01:19 --> 01:31 [SPEAKER_01]: And we welcome each this episode of the Marine Lair podcast part of the just baseball podcast network recording here on Sunday evening March 1st I just got to give ourselves a round of applause for this week dog nice work
01:32 --> 01:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Not bad.
01:32 --> 01:42 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to sit here and like make this all that much about us because really none of this happens without everybody that tunes in and listens and watches.
01:42 --> 01:44 [SPEAKER_02]: That's the only way all this stuff is made possible.
01:44 --> 01:50 [SPEAKER_02]: But yes, to actually sit down and execute a lot of these sit down and interviews throughout the week, that was pretty cool.
01:51 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad we got the big fish.
01:52 --> 02:02 [SPEAKER_01]: We said we were gonna go big game hunting, and I think we have a very solid lineup of big game mariners for you guys over the course of the next week.
02:02 --> 02:03 [SPEAKER_01]: So here's the schedule.
02:03 --> 02:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Of course we have Cal today.
02:05 --> 02:07 [SPEAKER_01]: He was as good as he is.
02:07 --> 02:08 [SPEAKER_01]: He is available.
02:08 --> 02:09 [SPEAKER_01]: He is talkative.
02:09 --> 02:10 [SPEAKER_01]: He can have a laugh.
02:11 --> 02:12 [SPEAKER_01]: He's great.
02:12 --> 02:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Among all the superstars are Major League Baseball.
02:15 --> 02:16 [SPEAKER_01]: He is the most available.
02:17 --> 02:18 [SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, I feel like he's the most relatable.
02:18 --> 02:20 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that comes out in the center view.
02:20 --> 02:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Gabe Sparrow will be on Wednesday right before Team USA kicks off their play in the WBC and then Logan Gilbert will be next Monday, while the regular mailback episode on Friday.
02:32 --> 02:34 [SPEAKER_01]: That is quite a lineup.
02:34 --> 02:35 [SPEAKER_01]: It is quite a lineup of guys.
02:35 --> 02:36 [SPEAKER_02]: That's pretty cool.
02:37 --> 02:43 [SPEAKER_02]: And what's amazing is we almost had one more because we were scheduled to sit out with Price Miller, too, just to be fully transparent with everybody.
02:43 --> 02:48 [SPEAKER_02]: But it was supposed to be on Saturday, and if you guys were following the Mariners news throughout the weekend,
02:48 --> 02:53 [SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, on Saturday, he had a little bit of a setback with an injury, so that one ended up not happening.
02:54 --> 02:56 [SPEAKER_01]: It kind of makes more sense now, right?
02:56 --> 03:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Because we, so we've been trying to schedule with him throughout the week.
03:00 --> 03:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Do we know when exactly he got hurt, by the way?
03:03 --> 03:05 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they said.
03:05 --> 03:10 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it was post-art, or if it was during practice, but it was at some point.
03:10 --> 03:11 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they specified.
03:12 --> 03:14 [SPEAKER_02]: But again, when we schedule with him throughout the week,
03:15 --> 03:18 [SPEAKER_02]: We've talked about this about Bryce, and we'll say it here again.
03:18 --> 03:28 [SPEAKER_02]: He is very open, he's personable, he's fun to talk to, and when he has time, he's usually available to make time.
03:28 --> 03:35 [SPEAKER_02]: So we had scheduled out some time to sit down with him, and we thought, okay, that's a great, we'd love to sit down and talk to Bryce Miller.
03:35 --> 03:42 [SPEAKER_02]: But on Saturday when you can firm with them, you give you a little bit of a wishy-washy answer, which sometimes that does happen with players.
03:42 --> 03:42 [SPEAKER_02]: Don't get me wrong.
03:43 --> 03:45 [SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes things come up or sometimes guys get a little bit of cold feet.
03:46 --> 03:48 [SPEAKER_02]: That's not usually how bright Miller is at all.
03:49 --> 03:51 [SPEAKER_02]: And when I happened, I said to myself,
03:51 --> 03:52 [SPEAKER_02]: That's a little weird.
03:52 --> 03:54 [SPEAKER_02]: That doesn't really sound like price.
03:54 --> 03:54 [SPEAKER_02]: They got it.
03:54 --> 03:55 [SPEAKER_02]: He's usually so open.
03:56 --> 03:56 [SPEAKER_01]: He's open.
03:56 --> 03:58 [SPEAKER_01]: He and like he knows who we are, right?
03:59 --> 04:01 [SPEAKER_01]: We're not some stranger who's asking him to come on a podcast.
04:01 --> 04:02 [SPEAKER_01]: He's never heard of before.
04:02 --> 04:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
04:03 --> 04:06 [SPEAKER_01]: So like, and then I also like clarified asked him, I'm like, oh, are you throwing a bullpen today?
04:06 --> 04:10 [SPEAKER_01]: And clearly he said, no, what I was like, oh, I'm like that.
04:10 --> 04:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Great.
04:10 --> 04:10 [SPEAKER_01]: There should be plenty.
04:11 --> 04:12 [SPEAKER_01]: There should be plenty of time.
04:12 --> 04:15 [SPEAKER_01]: But then when he's like, yeah, he gives you a little wishy-wash answer.
04:15 --> 04:21 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, that doesn't really sound like price.
04:21 --> 04:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Right, and usually injured players aren't going to go out and like openly talk.
04:28 --> 04:30 [SPEAKER_02]: No, extensively at least.
04:31 --> 04:35 [SPEAKER_01]: No, because then they're going to get asked about the injury and the team doesn't want the player talking about his injury.
04:36 --> 04:37 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
04:37 --> 04:43 [SPEAKER_02]: So hopefully down the road with Bryce at some point, I'm sure we'll talk to him just like off the mic throughout the year.
04:43 --> 04:48 [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm sure we'll do some social content with him too, at some point during the season, maybe a few times.
04:49 --> 04:53 [SPEAKER_02]: But regardless of that, as cool as that final one would have been,
04:53 --> 05:02 [SPEAKER_02]: We did for a really, really fun sit down interviews again, Cal, Logan, Team USA, reliever Gabe Spire and Future Mariners Hall of Famous Rick Riz.
05:02 --> 05:04 [SPEAKER_02]: That one's already out if you want to check that out.
05:04 --> 05:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was on Friday in case you missed it.
05:07 --> 05:11 [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to have plenty of time to listen to all of this stuff before the season starts.
05:11 --> 05:13 [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like all of this information is
05:13 --> 05:17 [SPEAKER_01]: very relevant heading up to the season and hope you guys make sure to tune in for all of these.
05:18 --> 05:29 [SPEAKER_01]: But before we get to this interview at Cal, anything else on the top of your mind that we didn't get to talk about on either Tuesday or when we recorded for Wednesday's episode or Friday's episode while they're down there, it's spring training.
05:29 --> 05:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe perhaps now that the sun is not melting your brain, you have a little bit more time to think.
05:35 --> 05:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Anything you think we miss.
05:38 --> 05:39 [SPEAKER_02]: anything we missed.
05:40 --> 05:45 [SPEAKER_02]: I think my single biggest take away from the whole week is what we've already talked about, but I'll double down on it one more time.
05:46 --> 05:52 [SPEAKER_02]: The two new Mariners are almost psychotic workers in Brennan, not of an Rob Ruff Center.
05:53 --> 05:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Rob Ruff Center gave us a couple of great lines this week.
05:55 --> 05:57 [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about the first one where
05:57 --> 05:58 [SPEAKER_01]: on his off day.
05:58 --> 06:00 [SPEAKER_01]: We tried to grab him for social content.
06:00 --> 06:08 [SPEAKER_01]: He wanted to go to the field instead to watch the starting picture for the guardians, uh, can't tell.
06:09 --> 06:13 [SPEAKER_01]: And we want to ask Shen and Dreyer who's been covering the Mariners for a long, long time.
06:13 --> 06:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Shen and have you ever heard of a player doing that in your time covering the Mariners?
06:18 --> 06:20 [SPEAKER_01]: She looked at us and said, no.
