00:22:07] watching over their

[00:22:08] last couple games.

[00:22:09] So,

[00:22:10] college football,

[00:22:10] the NFL,

[00:22:11] college hoops,

[00:22:12] NBA,

[00:22:13] hockey,

[00:22:13] there's plenty of sports going on.

[00:22:14] You want to go watch

[00:22:15] some games with your friends,

[00:22:16] head over there,

[00:22:17] go get some great food,

[00:22:18] and if you want

[00:22:19] awesome drink specials,

[00:22:20] you will not find

[00:22:21] better deals.

[00:22:22] Happy Hour drink specials

[00:22:24] over at Pub 85

[00:22:24] are 2 to 6 p.m.

[00:22:26] on Monday through Friday

[00:22:27] and drinks are 3 and 4 dollars.

[00:22:29] So,

[00:22:29] all of that

[00:22:30] over at

[00:22:30] Pagatches Pub 85

[00:22:32] in Kirkland.

[00:23:30] Can I put us on the hot seat?

[00:23:32] Sure.

[00:23:34] So I realized this week

[00:23:36] as I'm thinking ahead

[00:23:37] to our Winter Meetings trip,

[00:23:39] which

[00:23:39] if any of you listening

[00:23:40] are going to Winter Meetings,

[00:23:41] shout out Henry.

[00:23:42] Henry already emailed us this week.

[00:23:44] We're gonna

[00:23:44] meet up with Henry

[00:23:45] at Winter Meetings.

[00:23:46] Looking forward to it.

[00:23:47] Yeah.

[00:23:48] And let's just quickly add,

[00:23:49] he's a fan of the podcast.

[00:23:51] So he just said,

[00:23:52] hey guys,

[00:23:52] want to meet up

[00:23:53] if you guys are around.

[00:23:54] So anybody that might be there,

[00:23:55] let us know.

[00:23:56] Yeah, hit us up.

[00:23:57] Send us a DM.

[00:23:57] Send us an email.

[00:23:58] We'll see it.

[00:23:59] We would be happy

[00:24:00] to meet up with y'all

[00:24:01] down there in Dallas

[00:24:02] for Winter Meetings.

[00:24:03] Gonna shoot a ton of content

[00:24:05] for both this channel

[00:24:06] and our Bullpen Banner channel,

[00:24:08] our national channel.

[00:24:09] If you're unfamiliar,

[00:24:10] find Bullpen Banner

[00:24:12] wherever

[00:24:12] on social media,

[00:24:14] TikTok,

[00:24:15] Instagram,

[00:24:15] we're on Twitter,

[00:24:16] we're on Blue Sky,

[00:24:17] go check it out.

[00:24:18] So that's like

[00:24:19] really looking forward to it.

[00:24:20] But of course,

[00:24:20] it's in Dallas this year.

[00:24:22] And as you bring up,

[00:24:23] it's been a great couple weeks

[00:24:25] to be a Sun Devil.

[00:24:26] They went out.

[00:24:27] We're gonna land

[00:24:29] in Dallas

[00:24:30] the day after

[00:24:31] the conference title game

[00:24:32] in Dallas.

[00:24:34] Just came to the reality

[00:24:35] of that this week.

[00:24:36] That was a little tough

[00:24:37] to accept.

[00:24:38] I guess you could say

[00:24:39] hot seat us,

[00:24:40] but at the same time,

[00:24:41] not a chance

[00:24:42] when we booked our tickets

[00:24:44] to the Winter Meetings

[00:24:44] did we think

[00:24:45] Arizona State

[00:24:46] had an even remote chance

[00:24:48] to be playing

[00:24:48] in the Big 12 title game,

[00:24:50] let alone have a chance

[00:24:51] to get into the college

[00:24:52] football playoff.

[00:24:53] Shout out them.

[00:24:54] Shout out Kenny.

[00:24:55] He's got his stuff rolling.

[00:24:57] So if you want to watch

[00:24:58] the Big 12 championship,

[00:25:01] knock on wood

[00:25:02] with Lyle and I,

[00:25:03] yeah,

[00:25:04] Pub 85,

[00:25:05] that'd be the place to be.

[00:25:07] Let's talk a little bit

[00:25:08] about Adam Ray

[00:25:08] before we dive

[00:25:09] into the interview.

[00:25:10] First of all,

[00:25:11] go check out his Netflix special,

[00:25:13] Dr. Phil Live.

[00:25:14] It's on Netflix.

[00:25:14] Netflix came out last week

[00:25:17] and it's hilarious.

[00:25:19] If you're unfamiliar

[00:25:20] with Adam Ray,

[00:25:21] huge Mariners fan.

[00:25:22] He does his comedy tour

[00:25:25] all over the country.

[00:25:26] He does a bit

[00:25:27] where he dresses up

[00:25:28] as Dr. Phil

[00:25:30] and is just hilarious.

[00:25:32] I mean,

[00:25:33] while I thought you

[00:25:34] and I are extroverts,

[00:25:36] until sitting down

[00:25:37] and talking with Adam Ray,

[00:25:38] I don't think most people

[00:25:40] understand

[00:25:40] how much of an extrovert

[00:25:42] comedians are.

[00:25:44] Like,

[00:25:44] did you pick up

[00:25:46] on the same thing?

[00:25:47] Yeah,

[00:25:48] 100%.

[00:25:50] It's almost,

[00:25:52] like,

[00:25:53] I didn't feel this way,

[00:25:54] but I've heard people say

[00:25:57] being around Adam

[00:25:58] is so,

[00:26:00] what's the right word?

[00:26:03] I'm trying to think,

[00:26:04] infatuating?

[00:26:05] That's probably the right word.

[00:26:06] It's that it's almost

[00:26:08] overwhelming at times.

[00:26:09] Like engulfing?

[00:26:10] What's that?

[00:26:11] Engulfing?

[00:26:12] Yeah,

[00:26:12] like all that stuff.

[00:26:14] Like,

[00:26:14] yeah,

[00:26:14] maybe infatuation

[00:26:15] is not the right word,

[00:26:15] but yeah,

[00:26:16] engulfing,

[00:26:16] like he's just,

[00:26:17] he's so out there

[00:26:19] and he's so upbeat

[00:26:20] and he's so hilarious

[00:26:22] and he's got so much energy.

[00:26:24] This is who comedians are,

[00:26:25] right?

[00:26:26] And it is,

[00:26:28] you're absolutely right.

[00:26:29] I'd say the two of us

[00:26:30] talk to a lot of people,

[00:26:31] not even close to the level

[00:26:33] that Adam Ray does.

[00:26:34] And yeah,

[00:26:35] he does a couple different types

[00:26:36] of comedy specials

[00:26:38] on his tour.

[00:26:39] Sometimes he's just

[00:26:39] Adam Ray

[00:26:40] doing live standup comedy

[00:26:42] at a bunch of different places

[00:26:43] around the country

[00:26:43] where he travels.

[00:26:45] And sometimes

[00:26:45] he travels around the country

[00:26:47] to do his Dr. Phil segments

[00:26:49] where,

[00:26:49] like you said,

[00:26:50] he dresses up as Dr. Phil.

[00:26:52] He does the whole Dr. Phil bit.

[00:26:53] That's what the Netflix special's about.

[00:26:55] So he does multiple types

[00:26:58] of comedy shows

[00:26:59] when he tours around the country

[00:27:00] and it's all hilarious.

[00:27:02] His,

[00:27:03] his interview with us

[00:27:04] was hilarious.

[00:27:05] His podcast is awesome.

[00:27:07] The fact he's a Mariners fan,

[00:27:09] icing on the cake.

[00:27:11] I'll,

[00:27:12] I mean,

[00:27:12] I'll say it.

[00:27:13] This is the biggest guest

[00:27:14] we've ever had on,

[00:27:15] right?

[00:27:16] Yeah,

[00:27:16] it is.

[00:27:17] And think about it this way.

[00:27:18] Like he is a comedian,

[00:27:20] but he's a damn good podcast host too.

[00:27:22] If you have not listened

[00:27:24] to an episode

[00:27:24] of the About Last Night podcast

[00:27:26] and you're a Mariners fan,

[00:27:28] you might not be interested

[00:27:29] in every guest he has on,

[00:27:31] but he's had on Cal Raleigh,

[00:27:33] he's had on Ty France,

[00:27:34] he's had on Jerry DePoto twice,

[00:27:36] and he's had on a couple Seahawks as well.

[00:27:38] So,

[00:27:39] it's,

[00:27:40] he,

[00:27:40] he branches out

[00:27:41] to talk to all these guys.

[00:27:43] And it is,

[00:27:45] the level of detail he'll go in

[00:27:47] is,

[00:27:47] is really good.

[00:27:48] He is a great interviewer.

[00:27:51] So curious.

[00:27:53] And,

[00:27:53] yeah,

[00:27:54] he's got the whole package

[00:27:55] of,

[00:27:55] of what you would want

[00:27:56] in an extrovert.

[00:27:57] And he was a fantastic interview.

[00:27:59] We should probably give people

[00:28:01] a warning here too.

[00:28:03] If you

[00:28:04] do not want to hear

[00:28:07] an R-rated level interview,

[00:28:09] this is your chance to tune out.

[00:28:11] I will give people

[00:28:12] the fair warning.

[00:28:13] This is,

[00:28:13] this is very much

[00:28:14] an R-rated interview.

[00:28:15] It was hilarious.

[00:28:16] It was unbelievable.

[00:28:18] We enjoyed every second of it.

[00:28:19] I'll,

[00:28:20] I'll go on a limb and say it.

[00:28:22] Adam might be my favorite interview

[00:28:23] we've ever done.

[00:28:24] But,

[00:28:25] I will say,

[00:28:27] it is an R-rated interview.

[00:28:28] So,

[00:28:29] if you are somebody

[00:28:30] who doesn't want to hear

[00:28:30] a lot of that stuff,

[00:28:31] well,

[00:28:32] you can tune out.

[00:28:33] But when you have a comedian on,

[00:28:35] you want the best,

[00:28:36] or any interviewee on,

[00:28:37] you want the best version

[00:28:38] of themselves.

[00:28:39] And the best version of Adam

[00:28:40] is when he is himself

[00:28:42] and like he is on stage

[00:28:44] at his comedy shows

[00:28:45] when he just lets it rip.

[00:28:46] That's what he did

[00:28:47] on this,

[00:28:47] on this interview with us

[00:28:48] and on this podcast.

[00:28:49] So,

[00:28:50] there is your warning.

[00:28:52] Let me,

[00:28:52] you know what,

[00:28:53] let me give people

[00:28:53] one more piece of information too.

[00:28:55] We start this interview

[00:28:56] by saying,

[00:28:57] Adam is one really tough guy

[00:29:00] to track down.

[00:29:00] He is.

[00:29:01] I don't think we ever got

[00:29:01] into the exact details of it,

[00:29:03] but I'll give people

[00:29:04] the 411

[00:29:04] so they can piece

[00:29:06] all the puzzle pieces together.

[00:29:08] We've worked on getting

[00:29:09] this interview

[00:29:09] for a year and a half.

[00:29:10] Adam is awesome,

[00:29:12] but as you can imagine,

[00:29:13] when you're as busy as he is,

[00:29:14] as famous as he is,

[00:29:15] doing as many things

[00:29:16] as he does,

[00:29:18] your schedule's

[00:29:19] really busy.

[00:29:20] So,

[00:29:20] we've had a lot of

[00:29:21] back and forth

[00:29:21] for a long time

[00:29:22] trying to find a time

[00:29:23] to make this work.

[00:29:24] We finally did.

[00:29:25] We are thrilled,

[00:29:26] thrilled,

[00:29:27] thrilled that it finally

[00:29:28] worked out

[00:29:28] and it lives up to the hype.

[00:29:30] But we talk about

[00:29:31] how tough he is

[00:29:33] to track down

[00:29:33] to start the interview

[00:29:34] just to give you guys

[00:29:35] a little bit

[00:29:36] of additional information.

[00:29:38] Let's not keep you guys

[00:29:38] any longer.

[00:29:39] Let's get you to that

[00:29:40] interview with Adam Ray.

[00:29:44] All right,

[00:29:45] we've got Adam Ray

[00:29:46] on with us.

[00:29:47] Comedian,

[00:29:48] actor,

[00:29:49] host of the

[00:29:49] About Last Night podcast.

[00:29:51] Adam,

[00:29:52] we're fired up

[00:29:52] to have you on.

[00:29:53] This has been

[00:29:54] a long time coming.

[00:29:55] That being said,

[00:29:56] I will say,

[00:29:57] you are one

[00:29:58] tough guy

[00:29:59] to flag down.

[00:30:00] Dude,

[00:30:01] coming in hot.

[00:30:02] Classic,

[00:30:03] classic Lyle,

[00:30:04] dude.

[00:30:05] Gets up at 5 a.m.

[00:30:06] now so he feels

[00:30:07] like he can shoot

[00:30:07] from the hip.

[00:30:09] By the way,

[00:30:10] dude,

[00:30:11] you,

[00:30:12] I don't know

[00:30:12] what your skin care

[00:30:13] regime is,

[00:30:14] Lyle,

[00:30:14] but you always look

[00:30:15] like you're waiting

[00:30:16] for your parents

[00:30:16] to pick you up.

[00:30:17] And that is a compliment,

[00:30:19] dude.

[00:30:19] You got young skin

[00:30:20] and probably a sweet cock

[00:30:22] and I know

[00:30:23] this is a family show,

[00:30:24] which is why

[00:30:26] TJ's wearing

[00:30:26] the Costco hoodie,

[00:30:27] which he clearly stole.