06:20 --> 06:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Now, to be fair, she did clarify with me a little that she's heard more often a player's going into the dugout and watching rather than something like sitting in the stands.
06:29 --> 06:30 [SPEAKER_02]: For example, because that's not what Repp Snyder was doing.
06:31 --> 06:32 [SPEAKER_02]: I think he was sitting in the dugout.
06:32 --> 06:34 [SPEAKER_02]: It'll be a little more common.
06:34 --> 06:40 [SPEAKER_02]: She was telling me right before we left that sometimes players will go watch a picture, but it's still not common.
06:40 --> 06:42 [SPEAKER_02]: It's still not regular practice.
06:42 --> 06:44 [SPEAKER_02]: That is very...
06:44 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_02]: It's in her weeks ahead.
06:46 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
06:46 --> 06:48 [SPEAKER_02]: Four weeks ahead of when they're going to see him.
06:48 --> 06:51 [SPEAKER_02]: And refsiders just he's like he's on it.
06:51 --> 06:52 [SPEAKER_02]: He's gonna go watch him.
06:52 --> 07:06 [SPEAKER_02]: He wants to pick up his tendencies because for one game in one start three weeks from now for potentially two to three about he's going to get he's like a better be ready and then the second piece of the second thing Refsnotter told us it was on Saturday.
07:07 --> 07:08 [SPEAKER_01]: We were getting ready to leave for the airport.
07:08 --> 07:11 [SPEAKER_01]: We had probably about 30 more minutes until we had to leave
07:11 --> 07:13 [SPEAKER_01]: and we had one singular goal.
07:14 --> 07:15 [SPEAKER_01]: We're waiting for Rob Raff Snyder.
07:15 --> 07:19 [SPEAKER_01]: We knew he was in the cage, and he was the one guy we hadn't gotten yet.
07:19 --> 07:28 [SPEAKER_01]: There was waitin' him out, and we eventually got him, and we did some social content with him, and we're done with the second piece of content with him, and he goes, anything else you guys got?
07:28 --> 07:41 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't think I'm gonna be available during the season, because I'm just gonna be so focused on hitting in the cage, so we might as well get it done right now.
07:41 --> 07:44 [SPEAKER_02]: He usually when players were done, they're ready to get back inside.
07:44 --> 07:47 [SPEAKER_02]: But dude, shout out Rob, shout out Rob Reffsnerner.
07:47 --> 07:51 [SPEAKER_02]: He was, again, for that time, he was available.
07:51 --> 07:53 [SPEAKER_02]: He was transparent, he was very nice.
07:53 --> 07:55 [SPEAKER_02]: We had a nice conversation with him.
07:55 --> 08:00 [SPEAKER_02]: But he said, yeah, usually if you're, if you're going to grab me for an interview, it's really good to do it in bulk.
08:00 --> 08:02 [SPEAKER_02]: Because during the year, man, am I busy?
08:02 --> 08:07 [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, well, she out of for telling us, because now we have some things we can space out.
08:08 --> 08:11 [SPEAKER_01]: So Rob Raff Snyder gets an A plus on our report card.
08:11 --> 08:17 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, these two guys, I was telling you on the car right back, I'm like seeing Dotovan and Raff Snyder in person.
08:18 --> 08:32 [SPEAKER_01]: On top of Josh Nailer, by the way, who we don't talk about enough for the off season, adding those two guys on and watching how much they work their tails off in the cage to be the best version of themselves and to boost this Mariners offense.
08:33 --> 08:37 [SPEAKER_01]: Like the off season's up to an A grade for me.
08:38 --> 08:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I might leave it in an A-minus, but that's okay.
08:41 --> 08:43 [SPEAKER_01]: It is into the A category, I think.
08:43 --> 08:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Very, I feel so comfortable that this is an A-cap category.
08:47 --> 08:53 [SPEAKER_01]: These are the type of guys that make everyone else around them better, just because of
08:53 --> 09:06 [SPEAKER_01]: say like a whole young is hitting there on the cage and Cole's watching Brennan down of him like two cages down doing his angle swing the other way and just going over and over and over and Cole's done and he feels a little bit tired.
09:06 --> 09:08 [SPEAKER_01]: This is all hypothetical by the way.
09:08 --> 09:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Cole's done and tired and he's about ready to go back inside and get a smoothie and Brennan Ottoman just getting started.
09:14 --> 09:19 [SPEAKER_01]: He's got he's got another 90 minutes left in the cage and then he's got to go ahead against the Trudec trajectory as well.
09:19 --> 09:22 [SPEAKER_01]: He's the kind of guys
09:22 --> 09:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think I could work a little harder.
09:25 --> 09:26 [SPEAKER_02]: It's crazy.
09:26 --> 09:30 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to give it an A because you know what it would have taken for me to give it an A.
09:30 --> 09:31 [SPEAKER_02]: And that guy's playing an L.A.
09:33 --> 09:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Does that guy stay in the cage for three hours?
09:36 --> 09:36 [SPEAKER_02]: Kyle Tucker?
09:38 --> 09:39 [SPEAKER_02]: Probably not.
09:39 --> 09:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Based on some of the information that came out about Kyle Tucker, I'm going to say he's not a three-hour in the cage guy.
09:45 --> 09:46 [SPEAKER_02]: But it's fine.
09:46 --> 09:49 [SPEAKER_02]: He's still like a 150 WRC Plus header.
09:49 --> 09:52 [SPEAKER_02]: However, you get it done, however you get it done, that all works.
09:53 --> 09:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Very fun week at Spring Training, though.
09:55 --> 09:58 [SPEAKER_02]: I guess one other little storyline would honestly be Brennan Davis.
09:58 --> 10:02 [SPEAKER_02]: And we can talk about him more throughout the week, but I wonder if we're going to see him in the big leagues this year.
10:03 --> 10:04 [SPEAKER_02]: Because he's really hitting in Spring Training.
10:05 --> 10:07 [SPEAKER_01]: So he's not going to make the team out of camp.
10:07 --> 10:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I highly doubt that, but the situation the Mariners are in.
10:11 --> 10:12 [SPEAKER_01]: They have a lot of left handed hitters.
10:14 --> 10:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Brennan Davis would be as a right-handed hitter who would be an option to be a right-handed hitter in this lineup.
10:23 --> 10:26 [SPEAKER_01]: He is a former top prospect.
10:26 --> 10:34 [SPEAKER_01]: He's suffered injuries that derailed his ability to make an impact at the AAA level and the big league level.
10:34 --> 10:48 [SPEAKER_01]: So if he's fully healthy and he's mashing into coma and subsequently the two got one of two guys would be struggling, Luke Rayley or Dom Kanzone, that would probably be his role right there.
10:50 --> 10:52 [SPEAKER_02]: And the Mariners were going to need some right-handed hitters at some point this year.
10:52 --> 10:55 [SPEAKER_02]: For as good as the team looks, they are pretty left-handed heavy.
10:56 --> 11:00 [SPEAKER_02]: So Brandon Davis gets his shot and he's playing well.
11:01 --> 11:04 [SPEAKER_02]: Feels like a little bit of balance that could be added to the Mariners lineup.
11:04 --> 11:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I think we'll have to wait until May or June to check in on this, because he's not like a cult Emerson timeline or anything, but the Mariners are gonna let all of their Big Leagueers who are pretty much guaranteed to make the Big League roster out of camp, time to get.
11:21 --> 11:22 [SPEAKER_01]: their feet under them.
11:22 --> 11:27 [SPEAKER_01]: In the season before they go about making any decisions about who's on the Big League roster and who's not.
11:27 --> 11:34 [SPEAKER_01]: But it brought in Davis goes to Tacoma and has an eight fifty to nine hundred OPS and looks solid in the outfield and feels healthy.
11:34 --> 11:38 [SPEAKER_01]: And the Mariners have struggling left-handed hitting outfielders at the Big League level.
11:38 --> 11:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I could totally see it making sense.
11:40 --> 11:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
11:41 --> 11:42 [SPEAKER_01]: I did a last thing for me, dog.
11:43 --> 11:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, at spring training.
11:45 --> 11:48 [SPEAKER_01]: This
11:49 --> 12:16 [SPEAKER_01]: He he he walked he's so he's starting on Saturday and he's all already jerseyed up I like 10 a.m. getting ready for a start and Maybe I don't pick up on this maybe I don't pick up on this enough Maybe you and I have not spent enough time at spring training He walks by me and I look up what jersey numbers you wearing he's already wearing is number 13 He hasn't made a single professional start yet
12:16 --> 12:42 [SPEAKER_01]: and Kate Anderson already has this big league number now I asked around about this one person told me yes that that is a little unique for someone who's never pitched in a big league game before not a big league game never pitch in a professional game before and then someone else told us that no it's not that serious that guys will throw in their big league numbers even foredown in the miners
12:43 --> 12:47 [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm also thinking like cold Emerson's wearing number 85 right now.
12:47 --> 12:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Cold Emerson's not going to be number 85 in the big leagues.
12:51 --> 12:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Michael Royals not going to be number 96 as a big leaguer.
12:56 --> 13:02 [SPEAKER_01]: But can't Anderson is already number 13.
13:03 --> 13:05 [SPEAKER_02]: I think Johnny Farmello's wearing a number of the 90s too.
13:05 --> 13:07 [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, like mostly his other prospects.
13:08 --> 13:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Don't have their normal numbers.
13:10 --> 13:12 [SPEAKER_01]: And I was just like, okay, well, he's serious.
13:13 --> 13:16 [SPEAKER_01]: And it checks out with everything.
13:16 --> 13:28 [SPEAKER_01]: because if you look as him personality wise and you ask about him personality wise, he's pretty serious, like he's there to do his job and do it seriously.
13:29 --> 13:34 [SPEAKER_01]: And the Marvers have essentially put challenges in front of him to match that attitude.
13:35 --> 13:40 [SPEAKER_01]: You know who this dude gets to face when he throws live, big leegers.
13:40 --> 13:44 [SPEAKER_01]: I think he's only face big leegers so far in his live at bats,
13:44 --> 13:50 [SPEAKER_01]: and uh, and when he starts the game, he's facing a starting lineup of big leaders.
13:51 --> 13:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Crazy.
13:52 --> 13:59 [SPEAKER_02]: And then, yeah, when he faced the Padres, it was all the big leaders, and the big leaders at the top of the lineup with Bogarts and Merrill and all those guys.
14:01 --> 14:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know he's a number three pick, but I don't like,
14:05 --> 14:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe me thinking.
14:07 --> 14:08 [SPEAKER_01]: I'd be like, all right.
14:08 --> 14:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's not the end of the world and his first ever spring training as a 21 year old He rolls out against a double a double a quality hitters and works his way up from there.
14:17 --> 14:17 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm there.
14:17 --> 14:27 [SPEAKER_02]: It was like no no big leegers And again, he wasn't perfect to give up a few hits, but he also struck out all three batters in the first inning
14:28 --> 14:32 [SPEAKER_01]: The student has a chance to be a different breed than anyone the Mariners have brought up.
14:32 --> 14:36 [SPEAKER_01]: And the Mariners have had some really good starters as we know just look at their starting rotation.
14:37 --> 14:55 [SPEAKER_01]: But I'll tell you what, Logan Gilbert, George Kirby, Bryce Miller, Brian Wu, Ryan Sloan, Jorangelo, they didn't get the face big leegers and their first ever or consistently face big leegers and their first ever spring training and they didn't get to pick out their big league number I don't think.
14:57 --> 15:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Kate Anderson's pretty locked in, and honestly, he feels different than a lot of these pictures in a lot of ways.
15:03 --> 15:13 [SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a little more reserved than a lot of these pictures are, because we've seen how open a lot of these starters are and how, you know, informative they are and talking if they are.
15:13 --> 15:26 [SPEAKER_02]: Now, maybe part of it, because Kate's barely been a pro so far, and he's, you know, in that way, still adjusting, but he doesn't say a whole lot.
15:28 --> 15:34 [SPEAKER_01]: If you look at another parallel from this past weekend, Ryan Sloan also got into the big leg game this weekend.
15:34 --> 15:39 [SPEAKER_01]: But he piggybacked Logan Gilbert, they're behind him through to, I think, more minor legers.
15:40 --> 15:42 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Kate's the one who got to start.
15:43 --> 15:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
15:43 --> 15:49 [SPEAKER_01]: And Ryan Sloan, by the way, is not ranked that far behind Kate Anderson as a prospect.
15:49 --> 15:55 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be floored if Kate Anderson starts anywhere besides Arkansas after seeing what I saw.
15:56 --> 15:58 [SPEAKER_02]: It feels like he's on a collision course for Arkansas, doesn't it?
15:59 --> 16:02 [SPEAKER_02]: With the way they've treated him this spring, doesn't feel like they're sending him to have it.
16:02 --> 16:07 [SPEAKER_01]: If you look at his personality, if you look who he faces, if you look at the results, yeah, I don't see him.
16:08 --> 16:13 [SPEAKER_01]: This dude in his first ever set of live-at-bats was striking out the best players in the Mariners lineup.
16:15 --> 16:17 [SPEAKER_02]: He really may be up at some point this year.
16:18 --> 16:19 [SPEAKER_02]: He really might.
16:21 --> 16:25 [SPEAKER_01]: How do you think someone like Bryce Miller thinks about this?
16:26 --> 16:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Because here Bryce is hurt and spring training.
16:30 --> 16:33 [SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna miss a week.
16:33 --> 16:38 [SPEAKER_01]: What happens when you miss a week in spring training while your entire ramp up process gets pushed a week back?
16:39 --> 16:43 [SPEAKER_01]: then if you don't have enough off days, maybe you have to miss opening day.
16:43 --> 16:54 [SPEAKER_01]: If you miss opening day, you're gonna have to start on the injured list, or the marital start with a picture down, or a roster spot down, the opening week of the season.
16:55 --> 17:07 [SPEAKER_01]: And you know that there's, there's a highly touted prospect, who the mariner's view is nearly big league ready, knocking on the door of your job.
17:08 --> 17:08 [SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
17:08 --> 17:22 [SPEAKER_01]: As good as Bryce Miller is like I wouldn't put it past Kate Anderson to look like a quality big league starter right out of the gate and that's the last thing you want if you have an injury.
17:22 --> 17:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure
17:23 --> 17:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Now, let's pump the brakes here a little bit for people that were in our comments and DMs.
17:29 --> 17:32 [SPEAKER_02]: This weekend telling us that Kate Anderson's now going to make the opening day roster.
17:32 --> 17:34 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, no, he's not.
17:34 --> 17:38 [SPEAKER_02]: Even if Bryce Miller were to start the year on the IL, it is not going to be Kate out of spring training.
17:39 --> 17:43 [SPEAKER_02]: But if you're talking about an August, well, that's a different conversation.
17:44 --> 17:47 [SPEAKER_01]: What if Bryce's bone sperm flares back up?
17:49 --> 17:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Depends on the time of year.
17:52 --> 17:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Bryce Miller's bones fur flares back up.
17:54 --> 17:56 [SPEAKER_01]: He's got to get it removed, saying hypothetically in July.
17:56 --> 17:59 [SPEAKER_01]: And then he has to miss the rest of the season.
17:59 --> 18:04 [SPEAKER_01]: And Kate Anderson comes up and cave looks outstanding for three months.
18:06 --> 18:09 [SPEAKER_01]: That sounds like a nightmare if I'm Bryce Miller.
18:10 --> 18:14 [SPEAKER_02]: A little bit, but that honestly just puts the mariners in a very interesting predicament.
18:14 --> 18:16 [SPEAKER_02]: A good one because you have so many pitchers.
18:17 --> 18:23 [SPEAKER_02]: But this could be a conversation for another day, but I'll just leave people with this thought and you with this thought if that's the case
18:24 --> 18:30 [SPEAKER_02]: Is Bryce the odd man out or is this about the time you look at flipping George Kirby next off season?
18:30 --> 18:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
18:30 --> 18:32 [SPEAKER_01]: That's more where I would lean.