[00:30:30] Not that you

[00:30:30] look like you have

[00:30:33] a klepto

[00:30:34] in your family,

[00:30:36] TJ,

[00:30:37] but you just,

[00:30:37] you look like you saw that

[00:30:39] and you were like,

[00:30:40] you know what?

[00:30:40] Finders keepers.

[00:30:41] And that's how you justify

[00:30:44] your theft issue.

[00:30:45] That being said,

[00:30:46] dude,

[00:30:47] go ahead,

[00:30:47] TJ.

[00:30:48] You want to say something?

[00:30:48] It is your show.

[00:30:50] Adam,

[00:30:51] you did say all that

[00:30:51] about Lyle

[00:30:52] and you didn't even know

[00:30:53] he eats a peanut butter

[00:30:54] and jelly every single day.

[00:30:55] Shut the fuck up.

[00:30:56] Of course he does.

[00:30:57] That's adorable.

[00:30:59] Holy shit.

[00:31:00] Dude,

[00:31:00] you just get,

[00:31:01] I mean,

[00:31:02] crust cut off?

[00:31:03] I don't even know

[00:31:04] why I asked that.

[00:31:04] Of course you cut the crust off,

[00:31:06] you fucking pervert.

[00:31:07] What is there?

[00:31:08] What is your favorite?

[00:31:09] What do you put

[00:31:10] with the sandwich?

[00:31:11] Do you put chips

[00:31:11] in the sandwich?

[00:31:13] Do you drink a squeeze

[00:31:14] it afterwards?

[00:31:15] Absolutely not.

[00:31:16] That's weird.

[00:31:17] I judge people

[00:31:18] that do that

[00:31:18] with their peanut butter

[00:31:18] and jellies.

[00:31:19] You just eat it straight.

[00:31:21] Dude,

[00:31:22] and now he's throwing

[00:31:22] hate at people

[00:31:23] that like to go

[00:31:26] another direction

[00:31:26] with their sandwiches.

[00:31:27] Final question for you,

[00:31:28] Lyle,

[00:31:29] and then I'll let you guys

[00:31:29] host your show.

[00:31:32] You're coming to us

[00:31:33] from your uncle's

[00:31:36] drug dealers house.

[00:31:37] Where are you coming

[00:31:37] to us from again?

[00:31:38] So,

[00:31:39] for anybody who's

[00:31:40] in Seattle

[00:31:41] and not living

[00:31:42] under a rock,

[00:31:43] or honestly,

[00:31:43] even if you are,

[00:31:44] there's been

[00:31:45] a lot of power

[00:31:46] outages this week.

[00:31:47] So,

[00:31:48] I'm not in my

[00:31:49] normal setup.

[00:31:50] I'm at my parents'

[00:31:52] friend's house

[00:31:53] and using one

[00:31:54] of their extra rooms

[00:31:55] to sit and record this.

[00:31:56] So,

[00:31:56] the things we do

[00:31:57] to get people

[00:31:57] like Adam Ray on here.

[00:31:58] Bro,

[00:31:59] thank you,

[00:31:59] and sorry for being

[00:32:00] so elusive,

[00:32:01] but busy time,

[00:32:03] busy sketch,

[00:32:04] but also,

[00:32:04] I didn't want to,

[00:32:05] you know,

[00:32:06] rush it or pack it in

[00:32:07] even though we're,

[00:32:08] you know,

[00:32:08] up against the clock

[00:32:09] a little bit,

[00:32:10] but I just wanted

[00:32:11] to have like

[00:32:11] proper time.

[00:32:12] And also,

[00:32:13] you know,

[00:32:13] we were,

[00:32:14] I think the last time

[00:32:15] we talked about it,

[00:32:15] it was still

[00:32:16] too close to the season

[00:32:17] and there has been

[00:32:18] developments in baseball

[00:32:20] since.

[00:32:20] So,

[00:32:21] it's like,

[00:32:21] you know,

[00:32:21] more fun shit

[00:32:22] to talk about,

[00:32:22] you know?

[00:32:24] Mm-hmm.

[00:32:25] Definitely.

[00:32:26] Okay.

[00:32:27] There's so many

[00:32:28] different ways

[00:32:28] we can go with you.

[00:32:29] Honestly,

[00:32:30] I wanted to start here

[00:32:31] because I feel like

[00:32:32] we relate in a lot

[00:32:33] of ways in terms of

[00:32:35] going with our passion

[00:32:36] in terms of careers,

[00:32:37] picking a field,

[00:32:38] and trying to work

[00:32:39] your way up.

[00:32:41] When you decide

[00:32:42] you want to be an actor

[00:32:43] and a comedian

[00:32:44] and you tell your parents

[00:32:46] that,

[00:32:46] is it anything like us

[00:32:47] trying to tell our parents,

[00:32:49] yeah,

[00:32:49] we want to work

[00:32:49] in sports media

[00:32:50] where they react like

[00:32:51] they probably think

[00:32:52] you're sounding like

[00:32:53] you want to be a rapper

[00:32:53] and they're sitting there

[00:32:54] and it's like,

[00:32:55] well,

[00:32:55] that's the worst

[00:32:55] financial decision

[00:32:56] I've ever heard

[00:32:57] in my life.

[00:32:57] Yeah.

[00:32:58] When I told your parents

[00:32:59] I wanted to be a comedian,

[00:33:00] they were like,

[00:33:00] who are you

[00:33:01] and why are you

[00:33:01] in our bed?

[00:33:02] And when I told my parents,

[00:33:03] they were like,

[00:33:05] we're divorced.

[00:33:06] Why are you putting us

[00:33:07] on a three-way call?

[00:33:09] And then I got so much support

[00:33:13] from my mom

[00:33:14] because she's just like,

[00:33:14] I believe in you.

[00:33:15] Anything you can do,

[00:33:16] you can do it.

[00:33:18] And my dad was like,

[00:33:19] I left, remember?

[00:33:20] Don't call me.

[00:33:21] No.

[00:33:21] He was like,

[00:33:22] yeah, go for it.

[00:33:23] And, you know,

[00:33:24] I don't think

[00:33:27] having no family member

[00:33:28] tied to the business

[00:33:29] I think is an advantage

[00:33:30] because, you know,

[00:33:32] what you don't know

[00:33:32] doesn't hurt you.

[00:33:33] So I don't think

[00:33:34] I had anybody

[00:33:35] trying to cock block

[00:33:37] the passion

[00:33:38] because everybody's like,

[00:33:39] yeah,

[00:33:39] how do you even do that?

[00:33:40] Right?

[00:33:40] So nobody,

[00:33:41] everyone just assumes,

[00:33:42] I mean,

[00:33:42] I definitely got a lot of people

[00:33:43] being like,

[00:33:43] oh, you're going to

[00:33:44] Los Angeles for school?

[00:33:45] Oh, it's dangerous down there.

[00:33:46] Oh, you can try to be a comedian.

[00:33:47] That's pretty tough.

[00:33:48] And even still now

[00:33:50] with, you know,

[00:33:52] I'm doing five sold out shows

[00:33:53] in Utah this weekend

[00:33:54] and these Dr. Phil theater shows

[00:33:56] are selling out,

[00:33:57] you know,

[00:33:57] months in advance

[00:33:58] and I still got people

[00:33:59] being like,

[00:34:00] you know,

[00:34:00] that's tough.

[00:34:01] How do you,

[00:34:01] can you make money doing that?

[00:34:03] And which is,

[00:34:04] you know,

[00:34:04] I always take,

[00:34:05] and I'm sure you guys

[00:34:05] deal with this too

[00:34:06] when, you know,

[00:34:08] when you deal with success

[00:34:09] in areas in your world

[00:34:11] where people like

[00:34:12] that throw shade like that

[00:34:13] or want to question,

[00:34:14] you know,

[00:34:15] the legitimacy.

[00:34:15] It's like,

[00:34:16] oh, bro,

[00:34:16] I'm so sorry

[00:34:17] that you gave up

[00:34:18] on your dream

[00:34:19] and now you're throwing it

[00:34:20] in my face.

[00:34:22] So,

[00:34:23] yeah, dude,

[00:34:24] I mean,

[00:34:25] it is a business

[00:34:27] filled with a lot

[00:34:27] of uncertainty.

[00:34:29] You got to control

[00:34:30] what you can control.

[00:34:31] That's what I kind of,

[00:34:32] you know,

[00:34:33] figured out early on

[00:34:34] was like,

[00:34:35] no one's going to just,

[00:34:36] I'm not going to be discovered

[00:34:37] in a coffee bean

[00:34:38] and some guy's going to be

[00:34:40] sitting in the corner

[00:34:40] and be like,

[00:34:40] dude,

[00:34:41] I like your,

[00:34:41] I like your chest.

[00:34:43] You look like you got

[00:34:43] like sweet nipples.

[00:34:44] You want to pose for the gap,

[00:34:45] you know?

[00:34:47] Which I don't know

[00:34:47] whose story that is.

[00:34:48] I think Ashton Kutcher

[00:34:49] got discovered

[00:34:50] for Calvin Klein

[00:34:51] at a Taco Bell

[00:34:52] or some shit.

[00:34:53] But,

[00:34:54] but yeah,

[00:34:54] you just have to,

[00:34:56] you know,

[00:34:56] throw darts

[00:34:57] and get reps,

[00:34:58] dude.

[00:34:58] There's no,

[00:34:59] stand up is such

[00:34:59] a just profession

[00:35:00] where there's no replacement

[00:35:01] for the reps,

[00:35:02] right?

[00:35:02] You have to,

[00:35:03] any young comic I tell

[00:35:04] that's trying to get into it,

[00:35:05] I go,

[00:35:05] be kind,

[00:35:06] don't be a piece of shit,

[00:35:08] you know,

[00:35:08] get up all the time,

[00:35:09] live a life worth writing about,

[00:35:11] enjoy the process

[00:35:11] of getting better

[00:35:12] and take care of yourself

[00:35:13] and just honestly like,

[00:35:14] time is your best friend.

[00:35:16] You just gotta,

[00:35:17] you know,

[00:35:18] five years is gonna take a minute,

[00:35:20] get up all the time,

[00:35:21] like don't say no

[00:35:22] to shows and hangs

[00:35:24] and I mean,

[00:35:24] I would drive to San Diego

[00:35:25] and back in one night

[00:35:27] for 10 minutes

[00:35:27] or drive to Santa Barbara

[00:35:28] to host a show

[00:35:29] and then wait around

[00:35:30] for the whole show

[00:35:31] and try to meet other comics

[00:35:32] and then try to get booked

[00:35:33] to come back there

[00:35:34] in another month

[00:35:34] and waiting around

[00:35:36] at Comedy Club

[00:35:36] to get three minutes

[00:35:37] on open mics

[00:35:38] for four hours

[00:35:39] and then not get up

[00:35:39] and be fucking furious

[00:35:41] and be like,

[00:35:41] well,

[00:35:41] let's just figure out

[00:35:43] another way

[00:35:43] to be more aggressive

[00:35:44] next time

[00:35:44] or get to know the guy

[00:35:46] who's hosting the open mic.

[00:35:48] There's just so many

[00:35:49] ins and outs

[00:35:49] and elements to it

[00:35:51] that aren't,

[00:35:51] you know,

[00:35:52] on the paper

[00:35:52] that you have to like,

[00:35:54] you know,

[00:35:54] trial and error,

[00:35:55] man,

[00:35:55] but you gotta love it

[00:35:56] and I do love it

[00:35:57] and I think that's why

[00:35:58] I've been,

[00:35:59] you know,

[00:35:59] fortunate to get opportunities

[00:36:01] but also create

[00:36:01] my own opportunities.

[00:36:03] I started doing

[00:36:03] the Dr. Phil live show

[00:36:04] because I was like

[00:36:05] tired of waiting around

[00:36:06] to be put in other people's shit

[00:36:08] and I needed to like

[00:36:09] just fill the creative void

[00:36:12] that I was kind of feeling

[00:36:13] with the monotony

[00:36:14] of stand-up podcast

[00:36:15] and auditioning.

[00:36:16] I'm sure you guys feel that too,

[00:36:17] right,

[00:36:17] where you're like,

[00:36:17] you got your other,

[00:36:18] you know,

[00:36:19] worlds outside of this podcast.

[00:36:21] You know,

[00:36:22] TJ's got his OnlyFans page

[00:36:23] and Lyle's got his,

[00:36:25] you know,

[00:36:26] what is it,

[00:36:26] your face is on

[00:36:27] how many milk cartons

[00:36:28] across the US?

[00:36:28] Have you seen this boy?

[00:36:30] But it's like,

[00:36:31] you know,

[00:36:31] so everyone's got

[00:36:33] other passions and hobbies

[00:36:34] but like,

[00:36:35] you know,

[00:36:36] really,

[00:36:37] you have to be willing

[00:36:38] to just like,

[00:36:39] grind it out

[00:36:40] and a lot of people aren't

[00:36:41] or at least,

[00:36:43] there's a lot of

[00:36:43] fake it tell you makers.

[00:36:44] People always say that too

[00:36:45] about LA,

[00:36:46] like dude,

[00:36:46] it's just so image driven

[00:36:47] and it's so like,

[00:36:48] people are so full of shit

[00:36:49] down there.

[00:36:50] I go,

[00:36:50] dude,

[00:36:50] those people are everywhere.

[00:36:52] You know what I'm saying?