18:32 --> 18:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
18:33 --> 18:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
18:33 --> 18:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not somewhat Bryce.
18:35 --> 18:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
18:35 --> 18:38 [SPEAKER_01]: But Bryce would be the one in this situation who's hurt.
18:39 --> 18:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
18:40 --> 18:41 [SPEAKER_02]: And that's how Kate Anderson would get up.
18:41 --> 18:46 [SPEAKER_02]: He's not getting up without somebody getting injured, but somebody gets injured.
18:46 --> 18:46 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
18:46 --> 18:48 [SPEAKER_02]: He comes very interesting in the second half.
18:48 --> 18:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Kate Anderson is more big league-ready than even I thought.
18:51 --> 18:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
18:52 --> 18:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Watching him.
18:53 --> 18:54 [SPEAKER_01]: So for sure.
18:54 --> 19:03 [SPEAKER_01]: The personalities we got to sort of take in down at spring training like to check out Cade and the two newcomers on offense.
19:04 --> 19:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
19:05 --> 19:09 [SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why the expectations for this group are so high and why on top of that.
19:10 --> 19:13 [SPEAKER_01]: The future is also really black, because, right, because of just blown away.
19:13 --> 19:14 [SPEAKER_01]: There's blown away.
19:14 --> 19:15 [SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty awesome.
19:15 --> 19:16 [SPEAKER_02]: It's hard not to be fired up.
19:17 --> 19:19 [SPEAKER_02]: Coming back from spring training and watching these guys.
19:20 --> 19:27 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Adam Rae even texted us and he was at spring training before us and he said, I mean, these guys are absolutely locked in.
19:27 --> 19:30 [SPEAKER_02]: And I said, well, that's great, but I'm kind of curious to see it for myself.
19:31 --> 19:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, they were.
19:32 --> 19:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you want to hear how locked in they are, I would listen to cow because cow I think really embodies that we told the story earlier in the week, but him working with Luke Stevenson is just one of a thousand examples of how bought in this team is in so many aspects.
19:51 --> 19:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Cal did touch on that a little bit.
19:52 --> 19:54 [SPEAKER_01]: We asked him about the WBC as well.
19:55 --> 19:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Talked about some of the cool moments from the 2025 season.
19:58 --> 20:00 [SPEAKER_01]: And some fun with him as well.
20:00 --> 20:02 [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't allow you thought of some really fun ones.
20:02 --> 20:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you some credit.
20:03 --> 20:05 [SPEAKER_01]: You thought of some really fun ones for us.
20:05 --> 20:06 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we had to.
20:06 --> 20:09 [SPEAKER_02]: We had to one because we wanted to be authentically ourselves.
20:09 --> 20:15 [SPEAKER_02]: That's how you put your best interview forward is not faking who you are, not trying to be somebody you're not, but just being yourself.
20:16 --> 20:20 [SPEAKER_02]: And number two, Cal's done a million of these.
20:21 --> 20:22 [SPEAKER_02]: How are we going to be different?
20:22 --> 20:23 [SPEAKER_02]: How are we going to stand out?
20:24 --> 20:27 [SPEAKER_02]: What are we going to bring to the people that's something unique from all of the other interviews he's done?
20:28 --> 20:29 [SPEAKER_02]: And I think we did our best to do that.
20:30 --> 20:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Let me just say this before we get to the interview.
20:33 --> 20:34 [SPEAKER_02]: How lucky is the out of the half-cowrally?
20:37 --> 20:37 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the luckiest.
20:39 --> 20:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Incredibly lucky.
20:41 --> 20:44 [SPEAKER_02]: You don't find many superstars that do what he does.
20:45 --> 20:47 [SPEAKER_02]: Not just on the field, but everything off of it.
20:47 --> 20:48 [SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty remarkable.
20:49 --> 20:57 [SPEAKER_02]: And I think he likes to downplay it, which is fine, and that's how Cal is, but the reality of it is it's pretty remarkable.
20:58 --> 21:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you can hear, because we, in the interview, we go, I think we joke like, oh, you're the most available superstar in baseball.
21:05 --> 21:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, not super, super star.
21:07 --> 21:08 [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, come on, Cal.
21:09 --> 21:13 [SPEAKER_02]: No, you are, we'll say it, you don't have to say it, but we'll say it.
21:13 --> 21:17 [SPEAKER_01]: So you'll hear that and more, we get you to the interview with Cal Rally, won't keep you any longer.
21:19 --> 21:24 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, we have a very, very, very, very special guest on with us.
21:24 --> 21:26 [SPEAKER_01]: It's Mariners Catcher, Cal Raleigh.
21:27 --> 21:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Cal, thanks for joining us.
21:28 --> 21:29 [SPEAKER_01]: How are you?
21:29 --> 21:30 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm good, are you?
21:30 --> 21:31 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm good.
21:31 --> 21:37 [SPEAKER_01]: And I asked that, and maybe even a deeper way, because the last year has been the most probably chaotic thing ever.
21:38 --> 21:40 [SPEAKER_01]: And you do a lot now.
21:40 --> 21:41 [SPEAKER_01]: You do a lot more.
21:41 --> 21:44 [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like then you did in your first few years with Mariners.
21:45 --> 21:46 [SPEAKER_01]: So really, are you tired?
21:47 --> 22:03 [SPEAKER_03]: um no uh it's just it's part of it right I mean it's gotten to be a lot more but it's um you know it's still I think the most important thing is realizing the baseball's first and important and so you know doing that every day and then
22:03 --> 22:29 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, just trying to be generous for my time and make sure that, you know, we have a good group of people around here, not just baseball players, but, you know, media and, and obviously all of, you know, baseball family that comes in, just spring training, which everybody knows it's, it's a lot of people in and out every day and you just try to, you know, this is the time of year where that's going on and you just prepare yourself for it and it is what it is always good to see everybody so.
22:29 --> 22:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Have you found a perfect way to manage it all?
22:32 --> 22:34 [SPEAKER_02]: There's probably no perfect way, but you've found some formula to manage it all.
22:35 --> 22:43 [SPEAKER_03]: I think when you just let your guard down or when you get away from it, you get away from it for good.
22:43 --> 22:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, when you're at the field, you're turned on 247, so there's no really downtime at the field per se.
22:51 --> 22:58 [SPEAKER_03]: You have a few moments to yourself, but for the most part, it's a full blown go.
22:58 --> 23:02 [SPEAKER_01]: You feel like the most available Superstar in Major League Baseball.
23:03 --> 23:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Does that sound accurate?
23:05 --> 23:09 [SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't say Superstar, but we will.
23:09 --> 23:09 [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to.
23:10 --> 23:10 [SPEAKER_01]: We can guess you out.
23:11 --> 23:28 [SPEAKER_03]: No, I mean, I just, you know, like I said, I just, you know, I want to, you know, I think you have a, you know, you have a duty, you have a job and our responsibility to people and to kids that are watching this game and to give them your best,
23:30 --> 23:59 [SPEAKER_03]: A lot of people will probably ask you about winning the MVP or not winning the MVP and I'm sure you've gotten a million questions about it So let me let me spin it a different way how relieved were you for the all the online discourse about it to finally end I saw Yeah, I saw a lot of it, but I try to stay away from the online stuff I try to stay away from the good and the bad so I think if you can kind of do that because you hear a lot of guys typically talk about the bad stuff that kind of comes up
23:59 --> 24:06 [SPEAKER_03]: But I think if you, if you don't read the good and you don't read the bad, you can't even yourself out, you know, so I think that was big.
24:07 --> 24:18 [SPEAKER_03]: But there's just some stuff you're just going to avoid, like, you know, throughout our club house, you know, typically TVs are on and it will be network and just because guys are watching baseball keep it up with it and you see it every day and it is what it is.
24:18 --> 24:23 [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, I just never wanted it to be really a distraction to the team because, you know, we're doing some really special things.
24:23 --> 24:27 [SPEAKER_03]: And I think we did a good job of, you know,
24:27 --> 24:31 [SPEAKER_03]: handling that, I think, uh, everybody here with the Mariners too, so.