[00:36:52] I travel all over the country

[00:36:54] and it's like,

[00:36:55] there's people from

[00:36:56] all walks of life

[00:36:57] at every show,

[00:36:58] you know,

[00:36:58] I'll get,

[00:36:59] dude,

[00:36:59] you'll see like,

[00:37:00] people that definitely

[00:37:01] don't like,

[00:37:03] you know,

[00:37:04] look like they are against,

[00:37:05] you know,

[00:37:06] gay marriage

[00:37:07] and then they'll say

[00:37:08] some really wild shit

[00:37:09] to you after the show

[00:37:10] and then you'll meet

[00:37:11] somebody where you're like,

[00:37:12] dude,

[00:37:13] there's no way you were

[00:37:13] at January 6th,

[00:37:14] you know,

[00:37:15] just based on your breath

[00:37:16] and beard alone

[00:37:16] and then they're just like,

[00:37:17] hey man,

[00:37:18] look in,

[00:37:18] you know,

[00:37:19] you know,

[00:37:20] you know,

[00:37:20] Hillary Clinton drinks

[00:37:21] looking,

[00:37:22] you know,

[00:37:23] looking baby blood

[00:37:24] and you're like,

[00:37:25] I didn't even know

[00:37:26] that you could read,

[00:37:27] you know,

[00:37:27] so,

[00:37:29] what was the question?

[00:37:33] Coming up through acting,

[00:37:35] like deciding you want

[00:37:36] to get into acting

[00:37:36] in the early stages

[00:37:37] of acting

[00:37:38] and trying to make it.

[00:37:39] Oh yeah,

[00:37:39] I did.

[00:37:39] I mean,

[00:37:39] I did high school plays.

[00:37:41] I played the cowardly line

[00:37:42] in fifth grade.

[00:37:43] My mom says

[00:37:44] that was the greatest part

[00:37:44] I ever did

[00:37:47] and then I just got a bug

[00:37:49] for like performing.

[00:37:50] I want to be a broadcaster.

[00:37:51] Actually,

[00:37:52] it's funny to be,

[00:37:53] you know,

[00:37:53] buds with all the voices

[00:37:55] of the M's now.

[00:37:56] You know,

[00:37:57] Rick Riz has become

[00:37:58] a real good bud

[00:37:59] and I schedule a lot

[00:38:00] of my shows

[00:38:01] around where the M's play

[00:38:02] during the season.

[00:38:03] This last season,

[00:38:04] I was probably in 10 cities

[00:38:05] that they were in

[00:38:05] and,

[00:38:06] you know,

[00:38:06] they all come to my shows

[00:38:07] and Sims

[00:38:08] and,

[00:38:09] you know,

[00:38:10] who obviously

[00:38:11] we wish them the best

[00:38:12] with a fucking gangster

[00:38:13] and Goldie and Gary Hill

[00:38:15] and even Shannon Dreher,

[00:38:16] like they're all,

[00:38:16] I'll just go up

[00:38:17] and hang with them

[00:38:18] in the booth

[00:38:18] for like six,

[00:38:19] seven innings

[00:38:20] and then run over

[00:38:20] and do my show

[00:38:21] or sometimes

[00:38:22] for the whole game

[00:38:23] and it's just the coolest

[00:38:24] and Riz always

[00:38:26] shouting me out every,

[00:38:27] he's got a kind of

[00:38:28] a staple saying

[00:38:29] every time I'm

[00:38:30] with him in the booth

[00:38:31] where he's like,

[00:38:31] we've got people

[00:38:32] from all over the world

[00:38:32] listening to the game

[00:38:33] and Adam Ray,

[00:38:34] comedian,

[00:38:34] great comedian,

[00:38:35] the best comedian

[00:38:35] in the world,

[00:38:36] just ask him

[00:38:36] and then I'll go,

[00:38:38] he,

[00:38:38] you know,

[00:38:38] got to motorboat

[00:38:39] Sandra Bullock,

[00:38:40] which I,

[00:38:40] you know,

[00:38:40] I want to,

[00:38:41] I wish I could,

[00:38:41] you know,

[00:38:42] I wish I could smell

[00:38:42] his fingers,

[00:38:43] you know,

[00:38:43] I forget what he said

[00:38:44] but he was like,

[00:38:45] dude,

[00:38:45] this guy is,

[00:38:46] you know,

[00:38:47] just one of the,

[00:38:48] you know,

[00:38:49] funniest guys,

[00:38:49] you got to go see him live

[00:38:51] and then we'll hang

[00:38:52] and,

[00:38:52] you know,

[00:38:52] maybe go get a drink,

[00:38:53] whatever and,

[00:38:55] but I wanted to do that,

[00:38:56] I actually,

[00:38:57] Albertsons that I ended up

[00:38:57] working at in high school

[00:38:58] had a competition,

[00:38:59] I don't know if you

[00:38:59] remember this,

[00:39:00] where you could sign up

[00:39:00] and get to go into the booth

[00:39:01] with Niehaus and Riz

[00:39:03] for half an inning

[00:39:04] and I must have entered

[00:39:05] that contest a thousand times,

[00:39:07] they also had the

[00:39:07] pop fly contest

[00:39:09] and,

[00:39:10] and that was a dream of mine

[00:39:11] to be a baseball broadcaster,

[00:39:12] I would,

[00:39:12] you know,

[00:39:12] listen to Riz and Niehaus

[00:39:14] every night,

[00:39:14] watch the games

[00:39:15] and then maybe mute it

[00:39:16] and listen to them

[00:39:17] and we're just so lucky

[00:39:18] to have all our guys

[00:39:20] but Riz is just,

[00:39:22] you know,

[00:39:22] as good as it gets

[00:39:23] and,

[00:39:25] and so,

[00:39:26] yeah,

[00:39:26] I wanted to do that

[00:39:27] as a kid

[00:39:27] and then,

[00:39:28] and then once I found

[00:39:30] like performing

[00:39:30] which,

[00:39:31] you know,

[00:39:31] even broadcast,

[00:39:33] broadcasters have a piece

[00:39:34] of that,

[00:39:35] right,

[00:39:35] there is an element

[00:39:36] of,

[00:39:36] you know,

[00:39:37] really getting to be creative

[00:39:38] in your storytelling,

[00:39:40] right,

[00:39:40] and,

[00:39:41] but the live fix

[00:39:42] of being on stage

[00:39:42] that I dug

[00:39:43] from doing plays

[00:39:44] and musicals,

[00:39:45] I was like,

[00:39:45] I want to continue

[00:39:46] with that

[00:39:46] and I always wanted

[00:39:47] to try stand-up

[00:39:47] and so that's why

[00:39:48] I started doing it

[00:39:49] 17 years ago

[00:39:50] and,

[00:39:50] and here we are

[00:39:51] but,

[00:39:52] but the acting bug,

[00:39:53] just the performing bug

[00:39:55] has always been in me,

[00:39:55] you know.

[00:39:56] So Adam,

[00:39:57] you clearly have no filter,

[00:39:58] how long do you think

[00:39:59] it would take you

[00:39:59] if you got to

[00:40:01] take a lead role

[00:40:02] on the broadcast,

[00:40:03] let's say this upcoming season

[00:40:04] because there's a,

[00:40:04] there's a free spot now,

[00:40:05] how long would you last

[00:40:07] on air?

[00:40:09] Oh,

[00:40:09] bro,

[00:40:10] great question.

[00:40:10] I mean,

[00:40:11] Riz,

[00:40:11] I've been pressuring Riz

[00:40:14] to allow me

[00:40:14] to pop into the booth

[00:40:15] since I've known him now

[00:40:17] for probably eight years

[00:40:22] and he always goes,

[00:40:23] ah,

[00:40:24] I just don't trust you,

[00:40:24] buddy,

[00:40:26] which I think he thinks

[00:40:27] I'm going to be like,

[00:40:28] sweet titty juice,

[00:40:30] like there's another bomb

[00:40:31] to deep left center field

[00:40:32] and holy fucking twat milk,

[00:40:36] Julio is fucking

[00:40:37] gone deep again,

[00:40:38] he took the con him off

[00:40:39] for that raw dog city,

[00:40:41] baby,

[00:40:41] you know,

[00:40:41] I don't know what he thinks

[00:40:42] I'm going to say,

[00:40:43] but I've done enough

[00:40:45] morning radio and TV

[00:40:47] that I know how to,

[00:40:49] how to dial it back.

[00:40:51] Do you know what I'm saying?

[00:40:51] So I actually think

[00:40:52] I would last pretty long

[00:40:55] in the booth,

[00:40:56] in the bedroom,

[00:40:57] that's a different story,

[00:40:57] but I definitely think

[00:40:59] that I have a good balance

[00:41:00] of like,

[00:41:01] you know,

[00:41:02] just,

[00:41:03] again,

[00:41:03] it's reps,

[00:41:04] you know,

[00:41:04] like I slipping up

[00:41:06] and saying an F bomb,

[00:41:07] I've just got the muscle memory

[00:41:09] now to know when to almost

[00:41:11] just shut that button off.

[00:41:12] Do you know what I'm saying?

[00:41:13] Like I do Wyman and Bob

[00:41:14] all the time.

[00:41:16] And,

[00:41:17] and you know,

[00:41:18] it's,

[00:41:18] it's never an issue.

[00:41:19] I never feel like I have

[00:41:21] to really censor myself

[00:41:22] because I'm just like,

[00:41:23] you adjust the way you talk.

[00:41:25] But again,

[00:41:25] that's another acquired

[00:41:26] skill set where you're like,

[00:41:27] I'm on now at three 30,

[00:41:29] not nine 30.

[00:41:30] And so it's just a different

[00:41:32] muscle,

[00:41:33] but I would love to be,

[00:41:35] I mean,

[00:41:35] I got to,

[00:41:36] when I was in Atlanta,

[00:41:36] Mike Cameron and Sims

[00:41:37] had me on the TV broadcast

[00:41:39] for about five,

[00:41:40] six minutes.

[00:41:41] And that was a treat

[00:41:42] more nervous than anything.

[00:41:43] Cause I just wanted to make

[00:41:44] sure I talked enough

[00:41:46] and didn't just sit there

[00:41:47] and fill space.

[00:41:47] You always want to like

[00:41:48] be active,

[00:41:49] but Riz also says

[00:41:50] it's tough for baseball

[00:41:51] unless you're Griffey

[00:41:52] for the radio broadcast

[00:41:55] because you have to describe

[00:41:56] everything that's happening.

[00:41:57] TV,

[00:41:57] they're watching,

[00:41:58] you can kind of bullshit

[00:41:59] around a little bit more,

[00:42:00] but he's like with radio,

[00:42:01] you can't really,

[00:42:02] you know,

[00:42:03] take a break as far as like

[00:42:05] painting the picture

[00:42:06] of what's happening.

[00:42:07] But it's a dream dude.

[00:42:09] So if you,

[00:42:11] if you want to accost Riz

[00:42:13] or Lyle,

[00:42:14] if you want to see if Saul

[00:42:15] can hit up DePoto

[00:42:16] or hit up Mitch Hanegger,

[00:42:17] I know they're tight

[00:42:18] or Richard Sherman,

[00:42:20] like some,

[00:42:20] one of his best buds,

[00:42:22] Kyle Seeger,

[00:42:22] just see if they can put

[00:42:24] in a good word for me.

[00:42:25] That'd be awesome.

[00:42:26] You,

[00:42:27] you just mentioned Jerry,

[00:42:28] if we want to go to the other

[00:42:29] side of the organization,

[00:42:30] because you've had the opportunity

[00:42:31] that not many people get

[00:42:33] to like truly sit down

[00:42:34] with a president

[00:42:35] of a baseball team

[00:42:36] and get a real open conversation

[00:42:38] like you've had

[00:42:39] with Jerry

[00:42:40] and your podcast twice.

[00:42:42] I mean,

[00:42:42] how much had you learned

[00:42:43] about,

[00:42:44] you know,

[00:42:44] that side?

[00:42:45] And it's amazing

[00:42:46] how just the curiosity

[00:42:48] comes out

[00:42:49] when you talk to Jerry

[00:42:50] and just how much information

[00:42:51] comes out.

[00:42:52] And I just don't feel like

[00:42:53] that's something people

[00:42:54] get a whole lot of.

[00:42:55] Oh,

[00:42:55] that's cool.

[00:42:55] I appreciate.

[00:42:56] Yeah.

[00:42:56] I mean,

[00:42:56] I'm genuinely curious

[00:42:57] about people too.

[00:42:59] So it's like,

[00:42:59] I mean,

[00:43:00] as you guys are,

[00:43:01] like you have to

[00:43:02] have that at the core

[00:43:03] to be able to

[00:43:05] want to do this

[00:43:05] and,

[00:43:06] and put up with all the minutia

[00:43:07] of like,

[00:43:08] you know,

[00:43:08] producing a podcast

[00:43:09] and just,

[00:43:10] and book and just,

[00:43:11] you gotta be into it.

[00:43:12] And,

[00:43:13] uh,

[00:43:14] and I met him,

[00:43:15] uh,

[00:43:15] briefly at spring training

[00:43:17] and then I was,

[00:43:18] uh,

[00:43:18] I think after I threw out

[00:43:19] a first pitch,

[00:43:20] I was walking around,

[00:43:21] uh,

[00:43:22] the,

[00:43:22] uh,

[00:43:22] broadcast booth

[00:43:23] and,

[00:43:23] and he was there

[00:43:24] and I was about to be

[00:43:25] at the Paramount

[00:43:26] with,

[00:43:26] uh,

[00:43:26] my buddy,

[00:43:27] Sal Volcano

[00:43:27] from the Impractical Jokers

[00:43:28] and I invited him

[00:43:29] to the show

[00:43:30] because I know he's,

[00:43:31] uh,

[00:43:32] somebody told me

[00:43:32] he was a comedy fan.

[00:43:33] He said he just had seen,

[00:43:34] uh,

[00:43:34] another friend of mine there,

[00:43:35] Sebastian Maniscalco

[00:43:36] and I was like,

[00:43:37] oh,

[00:43:37] well,

[00:43:38] take my number,

[00:43:39] we'll get your tickets.