24:31 --> 24:39 [SPEAKER_02]: So you avoided all the tweets of people saying things like we're gonna count Cal Raleigh's the H days and hold it against them because there were real Yankees fans doing that.
24:39 --> 24:52 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no, yeah, I don't I really don't I try to say away from Twitter There are some really I'm I'm I'm really into the funny videos so I'll say with the the funny videos and not the Not the Twitter show.
24:52 --> 24:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Have you seen the one of of Cartman in your jersey?
24:56 --> 24:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Somebody made it a couple weeks ago.
24:57 --> 24:58 [SPEAKER_03]: You saw that one now.
24:58 --> 25:01 [SPEAKER_03]: It's funny because now everything that pops up
25:01 --> 25:10 [SPEAKER_03]: Now, everything that does pop up now, I get it like eight different times in like eight different group chats or So all my friends are sending it to me different like I got my college buddies.
25:10 --> 25:12 [SPEAKER_03]: I got my High school buddies.
25:12 --> 25:16 [SPEAKER_03]: I got Minor league, but so I have groups of friends and now send me the same stuff.
25:16 --> 25:17 [SPEAKER_03]: So I see it a bunch.
25:17 --> 25:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that reminds me I wrote this down months ago, but we met a few of your friends at all star week and they said if you ever got Cal on the podcast Can we get a shout out?
25:25 --> 25:29 [SPEAKER_02]: I think their names were chas, maybe there was zeb
25:29 --> 25:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Couple others.
25:29 --> 25:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, those guys are all sir week.
25:31 --> 25:32 [SPEAKER_03]: Chaz, Zab and Brett.
25:32 --> 25:33 [SPEAKER_03]: Nice.
25:33 --> 25:35 [SPEAKER_03]: Actually, Chaz and Brett are out here right now.
25:35 --> 25:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh nice.
25:36 --> 25:39 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they came out to they never been to Arizona, Spring Training.
25:39 --> 25:47 [SPEAKER_03]: So they're they're coming out here to enjoy it and I got a show around the complex yesterday and and yeah, they're they're good high school buddies of mine.
25:47 --> 25:49 [SPEAKER_02]: Did I hear that we're hitting them the trajectory machine or they were standing there?
25:49 --> 25:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, they were here yesterday.
25:51 --> 25:58 [SPEAKER_03]: So they were I put them on the scene and one point at AppStay and the other one
25:58 --> 26:01 [SPEAKER_03]: But it was a good tiny group for my school and it's good to have my hair.
26:01 --> 26:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Are we going to get you a American themed nickname?
26:05 --> 26:07 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, it's WVC.
26:07 --> 26:08 [SPEAKER_03]: It's W guys.
26:08 --> 26:09 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't make my own nickname, so.
26:10 --> 26:10 [SPEAKER_01]: America's Dumper?
26:10 --> 26:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, America's Dumper.
26:11 --> 26:13 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's going to be the popular one.
26:13 --> 26:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that makes sense.
26:14 --> 26:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to think like America runs on Dumpin.
26:16 --> 26:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Like I think that one works too.
26:18 --> 26:18 [SPEAKER_01]: It's so very, yeah.
26:18 --> 26:20 [SPEAKER_01]: We don't have Dunkin Donuts, though, in Washington.
26:20 --> 26:21 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
26:21 --> 26:21 [SPEAKER_03]: It's a Starbucks place.
26:22 --> 26:23 [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.
26:23 --> 26:26 [SPEAKER_01]: So if you guys think of any ideas for Cali, you can leave them in the comments below.
26:26 --> 26:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I do think America's Dumper kind of works.
26:29 --> 26:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think we can give you Captain America label?
26:31 --> 26:35 [SPEAKER_03]: Um, no, I think I had to do something first to do.
26:36 --> 26:39 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, if I do something cool on WC, then 60 homers.
26:39 --> 26:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Trader.
26:40 --> 26:41 [SPEAKER_03]: That was pretty cool.
26:41 --> 26:42 [SPEAKER_03]: He didn't do that.
26:42 --> 26:43 [SPEAKER_01]: That's that's fair point.
26:43 --> 26:44 [SPEAKER_03]: That's Captain America where they sell.
26:44 --> 26:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Does the team have a captain?
26:46 --> 26:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Like a like a like someone who actually is going to have like a sea on their chest.
26:49 --> 26:52 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if there'll be a C per say.
26:52 --> 26:53 [SPEAKER_03]: I think judge is the captain though.
26:53 --> 26:59 [SPEAKER_03]: I think I think he was like the first one to announce he was playing And I'm pretty sure they made him I have to make sense right now.
26:59 --> 27:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Here's another WBC question for you that I'm again I'm sure you've been peppered with them, but one that's probably a little out of the box Are you gonna have any beef with Clayton Kershaw when you're there because this dude for no reason during all star week was miced up and he was taking shots at you
27:13 --> 27:15 [SPEAKER_03]: No, it's a, I thought it was pretty funny, actually.
27:15 --> 27:19 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you hit like 102 mile an hour screamer against them.
27:19 --> 27:22 [SPEAKER_02]: And he comes off them now and like he just made you throw your bat.
27:22 --> 27:32 [SPEAKER_03]: Now, it was kind of funny because I think I ambushed him first pitch, so, so, all, it was, I thought it was really funny when he said that, in the way he said, suck it down, prayer or something like that.
27:32 --> 27:33 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, suck it, big dump.
27:33 --> 27:36 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think you could cross him up as, it like in some bullpens as retaliation.
27:37 --> 27:41 [SPEAKER_03]: No, that guy's a legend, so that was, honestly, that was really cool.
27:41 --> 27:46 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, the, the little kid in me is like, oh my god, a clear shot, it's calling me out on.
27:46 --> 27:48 [SPEAKER_03]: or being funny about it.
27:48 --> 27:49 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, all start game everybody's having a good time.
27:49 --> 27:52 [SPEAKER_03]: So, he had a good joke about it, and that was cool.
27:52 --> 27:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Had you got to interact with him ever before?
27:55 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, yeah, I got to meet him that week.
27:57 --> 28:11 [SPEAKER_03]: So, earlier, I think two or three, two days before, my sister's a big, Clayton Kershaw fan, she loves him, and I introduced my sister to him, and he was very gracious with his time, and a great guy, and so it's cool to get to meet him.
28:11 --> 28:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Have you talked to Game about this?
28:12 --> 28:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Game is dying to meet him.
28:14 --> 28:14 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, is it?
28:14 --> 28:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
28:14 --> 28:16 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure he's a California kid.
28:16 --> 28:17 [SPEAKER_03]: So it makes sense.
28:17 --> 28:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
28:17 --> 28:19 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm I'm dying to meet everybody.
28:19 --> 28:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, I mean, what a locker room to be a part of and to get to, you know, we're getting close turn closer and I'm getting, you know, more and more excited by the day.
28:27 --> 28:31 [SPEAKER_01]: So they'll, did you watch the last WBC where you'll walk into that?
28:31 --> 28:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was, it was my, it was a, it was a 20, 20, 30.
28:36 --> 28:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Going into 23.
28:37 --> 28:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
28:38 --> 28:45 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so I remember I was watching it pretty much every night in the spring training with with my roommates and Yeah, it was fun.
28:45 --> 28:48 [SPEAKER_03]: It was just even even the non-American games.
28:48 --> 28:53 [SPEAKER_03]: The watching you know the Miami The pressure was a DR and who else was in that?
28:53 --> 28:54 [SPEAKER_03]: D.R.
28:54 --> 28:54 [SPEAKER_03]: and Mexico.
28:54 --> 28:58 [SPEAKER_02]: Well before you guys were teammates Randy Robb to home run That was why anything.
28:58 --> 28:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Randy.
28:59 --> 29:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was it was a great.
29:00 --> 29:04 [SPEAKER_03]: It was I mean, it's great for the game So I think everybody will want to tune in and watch it.
29:04 --> 29:05 [SPEAKER_03]: It's awesome
29:05 --> 29:11 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if people think about these things that much when you start to really become famous, so to speak.