[00:43:40] Came with his wife

[00:43:40] and we stayed

[00:43:41] and chatted baseball

[00:43:42] for like two hours

[00:43:43] after the show.

[00:43:43] He stayed with all

[00:43:44] my,

[00:43:45] uh,

[00:43:45] friends and fam

[00:43:46] and then I asked him

[00:43:47] to do the podcast

[00:43:47] and it was awesome

[00:43:48] and I mean,

[00:43:49] yeah,

[00:43:49] we did one that was

[00:43:50] before I think

[00:43:50] the drought ending year

[00:43:51] and then the other one

[00:43:52] or maybe a year before

[00:43:53] and then another one,

[00:43:55] uh,

[00:43:56] shortly,

[00:43:56] uh,

[00:43:56] shortly after

[00:43:57] and,

[00:43:58] um,

[00:43:58] yeah,

[00:43:59] man,

[00:43:59] I mean,

[00:43:59] he's a really insightful guy.

[00:44:01] He's a really,

[00:44:02] uh,

[00:44:03] true baseball.

[00:44:04] He loves it,

[00:44:05] dude.

[00:44:05] Um,

[00:44:06] and look,

[00:44:07] everyone has their own

[00:44:07] experiences and encounters

[00:44:08] with people.

[00:44:09] Um,

[00:44:10] but,

[00:44:11] uh,

[00:44:11] I,

[00:44:12] uh,

[00:44:13] after talking to him

[00:44:14] a little bit,

[00:44:14] I mean,

[00:44:14] he even told me,

[00:44:16] uh,

[00:44:16] I think when they were,

[00:44:18] we had to reschedule once

[00:44:19] but it was,

[00:44:19] the trade deadline

[00:44:20] was going on.

[00:44:21] He's like,

[00:44:21] I'm running late.

[00:44:22] You know,

[00:44:22] I had all these meetings.

[00:44:23] I'm like,

[00:44:23] bro,

[00:44:23] why don't we reschedule?

[00:44:24] I can't believe I'm trying

[00:44:25] to get you to pack this in

[00:44:26] like two hours before

[00:44:27] the trade deadline.

[00:44:28] Like he was going to be

[00:44:29] on the phone,

[00:44:29] I'm sure,

[00:44:30] wheeling and dealing

[00:44:31] during the episode

[00:44:31] and then he goes like,

[00:44:33] well,

[00:44:33] let me actually give you

[00:44:34] a little bit of,

[00:44:34] uh,

[00:44:35] inside,

[00:44:35] uh,

[00:44:35] info and he told me

[00:44:36] some of the deals

[00:44:37] that we're working on

[00:44:37] and then I asked,

[00:44:38] I was like,

[00:44:39] what about Soto?

[00:44:40] And he was like,

[00:44:40] this is before Soto,

[00:44:42] I think landed with,

[00:44:42] uh,

[00:44:43] the Padres and he's like,

[00:44:44] no,

[00:44:44] we're not in that,

[00:44:45] that,

[00:44:45] uh,

[00:44:45] sweepstakes.

[00:44:46] He's like,

[00:44:46] they want too much.

[00:44:47] He's like,

[00:44:47] they want everything

[00:44:49] and there's stuff that

[00:44:50] it doesn't even make it,

[00:44:51] uh,

[00:44:51] an option.

[00:44:52] I was like,

[00:44:52] what do they want?

[00:44:52] Like,

[00:44:53] they're like,

[00:44:53] dude,

[00:44:53] give us,

[00:44:54] uh,

[00:44:55] you know,

[00:44:55] give us Julio

[00:44:56] and give us,

[00:44:57] uh,

[00:44:57] Harry Ford

[00:44:58] and give us Logan Gilbert

[00:44:59] and give me a night

[00:45:00] with your wife.

[00:45:01] And he's like,

[00:45:01] pretty much,

[00:45:02] dude.

[00:45:02] He's like,

[00:45:03] they asked for everything

[00:45:04] and then some,

[00:45:05] and it just wasn't even

[00:45:06] an option.

[00:45:06] but,

[00:45:07] uh,

[00:45:08] but I do think it,

[00:45:09] it,

[00:45:10] you know,

[00:45:10] he gets a bad rap,

[00:45:12] I think,

[00:45:13] for everything that's

[00:45:14] going on

[00:45:15] and not going on.

[00:45:16] Now,

[00:45:17] that being said,

[00:45:17] I love the Mariners.

[00:45:19] I love my team.

[00:45:20] I put so much emotional,

[00:45:21] financial energy

[00:45:22] into the team.

[00:45:23] Dude,

[00:45:24] I used to take the bus

[00:45:25] down to the Kingdom

[00:45:25] with my buddies,

[00:45:26] Adam French,

[00:45:27] Chris DeLeon,

[00:45:28] and Jonathan Stevens

[00:45:29] from Lake Forest Park

[00:45:30] to,

[00:45:31] uh,

[00:45:31] the Kingdom.

[00:45:32] And somebody's parents

[00:45:33] would pick us up

[00:45:34] on the way back.

[00:45:34] We'd buy pizzas,

[00:45:35] we'd buy this,

[00:45:36] we'd buy cardboard

[00:45:37] and Sharpies

[00:45:38] and we'd sit up

[00:45:38] in the bleachers

[00:45:39] and have signs

[00:45:40] and get on the Diamond Vision

[00:45:40] and so much emotional,

[00:45:43] uh,

[00:45:43] energy and financial,

[00:45:45] uh,

[00:45:46] you know,

[00:45:46] giveaways

[00:45:47] that we were just like

[00:45:48] drained dry.

[00:45:49] Any money we made

[00:45:50] from any jobs

[00:45:50] and it continued

[00:45:51] all the way through

[00:45:52] the 2000s

[00:45:53] and,

[00:45:54] uh,

[00:45:54] and to today.

[00:45:55] With your podcast,

[00:45:56] which if people

[00:45:56] haven't checked it out,

[00:45:57] again,

[00:45:57] we plugged it at the start,

[00:45:58] but it's called

[00:45:59] About Last Night.

[00:46:00] You do so many

[00:46:01] awesome interviews

[00:46:02] with people.

[00:46:02] The YouTube intro

[00:46:03] is hilarious,

[00:46:04] by the way.

[00:46:04] Let me,

[00:46:05] let me just add that in.

[00:46:06] Um,

[00:46:07] but with one,

[00:46:09] I think what's so cool

[00:46:10] about what you do

[00:46:11] and your podcast

[00:46:12] is it is

[00:46:13] genuine,

[00:46:14] genuine conversations.

[00:46:15] Like,

[00:46:16] it never feels like

[00:46:17] an interview

[00:46:17] when you watch

[00:46:18] those episodes.

[00:46:19] It feels like

[00:46:19] you get the best

[00:46:20] out of people,

[00:46:21] people open up,

[00:46:22] people aren't afraid

[00:46:23] to talk,

[00:46:24] and with Jerry

[00:46:24] specifically,

[00:46:25] you got a story

[00:46:26] out of him

[00:46:27] after they broke

[00:46:28] the drought

[00:46:28] that I thought

[00:46:29] was the funniest

[00:46:30] and coolest story

[00:46:31] ever,

[00:46:31] so I wanted to ask

[00:46:31] you about it.

[00:46:32] Were you shocked

[00:46:33] at all

[00:46:33] when Jerry told you,

[00:46:35] yeah,

[00:46:35] after Wins,

[00:46:36] me,

[00:46:37] some of the other

[00:46:37] front office people,

[00:46:38] even a couple

[00:46:39] people from the

[00:46:39] ownership group

[00:46:40] and Luis Castillo

[00:46:42] would rip fireball

[00:46:43] after a win.

[00:46:44] Yeah,

[00:46:44] yeah,

[00:46:44] that was awesome.

[00:46:45] I mean,

[00:46:46] again,

[00:46:46] dude,

[00:46:46] you want to talk

[00:46:47] to people like

[00:46:48] you've,

[00:46:49] I think I've always

[00:46:50] had or just gotten

[00:46:51] more comfy as the

[00:46:52] years have gone by,

[00:46:53] you know,

[00:46:54] a pretty decent

[00:46:55] ability to like

[00:46:56] just connect with

[00:46:57] people and talk

[00:46:58] to them like people

[00:46:58] and I think being

[00:46:59] around,

[00:47:00] I mean,

[00:47:00] yeah,

[00:47:00] I was definitely

[00:47:00] a little nervous

[00:47:02] when I first even

[00:47:03] met him because

[00:47:03] I'm like,

[00:47:03] holy shit,

[00:47:04] but then I'm

[00:47:05] just like you,

[00:47:06] again,

[00:47:06] a few banter,

[00:47:08] making jokes

[00:47:09] is a really

[00:47:10] actually pretty

[00:47:12] imperative,

[00:47:13] like,

[00:47:13] you know,

[00:47:14] cutting through

[00:47:14] any sort of

[00:47:15] tension or nerves

[00:47:15] for me

[00:47:16] and it also

[00:47:18] lets them know

[00:47:18] right away

[00:47:19] that like,

[00:47:19] I'm not going

[00:47:20] to just be

[00:47:20] a typical

[00:47:21] interview.