29:11 --> 29:14 [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm curious to ask you about it when you get to the place that you're at.
29:15 --> 29:18 [SPEAKER_02]: Can you still do things like going to restaurants on your own?
29:19 --> 29:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Can you still do that like in Seattle?
29:22 --> 29:23 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean.
29:25 --> 29:30 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm not really like, not really like going out and like trying to like pronounce that I'm at a restaurant.
29:30 --> 29:33 [SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, but if you just happen to show up, maybe you and friends want to go out to dinner.
29:34 --> 29:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'll say, yeah, I mean, yeah, I get noticed a lot, but you know, I do, I'm like an average looking dude.
29:41 --> 29:51 [SPEAKER_03]: So I don't, it's, it's not too bad, but I do get, I do get recognized a lot, but I will say that fans are for the most part really, really good about like,
29:52 --> 29:59 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, coming up with being nice and, and, you know, obviously, you know, if I mean dinner, respect in the space, yeah, which is no big deal.
29:59 --> 30:02 [SPEAKER_03]: I want people to come up and say something and it's good.
30:02 --> 30:11 [SPEAKER_03]: It's all good things and you just get the, you get the, like, the one random fan every once a while that'll, you know, make a scene or, or cause some problems here and there.
30:11 --> 30:14 [SPEAKER_03]: But it's, like I said, it's, it's good for the most part.
30:14 --> 30:17 [SPEAKER_01]: So you don't need to put a reservation down under a teammates name.
30:18 --> 30:21 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't put my my name down as a for a reservation.
30:21 --> 30:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Did you a fake name.
30:22 --> 30:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you have to say what they're not Say why this but the but a fake name.
30:26 --> 30:33 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's my my inner friend group will now so they I've told them a few times Yeah, do you ever think about just putting put in one of your teammates names down?
30:34 --> 30:36 [SPEAKER_03]: No, I wouldn't do that now.
30:37 --> 30:42 [SPEAKER_03]: I like the name that I use so it's pretty clever I mean Russell Wilson used to put Michael Bennett's name down apparently.
30:42 --> 30:43 [SPEAKER_02]: Michael Bennett.
30:43 --> 30:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I feel like that would it's You're losing the The whole point of it.
30:48 --> 30:54 [SPEAKER_01]: You're kind of like kind of goes away I don't know what I thought it was a little early though I don't think Michael Bennett was like as famous.
30:54 --> 30:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
30:54 --> 31:02 [SPEAKER_02]: So like a younger player So like it kind of you know kind of worked out Yeah, you can put Logan Evans name down if you want he won't care that we say that yeah, put his name down
31:02 --> 31:06 [SPEAKER_03]: I think I'll just avoid it at this point, I won't do it.
31:07 --> 31:09 [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe one day, I don't know.
31:10 --> 31:16 [SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like a lot more guys on this team, especially in the last maybe year, maybe two years, have really made it a point to make Seattle home.
31:16 --> 31:20 [SPEAKER_01]: You've now made Seattle your home with the contract extension.
31:21 --> 31:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Was there someone who led that?
31:22 --> 31:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Was there someone who, I guess, you asked around about to live in Seattle in the Seattle area full time or was this something you feel like you've been a part of leading?
31:34 --> 31:34 [SPEAKER_03]: Ah, you're dumb up.
31:35 --> 31:35 [SPEAKER_03]: The contractor.
31:36 --> 31:39 [SPEAKER_01]: You're just even just staying in living in Seattle, Seattle area, you're around.
31:40 --> 31:57 [SPEAKER_03]: No, I think, you know, I think being a part of it and I think for baseball players in general, you're one phone call away from getting traded all the time, non-conjunct guys that is, you know, first, first six years when you only have no control of where you're going or your decision.
31:57 --> 32:09 [SPEAKER_03]: So, so I think, you know, I love Seattle, I did and to me it was just, I bought a place down here in Arizona just because I love being at the complex and being around here and that was kind of the first step.
32:09 --> 32:23 [SPEAKER_03]: Second step was being fully invested in Seattle and when I signed that contract, it made, you know, it was a no-brainer to, you know, be fully invested in the community and the city up there and to make it a home.
32:23 --> 32:27 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think a lot of the fans appreciate it too when you do something like that.
32:27 --> 32:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I love it.
32:28 --> 32:46 [SPEAKER_03]: I love getting to go to cracking games and see all games and, you know, just being around the city and getting to do cool cool things and, you know, do, you know, when I do a time, you know, doing things around the community and helping out and just being a good voice and presence there, so that was a super bowl.
32:46 --> 32:46 [SPEAKER_03]: It was fun.
32:46 --> 32:51 [SPEAKER_03]: I will say, kind of overrated those Super Bowl.
32:51 --> 32:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Really?
32:51 --> 32:52 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's corporate, right?
32:52 --> 32:56 [SPEAKER_03]: It's very corporate, so that's my hot tank for the day.
32:56 --> 32:58 [SPEAKER_02]: But did you like the NFC title game better?
32:58 --> 33:01 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yes, 100% it was way better.
33:01 --> 33:02 [SPEAKER_02]: I think NFC title games and AFC title games.
33:03 --> 33:13 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we had a great time, don't give me wrong, but as far as, from strictly a fans, one of you being completely objective and not having
33:13 --> 33:29 [SPEAKER_03]: not having a dog in the fight like which I did I mean I was rooting for that hoax obviously but um it's just like you know there's not real fans there and it's just it's very like everybody's taking pictures and and the lot of it got was during the national anthem which was awesome it was a sick part of it but like
33:29 --> 33:43 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's just not, yeah, I feel like, you know, you really have maybe like 10% C-Ox fans, 10% Patriot fans, and then you got like 80% just random people there just to be there because they are part of the corporate world like he said so.
33:44 --> 33:45 [SPEAKER_02]: All right, trust me here.
33:45 --> 33:47 [SPEAKER_02]: Brian, we was rooting for them to lose, right?
33:48 --> 33:48 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's see, Hawks?
33:48 --> 33:49 [SPEAKER_02]: No.
33:49 --> 33:50 [SPEAKER_02]: No, really?
33:50 --> 33:52 [SPEAKER_02]: No, he's not going to say it on camera.
33:52 --> 33:52 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
33:53 --> 33:57 [SPEAKER_02]: He's the only one not in C-Hawks gear in that picture with Adam and all you guys.
33:57 --> 33:58 [SPEAKER_02]: And he grew up in Niner's family.
33:58 --> 33:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I wouldn't blame the guy.
33:59 --> 34:00 [SPEAKER_02]: It's up for speculation.
34:01 --> 34:02 [SPEAKER_02]: Thanks a lot.
34:02 --> 34:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll have to ask him direct.
34:04 --> 34:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
34:04 --> 34:05 [SPEAKER_02]: You guys got to ask him that yourselves.
34:06 --> 34:07 [SPEAKER_02]: We asked Logan the same question.
34:07 --> 34:13 [SPEAKER_02]: But we'll ask you, how would you describe your relationship and how it's evolved over time?
34:14 --> 34:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think, it started, it's crazy.
34:17 --> 34:27 [SPEAKER_03]: It just kind of started here at a minor league, a minor league offseason camp, and we room together.
34:27 --> 34:29 [SPEAKER_03]: And it was kind of about design.
34:29 --> 34:32 [SPEAKER_03]: I was like, yeah, like when they asked me, like, is anybody want a room with?
34:32 --> 34:37 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, I know a few guys are playing an effort, but I didn't get to meet Logan, and he's from Stetson.
34:37 --> 34:39 [SPEAKER_03]: He's the first rounder, like, a pitcher.
34:39 --> 34:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Like, I wanna get to know this guy.
34:41 --> 34:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Like, I feel like we should,
34:42 --> 34:47 [SPEAKER_03]: We should probably be getting to know each other a little bit because we'll probably be gone.
34:48 --> 34:50 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, if everything goes to plan, be going in the same direction.
34:50 --> 34:55 [SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, it's involved into a great friendship, not just a teammate kind of thing.