[00:47:22] I used to do

[00:47:23] a podcast

[00:47:23] with Mark Sanchez,

[00:47:24] the ex-Jets

[00:47:25] quarterback

[00:47:26] called Fourth

[00:47:27] and Forever

[00:47:27] and we went

[00:47:28] to the Pro Bowl

[00:47:29] and interviewed

[00:47:29] Deshaun Watson

[00:47:30] pre-massage

[00:47:31] and Jason Kelsey

[00:47:32] and Miles Teller

[00:47:33] before Top Gun

[00:47:34] came out

[00:47:34] and the McCordy

[00:47:35] twins and then,

[00:47:35] you know,

[00:47:36] my girl Carissa

[00:47:37] Thompson

[00:47:37] and Rex Ryan

[00:47:39] and I would

[00:47:40] always be,

[00:47:40] you know,

[00:47:41] Mark was the

[00:47:41] ex's and O's guy

[00:47:42] but he really

[00:47:42] loosened up

[00:47:43] with me

[00:47:43] because I would

[00:47:44] loosen up

[00:47:45] and like make

[00:47:45] jokes right

[00:47:46] out of the get-go

[00:47:46] to just try to

[00:47:47] like level

[00:47:47] the playing field

[00:47:48] and be like,

[00:47:48] we're just

[00:47:49] hanging out,

[00:47:50] you know,

[00:47:50] and that's

[00:47:50] kind of how

[00:47:51] I like to do

[00:47:51] my stand-up too

[00:47:52] is make it feel

[00:47:53] like just a big

[00:47:53] conversation

[00:47:54] that we're

[00:47:54] hanging out

[00:47:54] that really

[00:47:55] we could be

[00:47:56] doing this

[00:47:56] in somebody's

[00:47:56] basement

[00:47:57] or somebody's

[00:47:59] you know,

[00:47:59] sex dungeon

[00:48:00] wherever Lyle's

[00:48:01] broadcasting from

[00:48:01] but you have

[00:48:02] a way to

[00:48:04] just like

[00:48:04] just connect

[00:48:05] really

[00:48:06] that's all

[00:48:06] and get

[00:48:08] strip away

[00:48:09] the true

[00:48:10] interview stuff

[00:48:11] and it sometimes

[00:48:12] does make the

[00:48:12] conversation all

[00:48:13] over the place

[00:48:13] and I always have

[00:48:14] a map

[00:48:14] even when I just

[00:48:15] went to Arizona

[00:48:16] and had Cal Raleigh

[00:48:17] on the day he got

[00:48:18] nominated for a gold

[00:48:19] glove

[00:48:20] it,

[00:48:21] you know,

[00:48:22] we've been talking

[00:48:22] over Instagram

[00:48:23] but I never met

[00:48:24] so we met

[00:48:25] and then had a

[00:48:26] 90-minute conversation

[00:48:27] and like

[00:48:28] that's pretty cool

[00:48:29] to me

[00:48:29] to afterwards

[00:48:31] I mean

[00:48:32] now I'd say

[00:48:32] you know

[00:48:32] and then

[00:48:33] we did a

[00:48:33] Dr. Phil live

[00:48:34] in New York

[00:48:34] at the Beacon

[00:48:35] Theater last weekend

[00:48:36] and George Kirby

[00:48:37] and Taylor Sauceto

[00:48:38] had come to my

[00:48:39] show in St. Louis

[00:48:41] and so I knew

[00:48:42] that George was

[00:48:43] in New York

[00:48:43] and so I hit up Cal

[00:48:44] and was like

[00:48:44] hey can you

[00:48:44] connect us

[00:48:45] and he had no

[00:48:46] problem

[00:48:46] and George came

[00:48:47] out with a couple

[00:48:47] buddies

[00:48:47] and had a

[00:48:48] fucking blast

[00:48:48] and that guy's

[00:48:49] cool as shit

[00:48:51] and so

[00:48:53] the podcast

[00:48:53] is also a great

[00:48:54] way just to like

[00:48:55] build rapport

[00:48:55] and have

[00:48:56] you know

[00:48:57] a quick

[00:48:58] a sped up

[00:49:00] you know

[00:49:01] experience to like

[00:49:02] get to know somebody

[00:49:03] and as you guys

[00:49:04] know too

[00:49:04] it's just a great

[00:49:05] advantage to

[00:49:06] to have that

[00:49:07] in your wheelhouse

[00:49:08] but yeah

[00:49:10] I just wanted to

[00:49:10] feel like a hang

[00:49:11] and not an interview

[00:49:12] right

[00:49:12] that definitely

[00:49:13] is important

[00:49:14] to me

[00:49:15] I was gonna say

[00:49:16] when did

[00:49:16] the your

[00:49:17] the walls

[00:49:18] to you

[00:49:19] connecting more

[00:49:20] personally with the

[00:49:21] Mariners start

[00:49:22] like what

[00:49:22] what year was that

[00:49:24] you know

[00:49:24] I think that was

[00:49:27] so Bob

[00:49:28] Stelton

[00:49:30] who's a good

[00:49:30] bud

[00:49:30] is

[00:49:31] hit me up

[00:49:32] I did a show

[00:49:32] in the triple door

[00:49:34] with Michael

[00:49:34] Rappaport

[00:49:35] and Sean Kemp

[00:49:36] was on it

[00:49:37] and I hit up

[00:49:38] Rappaport

[00:49:38] and I was like

[00:49:38] I gotta come up

[00:49:39] and like do some

[00:49:40] time on the show

[00:49:40] because I want to

[00:49:41] meet Kemp

[00:49:41] and he was like

[00:49:42] for sure

[00:49:42] so he came up

[00:49:43] we all kicked it

[00:49:44] and then that's

[00:49:45] you know

[00:49:45] ended up keeping

[00:49:46] in touch with Kemp

[00:49:46] and he did my

[00:49:47] Dr. Phil live

[00:49:48] in Seattle

[00:49:48] with Rick Riz

[00:49:49] and Joel McHale

[00:49:50] and the fish

[00:49:52] market guys

[00:49:53] which is on YouTube

[00:49:54] if you want to

[00:49:54] check that out

[00:49:55] but Kemp

[00:49:55] was incredible

[00:49:56] and then we did

[00:49:57] a two and a half

[00:49:57] hour podcast

[00:49:58] in Kemp's

[00:50:00] the basement

[00:50:00] of his

[00:50:01] Kemp's Cannabis

[00:50:02] it's also on YouTube

[00:50:03] and I went through

[00:50:04] and edited it

[00:50:04] in pictures

[00:50:05] and videos

[00:50:05] and it's a full

[00:50:06] on two hour

[00:50:06] like NBA TV

[00:50:08] chat

[00:50:08] that's like

[00:50:09] if you want to

[00:50:10] see a true

[00:50:12] retrospective

[00:50:12] of Sean Kemp's

[00:50:13] life and career

[00:50:14] and like a stripped

[00:50:15] away

[00:50:15] we're cursing

[00:50:16] and joking

[00:50:16] and I mean

[00:50:17] that's the move

[00:50:18] but yeah

[00:50:19] Bob put me in touch

[00:50:21] with Kevin Martinez

[00:50:22] who's a gangster

[00:50:23] to get a first pitch going

[00:50:24] we got that going

[00:50:25] and then I met

[00:50:26] Tyler who does

[00:50:27] all the in-game

[00:50:28] entertainment

[00:50:29] and he got me

[00:50:30] to do a video

[00:50:31] for the Jumbotron

[00:50:32] to kind of hype up

[00:50:33] the Mariners

[00:50:34] which was a fucking dream

[00:50:35] and then

[00:50:36] anytime I come through

[00:50:37] and maybe get a suite

[00:50:38] for my birthday

[00:50:38] or whatever

[00:50:39] and a lot of the first

[00:50:40] pitches have fallen

[00:50:41] on my birthday

[00:50:41] and so they

[00:50:42] a lot of

[00:50:43] just two

[00:50:44] but

[00:50:45] they're good about

[00:50:46] like throwing

[00:50:46] you know the moose

[00:50:47] to come by

[00:50:48] and some other shit

[00:50:49] and some gifts

[00:50:50] for kids

[00:50:50] and then

[00:50:52] from there

[00:50:52] I just

[00:50:52] after the first pitch

[00:50:54] I

[00:50:56] that was with Dylan Moore

[00:50:57] and so then we started

[00:50:58] chatting on Instagram

[00:50:59] and then

[00:50:59] Ty France

[00:51:00] was one of my favorite

[00:51:01] players

[00:51:01] and so I just hit him

[00:51:02] up on the gram

[00:51:03] and was like

[00:51:03] bro I'm doing this

[00:51:04] next first pitch

[00:51:05] like you're my favorite

[00:51:06] M

[00:51:06] like would you catch it

[00:51:07] he did

[00:51:08] and then we started

[00:51:08] keeping in touch

[00:51:09] and

[00:51:11] and then I hit up

[00:51:12] Mitch Hanager

[00:51:13] about some shit

[00:51:14] I also have no problem

[00:51:15] just being like

[00:51:15] maybe the blue check mark

[00:51:17] helps a little bit

[00:51:17] as far as them being like

[00:51:18] oh who's this

[00:51:19] but um

[00:51:20] you know

[00:51:21] when I ran into

[00:51:22] Kyle Raleigh

[00:51:23] and Brian Wu

[00:51:23] at Innings Fest

[00:51:24] last year

[00:51:25] which they do

[00:51:25] before spring training

[00:51:27] Ryan Dempster's a homie

[00:51:28] and I went out there

[00:51:29] to do his podcast

[00:51:29] and then just stay

[00:51:30] for Chris Stapleton

[00:51:31] and I'm walking out

[00:51:33] and I'm shit faced

[00:51:34] and uh

[00:51:35] it was like

[00:51:36] I had done a show

[00:51:37] and then I was

[00:51:37] there in Stapleton

[00:51:39] and like Dustin Pedroia's there

[00:51:40] and like all these

[00:51:41] you know

[00:51:41] met Sean Casey

[00:51:43] who is a gangster

[00:51:44] and like

[00:51:45] one of the most

[00:51:46] savvy

[00:51:46] excited

[00:51:47] enthusiastic

[00:51:47] baseball guys

[00:51:48] you'll ever be around

[00:51:49] he told me Griffey stories

[00:51:50] for days

[00:51:51] which were awesome

[00:51:52] and um

[00:51:53] and so

[00:51:54] I see them walking out

[00:51:56] I'm wearing my marriage hat

[00:51:56] as usual

[00:51:57] and so I just screamed

[00:51:58] at them

[00:51:59] and they turn around

[00:52:00] and then Kyle

[00:52:00] walked over

[00:52:01] because he's like

[00:52:02] oh should I follow

[00:52:02] this guy on Instagram

[00:52:03] and so that was cool

[00:52:04] and that at least like

[00:52:05] broke the uh

[00:52:05] the ice

[00:52:06] but um

[00:52:07] just taking swings man

[00:52:08] hitting sight

[00:52:09] into people's DMs

[00:52:11] what's up

[00:52:11] I'm a fan

[00:52:12] this and that

[00:52:12] you know

[00:52:13] Blake Snell and I

[00:52:14] met at spring training

[00:52:15] and we actually went

[00:52:16] to rival high schools

[00:52:17] and so I was just

[00:52:18] texting with him yesterday

[00:52:19] because I was telling him

[00:52:19] to check out the Dr. Phil special

[00:52:21] and he was like

[00:52:21] already watched it

[00:52:22] hilarious

[00:52:23] fucking what's up

[00:52:24] and then I go

[00:52:25] yeah I thought about

[00:52:25] at the end

[00:52:26] putting um

[00:52:27] hey uh

[00:52:28] Jerry uh

[00:52:29] make the deal

[00:52:29] Snell wants to play here

[00:52:30] and uh

[00:52:31] and uh

[00:52:32] I won't say what he said

[00:52:34] but um

[00:52:34] it uh

[00:52:35] yeah

[00:52:36] he he

[00:52:36] I mean

[00:52:36] it's obviously

[00:52:37] it's public knowledge

[00:52:38] he wants to fucking

[00:52:39] you know

[00:52:39] be in Seattle

[00:52:40] but I just don't know

[00:52:41] if we're gonna make it happen

[00:52:41] but um

[00:52:43] so yeah

[00:52:43] just hitting people up

[00:52:44] like that

[00:52:45] and being like

[00:52:45] I'm a fan

[00:52:46] and then most people

[00:52:46] are cool back

[00:52:47] and you just

[00:52:47] and you read the room

[00:52:48] right

[00:52:48] if it's like a

[00:52:49] two word thing

[00:52:50] or they just like

[00:52:51] your fucking comment

[00:52:52] then you're like

[00:52:52] cool

[00:52:53] this is probably

[00:52:53] not the friendship

[00:52:54] for them

[00:52:54] um

[00:52:55] and I'll uh

[00:52:56] you know

[00:52:57] and I'll delete

[00:52:57] the app

[00:52:57] but uh

[00:52:58] not now

[00:52:59] there are occasions

[00:53:00] where like

[00:53:00] I remember about

[00:53:01] six years ago

[00:53:03] I was in

[00:53:05] New York

[00:53:05] maybe ten years ago

[00:53:07] actually

[00:53:07] it was definitely

[00:53:07] pre my wife

[00:53:08] and I um

[00:53:10] uh

[00:53:12] I hit up

[00:53:12] Katy Perry

[00:53:13] to come to my show

[00:53:14] I saw she was in

[00:53:15] New York

[00:53:16] and I was just like

[00:53:17] what the

[00:53:18] what do we got

[00:53:19] to lose

[00:53:19] you know

[00:53:20] she's a firework

[00:53:22] you know

[00:53:22] I went to Boom City

[00:53:24] in uh

[00:53:24] Mukilteo

[00:53:25] when I was a kid

[00:53:26] and some weird guy

[00:53:27] tried to sell us

[00:53:28] a fucking

[00:53:29] missile

[00:53:29] you ever go to Boom City

[00:53:30] it's like where they sell fireworks

[00:53:32] uh

[00:53:32] in way north Seattle

[00:53:33] and we were there

[00:53:34] and the guy was like

[00:53:35] we walk up

[00:53:35] we're in sixth grade

[00:53:36] by the way

[00:53:37] and our friend's dad

[00:53:37] dropped us off

[00:53:39] and the guy goes

[00:53:40] what's up fellas

[00:53:41] how you guys doing

[00:53:42] just total like

[00:53:43] rat

[00:53:44] ponytail

[00:53:45] rat tail

[00:53:46] herpes

[00:53:47] HPV

[00:53:48] you know

[00:53:48] fucking HBO

[00:53:49] he had everything going on

[00:53:50] and he's like

[00:53:51] you guys feeling good today

[00:53:53] what's going

[00:53:53] happy 4th of July

[00:53:54] happy 3rd of July

[00:53:55] baby

[00:53:55] we're like

[00:53:56] how you doing man

[00:53:57] I can't complain

[00:53:59] my wife

[00:54:00] my wife let me

[00:54:02] work on her birthday

[00:54:04] so I can't complain

[00:54:05] I did uh

[00:54:06] break my ankle

[00:54:07] last week

[00:54:08] getting out of a car

[00:54:09] so

[00:54:09] I guess I gotta complain

[00:54:11] a little bit

[00:54:12] like where you from man

[00:54:13] he's like

[00:54:14] Tacoma

[00:54:15] like

[00:54:15] smells like it

[00:54:16] so then