34:56 --> 35:06 [SPEAKER_03]: I was in his wedding, I got to, you know, come up with him, he's got to come up with me, we've learned each other a lot, and I definitely feel like I know him almost better than anyone.
35:06 --> 35:13 [SPEAKER_03]: So, I do love, I do love that camaraderie that I get to have with the guys here, it's not just the transactional thing, or just something that...
35:13 --> 35:24 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm here because, you know, because it's, you know, it's forced here, money was raised because I like the people and this is like a family environment.
35:24 --> 35:29 [SPEAKER_01]: So how do you guys go about discussing like what pitches he's going to throw on what he should have in his repertoire?
35:29 --> 35:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Because for when he tries to, I guess, add a sinker, add his cutter.
35:33 --> 35:36 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you, you have a big say in what he does end up throwing.
35:36 --> 35:37 [SPEAKER_01]: So how does that work?
35:37 --> 35:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, it's like a rapport, I mean, you know, at the end of the day, he's the one on the mound, it's his game, like he has to be convicted in what he's throwing.
35:48 --> 35:58 [SPEAKER_03]: My job is to help kind of filter that and like get it down to a very much much simpler and like how do we win this game, how do we win this pitch, what do we
35:58 --> 36:20 [SPEAKER_03]: What's the best, you know, thing for you right now, and, you know, like I said, there's going to be times where we're completely on the same page every single day, and there's going to be some other days where maybe we have a few disagreements about what's going on, but, you know, we communicate really well, so it's not, you know, it's never like point the finger at all, it's, it's usually pretty good, and, you know, I have a lot of faith in him and what he's doing, and it's just,
36:20 --> 36:34 [SPEAKER_03]: you always practice he puts in more work than anybody so um i think he's he's gotten lots smarter too over time he's he's become a real pitcher and somebody who knows how to pitch knows how to get people out and can uh he knows himself in anybody so what do you think of his cutter?
36:35 --> 36:36 [SPEAKER_03]: It's it's new.
36:36 --> 36:38 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I haven't caught in the game yet.
36:38 --> 36:45 [SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, he threw a couple of years ago to so, you know, I mean, we'll see it's TBD.
36:45 --> 36:59 [SPEAKER_03]: I think there's definitely some some some pockets of players and teams where you could definitely use it and have some have some success with it, but I think it's just going to be takes and practice and get some comfortability with it.
36:59 --> 37:01 [SPEAKER_02]: You haven't totally shut it down yet, it's what I'm hearing.
37:01 --> 37:03 [SPEAKER_03]: No, I don't, I don't shut any pictures down, I just don't call them.
37:03 --> 37:06 [SPEAKER_03]: So, that's their job to shut them down.
37:06 --> 37:22 [SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah, I mean, it's like that with everybody though, you know, guys want to, but it's a good thing, it's that you want guys trying to improve, trying to get better each day and continuing to find ways to maybe get a slight edge here, slight edge there.
37:22 --> 37:24 [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, I do appreciate that pictures do that.
37:25 --> 37:28 [SPEAKER_03]: At the same time, you got to, you got to know your bread and butter,
37:28 --> 37:40 [SPEAKER_03]: and know your best pitch versus your worst pitch and not that you can't tell your worst pitch, but you know, being smart when you use in and knowing the times and places to use it is definitely something we talk about.
37:40 --> 37:54 [SPEAKER_01]: A year ago when you signed your extension, you wanted to see sort of, you wanted to know everything there was about the organ, you wanted to see the investment that they had in you be the same everywhere else if you were going to commit here long-term.
37:54 --> 37:57 [SPEAKER_01]: How do you feel that has shown in the last year?
37:58 --> 37:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was great.
37:58 --> 38:05 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, getting talked to those guys upstairs about that were, I mean, he's were great.
38:05 --> 38:15 [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, they put together, you know, very good points and good, kind of, you know.
38:14 --> 38:35 [SPEAKER_03]: a good layout of you know what the future was going to hold and we had here now what their plan was in the future what they have in the farm and and you know it's a good it's a good really good combo you know we have lots of good young talent here we have good lots of good players in their prime here we got some good uh uh uh uh uh uh uh
38:35 --> 38:37 [SPEAKER_03]: You know better in guys.
38:37 --> 38:40 [SPEAKER_03]: I think we just got a good mix and that's a good good combo.
38:40 --> 38:45 [SPEAKER_03]: I think and and you know They've ever since you know that meaning they've stayed true.
38:45 --> 39:01 [SPEAKER_03]: They were and You know, I like to think that I've stayed true to my work, too, you know I think a lot of the time we like to look at you know strictly one side But I think it's important to also realize that you know The players are the ones playing and and we have to be held accountable to to
39:01 --> 39:03 [SPEAKER_03]: to how we're performing and how we're doing.
39:03 --> 39:06 [SPEAKER_03]: So I think that's also a really big point.
39:06 --> 39:09 [SPEAKER_03]: And I feel like we held her into the bargain last year.
39:09 --> 39:14 [SPEAKER_03]: And it's going to be continuing to do that in continue, partnership, and not just one side versus the other.
39:14 --> 39:21 [SPEAKER_02]: So any prospects that jumped out to you, because at least as far as the story goes, like you were really curious in some of the young guys coming through the minor league system.
39:21 --> 39:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Whether it's guys you've learned about, guys you've gotten to see it spring training, any of them jump out?
39:27 --> 39:30 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is a, it's a really exciting young group.
39:31 --> 39:35 [SPEAKER_03]: I think just the way they play, you know, they play very energetic, hair on fire.
39:35 --> 39:37 [SPEAKER_03]: They can do multiple things.
39:37 --> 39:40 [SPEAKER_03]: They're not, they're not a one-dimensional type prospect, you know what I mean?
39:40 --> 39:43 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, these guys are, are fun to watch.
39:43 --> 39:45 [SPEAKER_03]: They can, they can move the ball around.
39:45 --> 39:47 [SPEAKER_03]: They can, they can spray the ball all fields.
39:48 --> 39:51 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, they have different weapons here and there they can play defense, you know.
39:52 --> 39:53 [SPEAKER_03]: They're not just a bad or not just a,
39:53 --> 40:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Defender, not just a runner, so he's guys are they have lots of tools and they're fun to watch and and You know like I said it's it's it's always tough coming up to the big leagues because you never really know what you're gonna get Because everybody reacts differently to it and and sometimes it takes a long time sometimes You guys have success right away, so you know, it's it's gonna be interesting, but like I said It's a it's a good group, you know, both hitters and pictures and
40:16 --> 40:24 [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, it was part of also another reason, you know, looking, looking when I was signing here, I was like, all right, this is, this is something you could build on.
40:24 --> 40:25 [SPEAKER_03]: This is something you could see in the future.
40:26 --> 40:33 [SPEAKER_03]: And, and the Mariners Vatico track record of, you know, good minor league players and having success with guys coming up like that.
40:33 --> 40:36 [SPEAKER_01]: So you look Steven said a bit and putting in a ton of work together.
40:36 --> 40:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Where do you kind of see your role with him?
40:39 --> 40:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I know when I was a young player and I was at age, I wanted, I knew I know how I wanted to be treated, right?
40:47 --> 40:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Like you want to be treated like like a teammate and like somebody like I wanted to help and I wanted to learn and I wanted to see how big the guys do it and and I've seen guys
40:59 --> 41:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Treat me well if you guys not treat me well and and everything in between and you you remember The guys that showed you the way and you have our responsibility to the young guys to give them your best and and that's what we're trying to do I'm trying to you know I want to help out as many guys as I can.
41:16 --> 41:21 [SPEAKER_03]: I want it because this is nobody's I'm not looking for You know somebody to fail.
41:21 --> 41:24 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm looking for everybody to have success because we're all in this together
41:24 --> 41:32 [SPEAKER_03]: And ultimately, like, if Luke Stevens is going to help this team win one day, I need to help him and it's my responsibility to help him come along as fast as possible.
41:32 --> 41:38 [SPEAKER_03]: And for him to become the best player he can, and I need to help him give him everything I got every single day.