[00:54:17] he goes

[00:54:19] he goes

[00:54:20] you guys cops

[00:54:21] he asked us

[00:54:22] if we were cops

[00:54:23] I'm like

[00:54:23] dude we're in 6th grade

[00:54:24] what the fuck

[00:54:25] are you talking about

[00:54:26] you guys look like cops

[00:54:28] alright

[00:54:28] well

[00:54:29] you look like

[00:54:30] you have a drinking problem

[00:54:30] what are we doing right now

[00:54:31] he's like

[00:54:32] well

[00:54:34] just wanna make sure

[00:54:35] cause I was gonna

[00:54:36] offer you guys

[00:54:36] some bees

[00:54:36] and some roman candles

[00:54:37] but

[00:54:38] if you're not cops

[00:54:39] check out this shit

[00:54:40] and he pulls out

[00:54:41] a fucking

[00:54:42] Iraqi missile

[00:54:43] and he's like

[00:54:44] you can use this

[00:54:45] on anybody

[00:54:45] or any species

[00:54:46] we're like

[00:54:46] we'll just take

[00:54:48] some fucking

[00:54:50] slugs

[00:54:50] and some

[00:54:52] poppets

[00:54:52] and call it a day

[00:54:53] dude

[00:54:53] but thanks for

[00:54:54] scaring us

[00:54:56] you know

[00:54:57] on a

[00:54:58] on a Sunday afternoon

[00:54:59] so

[00:55:00] so

[00:55:03] yeah

[00:55:03] Katy Perry

[00:55:04] didn't respond

[00:55:04] but

[00:55:05] a lot of M's

[00:55:06] have hit me back

[00:55:06] that got it going

[00:55:07] that got me more

[00:55:08] invested in the team

[00:55:09] from that

[00:55:10] I started going

[00:55:10] to more games

[00:55:12] I started visiting

[00:55:13] Riz in the broadcast

[00:55:14] booth pretty much

[00:55:15] every game

[00:55:15] that's how I started

[00:55:16] to get to know

[00:55:16] the rest of those guys

[00:55:18] obviously the Jerry

[00:55:19] pods were fun

[00:55:20] and then

[00:55:20] and then you know

[00:55:21] getting to be

[00:55:22] homies with Tyler

[00:55:23] doing the in-game stuff

[00:55:24] and we're

[00:55:24] I think I'm gonna

[00:55:24] go down to spring training

[00:55:25] and shoot a lot of M's

[00:55:26] content for them this year

[00:55:27] and and Cal and George

[00:55:29] are both like

[00:55:30] dude we need to do

[00:55:31] some like fun shit

[00:55:32] where like we put you

[00:55:33] through the ringer

[00:55:33] and you do like a day

[00:55:34] you know as a

[00:55:35] as a player basically

[00:55:36] and go through the

[00:55:37] go through all the workouts

[00:55:38] and I'm like

[00:55:39] I'm pumped man

[00:55:40] I mean I

[00:55:41] I love

[00:55:43] Mariners baseball

[00:55:44] like it

[00:55:44] as frustrating as it is

[00:55:46] dude and that's why

[00:55:47] I was talking to Bob

[00:55:48] Stelton about this

[00:55:48] I was like bro

[00:55:49] we can complain all day

[00:55:50] you can get on

[00:55:51] Wyman and Bob

[00:55:52] and fucking say

[00:55:53] all the shit

[00:55:53] that drives you crazy

[00:55:55] you ain't going anywhere

[00:55:56] dude

[00:55:56] you ain't going anywhere

[00:55:57] it's too fun

[00:55:59] the season starts

[00:56:00] it's do baseball in Seattle

[00:56:01] I have to

[00:56:02] I struggle to like

[00:56:03] not go home

[00:56:04] for the whole summer

[00:56:04] and go down to

[00:56:05] Hatback Grill

[00:56:06] and like go

[00:56:06] you know I went up

[00:56:07] for the All-Star game

[00:56:08] I think that's where

[00:56:08] I ran into you

[00:56:09] one time Lyle Wright

[00:56:11] down pregame

[00:56:12] but yeah I went down

[00:56:14] to do Wyman and Bob

[00:56:16] and then do Ryan

[00:56:16] the intentional talk

[00:56:18] during the All-Star game

[00:56:19] and like being around

[00:56:19] that was incredible

[00:56:20] and I just love it dude

[00:56:23] it's being at the park

[00:56:24] is my favorite

[00:56:25] doing Wyman and Bob

[00:56:26] from the Edgers Cantina

[00:56:27] like pregame

[00:56:28] and then sticking around

[00:56:29] and like

[00:56:30] it's just awesome dude

[00:56:31] I love night games

[00:56:32] I love day games

[00:56:33] but look

[00:56:34] it is way more fun

[00:56:35] when the team is fun

[00:56:36] to root for

[00:56:36] so I hope that they make

[00:56:37] a few more moves

[00:56:38] knock on wood

[00:56:39] and make it exciting

[00:56:41] because dude

[00:56:42] it's truly a bummer

[00:56:44] when you're just watching

[00:56:45] a team that's so close

[00:56:47] and you've got

[00:56:48] such good core pieces man

[00:56:49] so it's like

[00:56:50] a couple guys

[00:56:51] here and there dude

[00:56:52] could really

[00:56:52] and also

[00:56:53] you know

[00:56:53] George and Salcedo

[00:56:54] even told me

[00:56:55] in St. Louis

[00:56:55] I was like

[00:56:56] you know

[00:56:56] because we were having

[00:56:57] a classic

[00:56:57] you know collapse

[00:56:59] and I mean

[00:57:00] what do we miss

[00:57:00] the playoffs again

[00:57:01] by one game

[00:57:01] I mean that's

[00:57:02] we've done that

[00:57:03] what three out of

[00:57:03] the last six years

[00:57:04] maybe or

[00:57:05] Lyle and I counted

[00:57:06] I think it's five of 11

[00:57:09] that's wild dude

[00:57:10] and

[00:57:11] and

[00:57:12] if that happens once

[00:57:14] like the

[00:57:15] like the first time

[00:57:15] it happened I guess

[00:57:17] the year before the drought

[00:57:18] right we missed by a game

[00:57:19] I think

[00:57:20] or before the

[00:57:21] the walk off

[00:57:25] that

[00:57:25] that was like

[00:57:26] we hadn't gotten

[00:57:27] that close in a while

[00:57:28] so you almost

[00:57:29] were more accepting

[00:57:29] of that

[00:57:30] because you're like

[00:57:31] alright

[00:57:31] like here we are baby

[00:57:33] we're so close

[00:57:33] but like this year

[00:57:35] was like

[00:57:35] and what George said

[00:57:38] was

[00:57:38] hey man

[00:57:39] everyone just had

[00:57:40] a career low year

[00:57:41] he goes

[00:57:42] we have the guys

[00:57:43] and I'm like

[00:57:44] I hear you

[00:57:45] you do

[00:57:45] be awesome

[00:57:46] to have a few more

[00:57:47] he's like

[00:57:47] I hear you

[00:57:48] we got the guys

[00:57:50] everybody just

[00:57:51] you know

[00:57:51] without saying it

[00:57:52] it's like

[00:57:52] a lot of people

[00:57:53] took dips

[00:57:54] that like

[00:57:54] you could not

[00:57:55] have foreseen

[00:57:56] I think we should

[00:57:57] bring Gino Suarez

[00:57:58] back

[00:57:59] I think that

[00:57:59] energy is missed

[00:58:00] in the clubhouse

[00:58:01] I think

[00:58:02] that's 40 home runs

[00:58:03] that you would love

[00:58:04] to have

[00:58:06] I don't care

[00:58:07] that he strikes out

[00:58:07] a lot

[00:58:08] people love him

[00:58:09] he's a fan favorite

[00:58:10] that shit goes

[00:58:10] a long way dude

[00:58:11] that's just

[00:58:12] that's a

[00:58:13] that's a

[00:58:14] tone deaf move

[00:58:15] by ownership

[00:58:15] or Jerry

[00:58:16] or Justin

[00:58:18] to just be like

[00:58:19] strikes out too much

[00:58:21] oh cool

[00:58:22] let's go get

[00:58:26] Richie Sexton

[00:58:27] who they fucking

[00:58:28] pick up

[00:58:29] Louis Sirius

[00:58:30] who

[00:58:31] right

[00:58:32] exactly

[00:58:34] so

[00:58:34] again dude

[00:58:35] tomato tomato

[00:58:36] Ray Romano

[00:58:36] it's all subjective

[00:58:37] everyone thinks

[00:58:38] they know better

[00:58:39] but

[00:58:40] hey man

[00:58:40] at a certain point

[00:58:42] the fans do know better

[00:58:43] do you know what I'm saying

[00:58:44] it's not like

[00:58:45] you know

[00:58:46] it's not like

[00:58:47] I don't have

[00:58:48] a hairy back

[00:58:49] so

[00:58:49] I'm not gonna tell

[00:58:50] Salk how to shave his

[00:58:51] does that make sense

[00:58:54] yeah

[00:58:55] yeah it does

[00:58:56] okay

[00:58:57] I wanna get to some of your

[00:58:59] your Netflix special stuff

[00:59:01] but I wanna follow up

[00:59:01] with two quick things

[00:59:03] to

[00:59:03] what you just answered

[00:59:05] number one

[00:59:06] about the first pitches

[00:59:09] I wanna go back

[00:59:10] to honestly

[00:59:10] what you said about

[00:59:11] when you were throwing out

[00:59:12] other first pitches

[00:59:12] and planning some of your

[00:59:13] shows around

[00:59:14] where the Mariners

[00:59:15] were gonna be

[00:59:16] did you ever feel

[00:59:17] like a little bit

[00:59:18] of a sellout

[00:59:18] when you have to wear

[00:59:19] another jersey

[00:59:20] on another field

[00:59:21] a thousand percent

[00:59:22] bro

[00:59:22] so I've done Arizona

[00:59:23] for the Diamondbacks

[00:59:26] Pittsburgh

[00:59:26] and then St. Louis

[00:59:27] I learned my lesson

[00:59:28] Arizona

[00:59:29] they were like

[00:59:30] you can't

[00:59:30] they gave

[00:59:31] my wife's from there

[00:59:32] so

[00:59:32] we

[00:59:33] closed out the weekend

[00:59:34] of shows

[00:59:35] by going to the game

[00:59:35] and my wife's

[00:59:38] dad is down there

[00:59:39] I'm using his glove

[00:59:40] we're playing catch

[00:59:40] he's like

[00:59:41] this is so freaking cool

[00:59:41] he's like

[00:59:42] are you freaking kidding me

[00:59:42] are you freaking kidding me

[00:59:43] dude

[00:59:43] you're using my middle school glove

[00:59:45] we're down here on the field

[00:59:46] playing catch

[00:59:46] and he's a huge baseball fan

[00:59:48] and Diamondbacks fan

[00:59:48] he couldn't believe it

[00:59:49] it was like

[00:59:50] he almost cried

[00:59:52] and so that was fun

[00:59:53] you're wearing the jersey

[00:59:53] they gifted us a suite

[00:59:55] for my fam

[00:59:56] and some friends

[00:59:58] that live there

[00:59:59] couldn't go

[01:00:00] against the grain

[01:00:01] and break the rules

[01:00:02] Pittsburgh

[01:00:02] same thing

[01:00:03] they're like

[01:00:04] it was my weekend of shows

[01:00:05] I roasted the Steelers

[01:00:08] the Wednesday before that

[01:00:09] they had their rookie talent show

[01:00:11] that they always do

[01:00:12] that you see on Hard Knocks

[01:00:12] I thought it was going to be

[01:00:13] just the rookies

[01:00:14] I walk in

[01:00:14] it's the whole team

[01:00:15] dude

[01:00:15] it's Mike Tomlin

[01:00:16] it's Justin Fields

[01:00:17] Russell Wilson's up front

[01:00:18] I'm like Russ

[01:00:19] I go dude

[01:00:19] first of all

[01:00:20] give it up for Russell Wilson

[01:00:21] guys

[01:00:21] I go dude

[01:00:21] Russ is here

[01:00:22] this guy man

[01:00:23] dude Russ

[01:00:23] I'm so glad you're in Pittsburgh

[01:00:24] man

[01:00:24] you got a fresh start

[01:00:26] dude

[01:00:26] you deserve this man

[01:00:27] you are a goat

[01:00:27] thanks for all the memories

[01:00:28] in Seattle man

[01:00:29] we loved you

[01:00:29] we miss you

[01:00:30] you got fucked in Denver dude

[01:00:32] you got fucked

[01:00:33] I haven't seen somebody

[01:00:34] get fucked that hard

[01:00:35] unless it was being taped

[01:00:36] at Diddy's house

[01:00:36] and I'm so happy

[01:00:38] that you're back

[01:00:39] doing your thing

[01:00:40] and that like got a big

[01:00:41] that was my first joke

[01:00:42] and then I gave him

[01:00:43] like a dab

[01:00:44] and then

[01:00:46] did the shows that weekend

[01:00:47] go do the first pitch

[01:00:48] they're like

[01:00:48] you can't

[01:00:50] wear M stuff

[01:00:50] and I was like

[01:00:51] alright

[01:00:51] so I'm wearing it

[01:00:52] and I go out there

[01:00:53] and all of a sudden

[01:00:54] I see

[01:00:55] Saucedo

[01:00:55] and Demo

[01:00:56] and some other guys

[01:00:57] other guys that I didn't even know

[01:00:59] knew of me

[01:01:00] and maybe my comedy

[01:01:01] that turned out

[01:01:03] were following my bullshit

[01:01:04] so they're all looking at me

[01:01:05] because they're like

[01:01:06] comedian

[01:01:06] blah blah blah

[01:01:06] and I see them all

[01:01:07] looking over at me

[01:01:08] and then they see me

[01:01:09] in the Pirates jersey

[01:01:10] and they all start going like

[01:01:10] what the fuck

[01:01:11] what the fuck

[01:01:13] what are you doing

[01:01:13] and I was like

[01:01:14] sorry

[01:01:15] and then I started explaining

[01:01:15] I was like

[01:01:17] it was still 24

[01:01:17] I go

[01:01:18] at least it's Griffey's number

[01:01:19] and I'm doing this with a jersey

[01:01:20] I go

[01:01:20] they made me wear it

[01:01:21] but it's Griffey's number

[01:01:22] and sorry

[01:01:23] they made me do it

[01:01:24] and whatever

[01:01:25] I throw my first pitch

[01:01:26] I'm nervous

[01:01:27] always nervous

[01:01:28] first one in Seattle

[01:01:29] I threw a fucking

[01:01:30] you know

[01:01:30] rookie of the year

[01:01:32] Thomas Ian Nicholas

[01:01:33] strike from center field

[01:01:34] dude

[01:01:34] I mean it was like

[01:01:35] I had two Bud Light Limes

[01:01:37] and I was dialed in dude

[01:01:38] I was like Brock

[01:01:39] before going to Curves

[01:01:40] on a Tuesday

[01:01:41] do you know what I'm saying

[01:01:41] where you're like

[01:01:42] dude

[01:01:42] my delts are in check

[01:01:43] my neck

[01:01:44] is good

[01:01:45] my eyes

[01:01:46] you know

[01:01:46] moved a little bit

[01:01:47] closer together

[01:01:47] so you know

[01:01:49] and this is my time

[01:01:51] but

[01:01:53] Pittsburgh was a different story

[01:01:54] bounced it

[01:01:56] everyone starts laughing

[01:01:58] so I'm like

[01:01:58] oh that's cool

[01:01:59] right

[01:01:59] the thing I was like

[01:02:00] trying to do a bit

[01:02:00] I go

[01:02:01] one more pitch

[01:02:02] one more pitch

[01:02:03] you know

[01:02:03] one more

[01:02:03] and I think the

[01:02:04] commentator's like

[01:02:05] Ray's asking for another pitch

[01:02:07] this is

[01:02:07] you know

[01:02:07] only Bob Costas

[01:02:08] has ever done this

[01:02:09] and so then he

[01:02:11] throws the pitch back

[01:02:12] and I look over the M's

[01:02:13] and you know

[01:02:14] whatever

[01:02:14] I'm like sorry

[01:02:15] and I bounce it again

[01:02:16] and then they start booing

[01:02:17] and then I was like

[01:02:18] one more

[01:02:18] get the fuck out of here

[01:02:20] I walk off

[01:02:22] by the way

[01:02:23] Adam Jude

[01:02:24] is his name

[01:02:25] right

[01:02:25] is that

[01:02:25] yeah

[01:02:26] beat writer

[01:02:28] and I've heard he's a sweet guy

[01:02:29] and he definitely looks like

[01:02:31] a guy who says his own name

[01:02:33] when he comes

[01:02:33] but this is a guy

[01:02:35] that

[01:02:35] that

[01:02:37] gets on Twitter

[01:02:38] and look

[01:02:40] you're the press baby

[01:02:41] your job is to report

[01:02:42] your job is to

[01:02:43] to get stories

[01:02:45] to

[01:02:45] to

[01:02:45] to

[01:02:46] to juice things up

[01:02:48] to like

[01:02:48] you know

[01:02:49] stir the pot

[01:02:49] when there's no water

[01:02:50] in the soup

[01:02:51] I mean

[01:02:52] I look on Twitter

[01:02:53] and this guy

[01:02:55] who we've corresponded

[01:02:56] a little bit now

[01:02:57] and I think are fine

[01:02:57] but

[01:02:59] you know

[01:02:59] I'm in my head

[01:03:00] about like

[01:03:01] oh dude

[01:03:01] the M's are like

[01:03:03] thinking I'm like

[01:03:03] a fucking traitor

[01:03:04] like these players

[01:03:05] like what are you doing

[01:03:06] I mean I was definitely

[01:03:07] overthinking it

[01:03:07] and then I look on Twitter

[01:03:09] and Jude puts

[01:03:11] you know

[01:03:11] comedian

[01:03:12] Adam Ray

[01:03:13] and you know

[01:03:14] huge Mariners fan

[01:03:16] throws

[01:03:16] two of the worst pitches

[01:03:17] in MLB history

[01:03:19] which I got no problem

[01:03:20] with that

[01:03:21] jabs and jokes

[01:03:21] dude

[01:03:22] you gotta have thick skin

[01:03:24] I subscribe to hit him

[01:03:25] and hug him

[01:03:26] do you know what I'm saying

[01:03:26] that's why

[01:03:27] any jokes I make

[01:03:28] towards Brock and Salk

[01:03:29] it's nothing but love dude

[01:03:29] you guys have

[01:03:30] a killer show

[01:03:32] I listen

[01:03:33] to

[01:03:33] to

[01:03:34] that show

[01:03:35] and Wyman and Bob

[01:03:36] all the time

[01:03:38] but you gotta be able

[01:03:38] to laugh at yourself

[01:03:39] if you can't

[01:03:40] if you take yourself

[01:03:40] too seriously

[01:03:41] like

[01:03:42] you know

[01:03:43] that's wild

[01:03:44] and I'm fair game too man

[01:03:45] you gotta

[01:03:45] hit him and hug him

[01:03:47] but nobody

[01:03:47] you know

[01:03:48] anyway

[01:03:48] so

[01:03:50] he's like

[01:03:50] the worst pitch in history

[01:03:51] I was like

[01:03:51] alright

[01:03:51] didn't add an LOL

[01:03:52] or a smiley face

[01:03:53] and then goes

[01:03:54] taunts

[01:03:55] and then he goes

[01:03:55] throws the worst pitch in history

[01:03:56] and then proceeds to

[01:03:58] taunt

[01:03:59] his own team

[01:04:00] and then I think

[01:04:01] he even put like

[01:04:02] can't believe

[01:04:03] like what I just saw

[01:04:04] and I'm like

[01:04:06] hey dickhead

[01:04:07] not at all

[01:04:08] what happened

[01:04:08] like if also

[01:04:09] you're gonna report

[01:04:10] the story

[01:04:10] get the facts straight

[01:04:12] hit me up

[01:04:12] and go

[01:04:13] what were you saying

[01:04:13] to the

[01:04:14] to the sidelines

[01:04:15] do you know what I'm saying

[01:04:16] so that drove me through the wall

[01:04:17] I hit him up

[01:04:18] and I was like

[01:04:18] dude

[01:04:18] I don't know

[01:04:19] you know

[01:04:20] who touched you

[01:04:21] or who didn't hug you

[01:04:22] but fucking

[01:04:23] this is like

[01:04:24] you're making this day

[01:04:25] even worse for me

[01:04:26] by attacking me

[01:04:27] and saying that

[01:04:27] I hate my own team

[01:04:29] and then he didn't respond

[01:04:30] and then a few people

[01:04:31] hit me up

[01:04:31] and were like

[01:04:33] Jude's a good guy man

[01:04:34] leave him alone

[01:04:34] and I was like

[01:04:35] alright

[01:04:36] what did he

[01:04:37] you know

[01:04:38] what sort of

[01:04:39] you know

[01:04:40] strip club

[01:04:40] did he get you into

[01:04:41] where you're like

[01:04:42] dude

[01:04:42] this guy's my guy man

[01:04:44] he does look like

[01:04:45] he goes to the strip club

[01:04:46] that being said

[01:04:47] I'm sure he's a great

[01:04:47] family man

[01:04:48] but you know

[01:04:49] there's just certain guys

[01:04:50] you look at

[01:04:51] and you're like

[01:04:51] you have the bone structure

[01:04:52] of a guy

[01:04:52] that gave $80

[01:04:53] to a girl named

[01:04:54] Cinnamon Twist

[01:04:55] so

[01:04:57] cut to St. Louis

[01:04:58] Bush Stadium

[01:04:59] I like how you guys

[01:05:00] are keeping it clean

[01:05:00] by the way

[01:05:01] Lyle wants to laugh more

[01:05:02] but he's like

[01:05:03] dude

[01:05:03] these are comrades

[01:05:04] and peers

[01:05:04] we gotta keep it together

[01:05:05] TJ's just thinking

[01:05:06] about the fucking

[01:05:07] Costco pizza

[01:05:08] so

[01:05:09] I'm at

[01:05:10] yeah

[01:05:11] mouth closed

[01:05:12] no smile

[01:05:12] there are those gums

[01:05:13] so

[01:05:14] I go to Bush Stadium

[01:05:15] St. Louis

[01:05:15] right

[01:05:16] and I'm like

[01:05:17] I will not have a

[01:05:18] repeat performance

[01:05:19] in Pittsburgh

[01:05:20] and so

[01:05:22] I go out

[01:05:23] I have a game plan

[01:05:23] I'm like

[01:05:24] I'm wearing a Rick Riz

[01:05:25] jersey

[01:05:25] underneath

[01:05:26] my St. Louis jersey

[01:05:27] unbeknownst to them

[01:05:29] I also walk out

[01:05:30] with a

[01:05:30] Budweiser

[01:05:31] right

[01:05:31] home of

[01:05:33] St. Louis

[01:05:33] Bush

[01:05:35] is

[01:05:35] you know

[01:05:35] the people

[01:05:36] Anheuser-Busch

[01:05:37] so I put it in my back pocket

[01:05:38] and one of my best friends

[01:05:40] who

[01:05:41] you know

[01:05:42] his book saw

[01:05:42] all these comedy clubs

[01:05:43] in Arizona

[01:05:44] and is a part of the Dr. Phil Tour

[01:05:46] the company that does our tour

[01:05:50] he's from St. Louis

[01:05:51] diehard cards fan

[01:05:52] I go

[01:05:52] you gotta come out

[01:05:52] I'm doing a first pitch

[01:05:53] you gotta come on the field with me

[01:05:55] he comes on the field

[01:05:55] it's amazing

[01:05:57] he's losing his mind

[01:05:58] he can't believe

[01:05:59] he's never been down there

[01:05:59] and

[01:06:00] I go

[01:06:01] you're gonna go out with me

[01:06:02] to hold my beer

[01:06:02] I'm gonna take my beer out

[01:06:04] of my back pocket

[01:06:04] take a swig

[01:06:05] hand it to you

[01:06:06] get the crowd fired up

[01:06:07] and then take my jersey off

[01:06:08] and point to the back

[01:06:10] I give Riz a shout out

[01:06:11] Riz was loving it

[01:06:12] and then

[01:06:12] and then through

[01:06:14] the ball

[01:06:14] and then I run up

[01:06:15] and I grab their bird

[01:06:16] like rooster

[01:06:17] tee feathers

[01:06:18] or foghorn leghorn

[01:06:19] or Ellen Clay

[01:06:20] whatever

[01:06:21] Tweety Bird

[01:06:22] fucking

[01:06:23] whatever

[01:06:23] I hug their cardinal

[01:06:26] and I pick him up

[01:06:27] and I spin him around

[01:06:28] and

[01:06:29] and I'm spinning him around

[01:06:31] and I go

[01:06:31] I go

[01:06:31] this is the greatest day

[01:06:32] of my life

[01:06:33] and dude

[01:06:33] these guys in the suit

[01:06:34] are like taught

[01:06:35] to not break the fourth wall

[01:06:37] but this guy

[01:06:38] as I'm spinning around

[01:06:38] goes

[01:06:39] alright man

[01:06:39] put me down

[01:06:40] like through the bird

[01:06:41] through the bird mask

[01:06:42] so which was

[01:06:43] really funny

[01:06:44] and

[01:06:45] and then

[01:06:46] you know

[01:06:46] that's when

[01:06:47] South Sater hit me up

[01:06:48] and was like

[01:06:48] way to redeem yourself

[01:06:49] and then

[01:06:50] they came out to the show

[01:06:51] but

[01:06:51] that was a much

[01:06:53] cleaner performance

[01:06:53] I could walk off the field

[01:06:55] also got a lot of love

[01:06:57] from M's fans

[01:06:58] that were like there

[01:06:59] and even just baseball fans

[01:07:00] were like

[01:07:01] dude that was gangster

[01:07:02] like

[01:07:02] you know

[01:07:02] no one's

[01:07:03] I don't think

[01:07:03] done that before

[01:07:04] I drank a beer

[01:07:05] on the mound

[01:07:07] and then Jude

[01:07:08] was you know

[01:07:09] kind enough

[01:07:09] to immediately retweet

[01:07:10] and go

[01:07:11] yeah dude

[01:07:11] like

[01:07:12] that's my guy

[01:07:13] where was that guy

[01:07:14] in Pittsburgh

[01:07:15] but the damage

[01:07:16] had already been done

[01:07:18] that was sick

[01:07:19] okay

[01:07:21] last follow up

[01:07:22] before we

[01:07:22] before we talk

[01:07:23] a little bit

[01:07:23] about your show

[01:07:24] is

[01:07:25] you've been a Mariner

[01:07:26] and

[01:07:27] oh

[01:07:27] this has been great

[01:07:29] I mean

[01:07:29] how do

[01:07:29] how do we compare

[01:07:30] to some of these

[01:07:31] other

[01:07:31] I was gonna say

[01:07:32] how do we compare

[01:07:32] to some of these

[01:07:33] dying podcasts

[01:07:33] you've been on recently

[01:07:34] like Rogan

[01:07:35] and Bustin' with the Boys

[01:07:36] oh man

[01:07:37] you guys are great man

[01:07:38] I mean you guys

[01:07:39] talk about

[01:07:40] mermaids and Trump

[01:07:41] a little less than Rogan

[01:07:42] but

[01:07:43] but this is

[01:07:44] this is my new spot

[01:07:46] dude

[01:07:46] this is my new

[01:07:47] this is gonna be in the

[01:07:48] rotation for press now

[01:07:49] you know

[01:07:49] been doing a lot of press

[01:07:50] for the Dr. Phil

[01:07:52] Unleashed special

[01:07:52] streaming now on Netflix

[01:07:54] but

[01:07:55] that's why I was like

[01:07:56] this is an appropriate

[01:07:56] time to come on

[01:07:57] and hopefully

[01:07:57] give your guys' audience

[01:08:00] or hopefully get

[01:08:01] your audience

[01:08:02] to come check out

[01:08:03] the special

[01:08:04] you know

[01:08:05] yeah

[01:08:05] absolutely

[01:08:06] okay

[01:08:06] last quick thing

[01:08:08] is since you grew up

[01:08:09] a Mariner's fan

[01:08:09] grew up a Mariner's fan

[01:08:11] I wanted to ask you this

[01:08:12] bigger thrill

[01:08:13] in your lifetime

[01:08:14] watching Edgar's

[01:08:16] double in 1995

[01:08:17] or getting to tell

[01:08:18] Larry David

[01:08:19] he's a one star

[01:08:19] Uber passenger

[01:08:20] great question

[01:08:21] Lau

[01:08:21] Curbs my favorite show

[01:08:23] that was like

[01:08:24] outer body experience

[01:08:25] the audition was

[01:08:26] almost crazier

[01:08:26] than the

[01:08:27] I went in twice

[01:08:28] there was two Uber

[01:08:29] drivers in that episode

[01:08:30] one had a

[01:08:31] Eastern European accent

[01:08:32] and one didn't

[01:08:32] first time I go in

[01:08:33] he's sitting behind me

[01:08:35] in a chair

[01:08:35] and I'm listening to him

[01:08:36] talk and I'm like

[01:08:37] dude I feel like I'm

[01:08:38] listening to the show

[01:08:39] right now

[01:08:39] this is fucking wild

[01:08:40] do you know what I'm

[01:08:41] saying

[01:08:42] and then we got

[01:08:42] and I was like

[01:08:43] they go don't try to

[01:08:44] be funny

[01:08:44] they give you literally

[01:08:45] they go you're gonna

[01:08:46] tell Larry he's one star

[01:08:46] at one point

[01:08:47] that's all they tell you

[01:08:49] so he gets in the car

[01:08:49] he's like how's it going

[01:08:50] I go good man

[01:08:50] I go can you not put your

[01:08:52] put your feet on the seat

[01:08:53] he goes

[01:08:54] how'd you know I was

[01:08:55] doing

[01:08:55] I go I just

[01:08:57] got that clean it's not

[01:08:58] even my car

[01:08:58] he's like whose car is it

[01:08:59] I go I'd rather not say

[01:09:00] he goes you don't want

[01:09:01] me to put this feet on

[01:09:02] the seat but you don't

[01:09:03] want to like to say

[01:09:03] whose car it is

[01:09:04] and I go yeah just I

[01:09:05] don't know just chill

[01:09:06] down man and he goes

[01:09:07] you got any gum I go

[01:09:08] no I don't carry gum

[01:09:08] people always just

[01:09:09] stick it on the windows

[01:09:10] and stuff he goes

[01:09:10] what do you drive

[01:09:11] around a lot of kids

[01:09:12] I go I don't think

[01:09:13] I like your attitude

[01:09:13] right now man he's

[01:09:14] like what does that

[01:09:15] mean I go I don't

[01:09:17] know you just you get

[01:09:17] in here man you're one

[01:09:18] star he's like one

[01:09:19] star I'm five stars I

[01:09:20] go well you might feel

[01:09:22] like a five but you're a

[01:09:23] one which they had me

[01:09:24] keep to say in the

[01:09:25] actual show I go I

[01:09:26] don't know man just

[01:09:27] got in my car you just

[01:09:27] you got all this like

[01:09:28] weird like energy like

[01:09:30] you're definitely on

[01:09:30] something if you look

[01:09:32] you got like this suck

[01:09:33] fuck energy like you

[01:09:34] know like you're just

[01:09:34] gonna be like sucking

[01:09:35] something and fucking

[01:09:36] somebody he goes there's

[01:09:37] no sucking there's no

[01:09:38] fucking and then he

[01:09:38] starts laughing and then

[01:09:40] and then we got into

[01:09:41] another fight and it

[01:09:43] was really like

[01:09:44] unbelievable and then

[01:09:45] I came back and did it

[01:09:46] again as the with an

[01:09:47] accent and then part of

[01:09:49] me was like dude the

[01:09:50] audition was enough I

[01:09:51] don't even need to get the

[01:09:52] job and then I got the

[01:09:53] job and it was

[01:09:54] unbelievable and then

[01:09:54] real quick story about

[01:09:57] five months later I'm on

[01:09:58] the patio of the comedy

[01:09:59] store with Harlan

[01:09:59] Williams you know from

[01:10:00] Half-Baked something

[01:10:01] about Mary and Dumb

[01:10:03] and Dumber and he goes

[01:10:04] oh look at this Larry

[01:10:05] David as a guy's walking

[01:10:06] down the hill and I go

[01:10:07] oh some guy that looks

[01:10:08] like Larry David it's

[01:10:09] Larry David he was

[01:10:10] getting ready to host

[01:10:10] SNL Pete Davidson was

[01:10:12] dating his daughter Pete

[01:10:13] was on a show there and

[01:10:14] he goes Pete was like come

[01:10:15] work out your monologue at

[01:10:16] the comedy store

[01:10:17] Harlan's like you should

[01:10:18] go say what's up to

[01:10:18] him you just did the

[01:10:19] show right I go he's

[01:10:20] not gonna know I walk up

[01:10:21] I go hey Larry he goes

[01:10:23] Adam and I'm like yeah

[01:10:24] and he goes oh we were

[01:10:25] just editing your episode

[01:10:26] it was hilarious I go

[01:10:27] cool what are you doing

[01:10:27] here he's like ah Pete

[01:10:28] wants me to pop in the

[01:10:29] show me and run my

[01:10:30] mind I'm like let's see

[01:10:31] let's see I don't know

[01:10:33] I don't know if I'm

[01:10:33] gonna do it I go dude

[01:10:34] you look like you're

[01:10:35] lost have you been here

[01:10:36] in a while he goes it's

[01:10:36] been 37 years since I've

[01:10:37] been to the comedy store

[01:10:38] I go bro you want me to

[01:10:39] show you around he goes

[01:10:39] yeah so I'm walking on

[01:10:41] the comedy store with

[01:10:42] Larry David he hasn't

[01:10:43] been there in 37 years

[01:10:44] all these employees are

[01:10:44] looking at me like hey

[01:10:46] Adam I'm like keep it

[01:10:48] together don't you fuck

[01:10:49] yourself with me I take

[01:10:51] him to all these rooms

[01:10:51] we sit and watch the

[01:10:52] show at the end of the

[01:10:54] night he goes up by the

[01:10:55] way I think I posted a

[01:10:56] video of it on my

[01:10:56] Instagram somewhere

[01:10:57] Chris Catan goes all

[01:10:58] right this next guy

[01:10:58] needs no introduction

[01:10:59] Larry David now when

[01:11:01] Chappelle pops in and

[01:11:01] does stand-up he gets a

[01:11:03] big pop people know

[01:11:04] it's him because

[01:11:04] Chappelle is doing he's

[01:11:06] always popping in places

[01:11:07] he's known that he's

[01:11:08] doing stand-up

[01:11:08] regularly Larry David

[01:11:10] hasn't done stand-up

[01:11:10] in a hot minute I think

[01:11:12] 10 years minimum and

[01:11:15] so Chris Catan goes

[01:11:16] Larry David and people

[01:11:17] are just kind of like

[01:11:18] what right like

[01:11:19] because no one's

[01:11:20] singing it and he's

[01:11:21] didn't hear his name

[01:11:22] called so then he

[01:11:23] comes out delayed and

[01:11:23] as soon as he hits the

[01:11:25] stage I'm not joking

[01:11:25] guys every standing

[01:11:27] ovation and it was

[01:11:28] unbelievable and then

[01:11:28] he crushed and then he

[01:11:30] comes back to me and he

[01:11:30] goes he goes that was

[01:11:31] fun let's do this again

[01:11:32] sometime and I was like

[01:11:33] wow dude that was

[01:11:34] unbelievable but

[01:11:37] watching Greg Perkle

[01:11:38] field grounders at first

[01:11:40] base no I'm sorry

[01:11:41] Edgar Martinez I'm

[01:11:43] just trying to flex my

[01:11:44] Mariner player knowledge

[01:11:47] give me wait real quick

[01:11:48] before I talk about the

[01:11:49] double and then we'll get

[01:11:50] out of here give me your

[01:11:51] top three most like random

[01:11:53] Mariners that you like have

[01:11:55] any knowledge of or if

[01:11:56] you're trying to like make

[01:11:57] a joke you know I'm

[01:11:58] saying like there's like a

[01:12:00] you know we've had some

[01:12:01] fun on the show right and

[01:12:02] there's you're making a

[01:12:02] joke like if you have like a

[01:12:03] jokey name like if I do a

[01:12:05] joke and I say like you

[01:12:06] know blah blah blah and

[01:12:07] like no thanks Eli or like

[01:12:08] Cameron is usually like a

[01:12:09] fun white guy name to be

[01:12:10] like you fucking twat right

[01:12:12] so like what is a Mariner like

[01:12:14] Henry Cotto I've made jokes

[01:12:16] about right Tuffy goes

[01:12:17] which would you call me

[01:12:19] right exactly Tuffy goes

[01:12:21] which yeah real Mariner

[01:12:23] I don't believe you he's a

[01:12:25] Sun Devil too like us all

[01:12:27] right enough TJ why what do

[01:12:28] you got man we've we've

[01:12:30] talked about Carlos

[01:12:31] Pagaro a lot that was my

[01:12:33] weird favorite player in the

[01:12:35] 2010s where the guy he's

[01:12:36] your classic he would hit a

[01:12:38] ball 500 feet once every

[01:12:39] hundred of bats and then

[01:12:40] the other 99 would be

[01:12:41] strikeouts and I don't

[01:12:42] know 13 14 year old me was

[01:12:44] enamored by him yeah dude

[01:12:45] so I would say him I would

[01:12:48] say Rich Amaral I mean so

[01:12:50] I mean I wasn't alive for

[01:12:51] Rich Amaral but I've watched

[01:12:52] that my oh my documentary a

[01:12:53] million times incredible

[01:12:54] right yeah yeah how about

[01:12:56] like Tom Wilhelmson the

[01:12:58] boat who doesn't love a

[01:12:58] bartender yeah I know dude

[01:13:00] or um I mean Justin

[01:13:01] smokes not random what we

[01:13:03] probably have the major

[01:13:06] league record for most

[01:13:07] players that had potential

[01:13:08] that didn't fulfill their

[01:13:09] potential huh Dustin

[01:13:11] Ackley and Justin

[01:13:12] smoke should be Hall of

[01:13:13] Famers Danny Holton

[01:13:14] Zanino Zanino Zanino

[01:13:17] yeah Zanino rough go dude

[01:13:20] um so Edgar double I'm

[01:13:23] downstairs in uh the

[01:13:24] family room single mom

[01:13:26] sister uh greatest thing

[01:13:29] I've ever seen in my I

[01:13:31] mean when Salk and this is

[01:13:33] my one beef with Salk

[01:13:34] when he was like dude

[01:13:36] that's a wrap on like the

[01:13:37] 95 Mariners we got to stop

[01:13:39] talking about 95 I'm like

[01:13:41] bitch you're from Boston

[01:13:42] you weren't here for it

[01:13:44] also here's why we can't

[01:13:46] move on from that ever it's

[01:13:49] saved baseball in Seattle

[01:13:50] case in point do I'm saying

[01:13:52] so to ever be like enough is

[01:13:55] wild a it was the most

[01:13:57] exciting time I think that

[01:14:00] Seattle has ever experienced

[01:14:02] Seahawks yeah dude I mean

[01:14:03] wild like we got some fun we

[01:14:06] have had some exciting runs

[01:14:08] dude uh Sonics for sure dude

[01:14:10] when we come back it's gonna

[01:14:11] be gangbusters I can't wait

[01:14:12] but dude we hadn't had

[01:14:15] baseball like that ever so

[01:14:16] you're you're looking at the

[01:14:17] timing of that how that team

[01:14:20] came together that run we

[01:14:21] went on the players in the

[01:14:23] heart of Griffey era one of

[01:14:24] the best players of all time

[01:14:25] top five for sure and then

[01:14:27] that hit the way that game

[01:14:29] ended is uh is wild dude and

[01:14:34] um that double I ran around

[01:14:36] uh the house and then I ran

[01:14:38] outside and I say probably

[01:14:40] 30 people in our cul-de-sac

[01:14:41] were outside to running and

[01:14:43] screaming I hugged a lot of

[01:14:44] people I've never met somebody

[01:14:46] kissed me um I think it was a

[01:14:48] man but I it also might have

[01:14:50] been a woman but there was a

[01:14:51] mustache women can have

[01:14:52] mustaches too don't cancel me

[01:14:53] and so uh it was a glorious day

[01:14:56] dude and it was uh game

[01:14:58] changing they had Tampa Bay

[01:14:59] Mariners stuff already printed

[01:15:01] up so Salk I'm sorry dude you

[01:15:03] got to check your shit that

[01:15:05] season and that series saved

[01:15:07] baseball in Seattle we

[01:15:08] wouldn't have Salk would be

[01:15:10] what would you be talking

[01:15:11] about dude pickleball you and

[01:15:12] Lefkoe fucking ooh sign me up

[01:15:15] said nobody ever do you know

[01:15:16] what I'm saying like you have

[01:15:19] no your shows would be from

[01:15:21] 6 to 8 30 because you

[01:15:22] wouldn't have anything to talk

[01:15:23] about and you'd have to listen

[01:15:24] to Brock talk about how he you

[01:15:26] know about how he started two

[01:15:27] games in college and how he can

[01:15:29] power clean more than most uh

[01:15:31] you know lacrosse players

[01:15:33] whatever you know I'm saying

[01:15:34] so thank God that 95 happened

[01:15:38] anyway the special is called

[01:15:40] Adam Ray is Dr. Phil and

[01:15:41] Least streaming now on Netflix

[01:15:43] you guys are the shit thanks

[01:15:45] for having me uh adamray.com

[01:15:47] for all my stand-up tour dates

[01:15:48] and all the Dr. Phil live tour

[01:15:50] dates I'll be at the uh Carco

[01:15:51] Theater in Renton December 13th

[01:15:53] and 14th I think both shows are

[01:15:55] sold out um but uh but how

[01:15:57] about this if a fan hits you

[01:15:59] guys up and says they like the

[01:16:00] interview uh I'll hook him up

[01:16:02] uh with a couple tickets but

[01:16:04] they gotta say they gotta

[01:16:05] answer how about this trivia

[01:16:06] question all right let's and

[01:16:08] this will actually be a test to

[01:16:10] see how many people check out

[01:16:11] this episode and this is at the

[01:16:12] very end um answer this

[01:16:17] Mariner trivia question who did uh

[01:16:22] who did we who do the

[01:16:25] Mariners uh fuck they're gonna be

[01:16:26] able to look this up actually how

[01:16:29] about this you guys answer and if

[01:16:30] you get it right then I'll give

[01:16:31] two tickets away and you guys can

[01:16:32] just pick two fans fans just got to

[01:16:34] hit you up and say what they liked

[01:16:36] about the episode and then you

[01:16:37] guys can use your discretion

[01:16:39] okay who what who was the first

[01:16:41] basin first baseman that the

[01:16:42] Mariners um picked up after we let

[01:16:45] Tino Martinez go so 1996 Tino goes

[01:16:52] to the Yankees Mariners set the

[01:16:53] record I think for most home runs

[01:16:55] in a season I think it was like 289 or

[01:16:57] something um but we had a power

[01:16:59] lineup Griffey a rod Buhner um Edgar

[01:17:04] uh Julio Cruz I think which was who

[01:17:07] was supposed to be another a rod um

[01:17:08] Russ Davis who I think hit 30 home

[01:17:11] runs um but who was at first base

[01:17:14] dude yeah this is a good trivia

[01:17:17] question because this is after Tino

[01:17:20] and before over and I think uh before