41:38 --> 41:40 [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, I expect one day when...
41:40 --> 41:51 [SPEAKER_03]: if he's ever, you know, where I'm in, where I'm at, or he's a, you know, a big leader, wherever he's at, you know, then if it's here, if it's somewhere else, and I hope he would do the same for that young catcher.
41:51 --> 41:54 [SPEAKER_03]: So, and I think that we have a lot of good guys to do that around here.
41:55 --> 41:57 [SPEAKER_02]: What do you think that doesn't happen more places?
41:57 --> 41:59 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I guess we're two dumb podcasters.
41:59 --> 42:00 [SPEAKER_02]: We don't know everything.
42:00 --> 42:03 [SPEAKER_02]: But I feel like you don't see everywhere.
42:03 --> 42:09 [SPEAKER_02]: You doing what you do, especially with other stars or with other players at their position with really, really taking guys under their wing.
42:10 --> 42:12 [SPEAKER_02]: Like, you've really made it a point to do that, right?
42:12 --> 42:18 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I guess I'm trying to help as many people as I can because I know like I'm invested here long term.
42:18 --> 42:32 [SPEAKER_03]: I want to give everything I can and and like I said, you have a even obligation to the game of baseball like you know and I think it also comes down to just being a good person like ultimately like you know you remember those people that helped you and you also remember those people that didn't help you and
42:32 --> 42:55 [SPEAKER_03]: that you wish maybe to give you a little more and so I just knew that when I was like one day if I'm ever in that situation like I want to I want to be a resource for somebody somebody that you know uh guys can feel comfortable with and guys can't go up to and ask questions and have conversations with and it's also a total win here we're trying to win a World Series and you know if we can get more buy-in and more uh you know
42:55 --> 43:19 [SPEAKER_03]: more compatibility and we can get guys more comfortable around here than I'm all for because I want you know I want to win that's it's old to go and you know I think that's what people remember we got a couple fun ones here for you that and then that's all I got could you rank your top three homeruns of last year I don't know I mean
43:20 --> 43:23 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think the easy answer is 60.
43:24 --> 43:30 [SPEAKER_03]: That's what will be my pick for number one, 60, 50, 55 and 57.
43:30 --> 43:49 [SPEAKER_03]: I specifically remember those because they've been brought up to Mila and obviously 60 was 60 and it was the night we clenched the West and won for the first time 20 years and celebrated
43:50 --> 43:54 [SPEAKER_03]: That was really cool, just because like making man on me like sure.
43:54 --> 44:01 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I grew up and I had like his, I did like a plaque of his bait, like a baseball card and like like all his accomplishments.
44:01 --> 44:02 [SPEAKER_03]: I remember me and my dad got it.
44:02 --> 44:17 [SPEAKER_03]: He took me to old young, he stayed in before the shutdown and I remember he bought that for me because I was switching and he's like, if you one day and I'm like, yeah, I'm a kid I'm like, I can be like me, but I mean, to do something like that, it's crazy.
44:17 --> 44:17 [SPEAKER_03]: And then,
44:18 --> 44:19 [SPEAKER_03]: 57 passing graffiti.
44:19 --> 44:32 [SPEAKER_03]: That's a cool one and then I thought so that 49 was it broke Salvi's record right what's the voice on runs you obliterated into the upper back catcher or is that for me?
44:33 --> 44:34 [SPEAKER_03]: I can't remember
44:34 --> 44:35 [SPEAKER_02]: You hit you hit two in a game.
44:35 --> 44:37 [SPEAKER_03]: I think it was the A's 14 4849.
44:37 --> 44:39 [SPEAKER_03]: You tied in and then broke it.
44:40 --> 44:43 [SPEAKER_03]: So, but that's really cool because like, you know, there's a catcher.
44:43 --> 44:45 [SPEAKER_03]: It's like that's a certain group.
44:46 --> 44:55 [SPEAKER_03]: So I think those are probably the easiest ones to say just because, but I will say another cool one I mentioned the other day with
44:56 --> 45:13 [SPEAKER_03]: Brock and Saul, before they all start game like when I didn't break any record, but somebody would be in like, oh, you're one, one or two shy from like Barry Bond's at the break, which is like another name, it's just like these names are just like absurd.
45:13 --> 45:17 [SPEAKER_03]: You're talking about the best players all the time and like I shouldn't be in that category with it.
45:17 --> 45:19 [SPEAKER_03]: I shouldn't be in the same sentence with them.
45:19 --> 45:23 [SPEAKER_03]: So just to do something that I was with special and you know, you remember those things.
45:23 --> 45:30 [SPEAKER_01]: What's the night you hit 16 out the coolest thing ever like loudener where they were walking around at the place You guys were there.
45:30 --> 45:40 [SPEAKER_01]: It was I mean it was a nine inning party because you hit the home run and hover deck in the first inning Yeah, and I think like you set off like a bottle rocket essentially in the crowd
45:40 --> 45:44 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was there was a fun night because I mean you guys probably know too.
45:45 --> 45:58 [SPEAKER_03]: You guys probably watching off Mary's games like we don't play a lot of like games where like we're up by a bunch of We play a lot of close games just fine, but um if like that night, you know, from the very beginning We're kind of in control of the whole game and
45:58 --> 46:08 [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, not necessarily celebrate early, but the fact that everybody could kind of, you know, enjoy the game and like we could see what was happening kind of unfold before us.
46:08 --> 46:16 [SPEAKER_03]: And then, you know, that last time I had a chance to do that and everybody was up on their feet and like, you don't forget those things.
46:16 --> 46:20 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I could say, I played dumb, be like, oh, no, I was thinking about it, but like, I was.
46:20 --> 46:31 [SPEAKER_03]: And like, you know, you see, you see the crowd and everything that was going on and then get us all around the field and so we're in the clubhouse and pop champagne and do the whole song and dance was, was amazing.
46:32 --> 46:39 [SPEAKER_02]: All right, so to follow that up, as cool as that was, loaded question, but what do you think it would mean to win a World Series here in Seattle?
46:40 --> 46:54 [SPEAKER_03]: It would mean, it would mean so much, it'd be so special just for, you know, to me, like, it'd be really special for the group here, the organization, obviously, but for the fans and the community.
46:54 --> 47:02 [SPEAKER_03]: I think that's what gives me, like, you know, goosebumps, gives me, you know, motivation to try to do that stuff, just because
47:02 --> 47:12 [SPEAKER_03]: It's, it would, it means so much, you know, it's never really been, you know, has ever been done and like, the culture or the winning.
47:12 --> 47:13 [SPEAKER_03]: It's just, it's never quite been there.
47:13 --> 47:18 [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, there's been some great teams here, you know, look at the 90s teams, look at the early 2000s teams.
47:18 --> 47:25 [SPEAKER_03]: It's some amazing teams and they were kind of doing the same thing that we're doing right now and we're looking to try to put it over the top and
47:25 --> 47:27 [SPEAKER_03]: try to try to finish the job.
47:27 --> 47:38 [SPEAKER_03]: So I think it would mean a lot and it would definitely it mean more just because you know I feel like we have a family and like a good group here and guys who are invested in the the Oregon, the city and and I think they would just mean a little more.
47:38 --> 47:40 [SPEAKER_03]: So it'd be really cool for Rick Ritz too.
47:41 --> 47:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Final year.
47:42 --> 47:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's just here so they'd be really cool to do it for him and you know what amazing career he's had so it's uh it'd be fun.
47:49 --> 47:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Cal, this has been an absolute pleasure.
47:51 --> 47:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for taking some time for us.
47:53 --> 47:58 [SPEAKER_01]: This has been a great experience for seeing your career and seeing where you're at right now.
47:59 --> 48:01 [SPEAKER_01]: And to hear this all for me, it was just, it's fantastic.
48:01 --> 48:02 [SPEAKER_01]: So thanks for taking some time for us.
48:02 --> 48:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, thanks for having me on, guys.
48:10 --> 48:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate it.
48:14 --> 48:16 [SPEAKER_01]: He is the busiest guy on the team by far.
48:17 --> 48:20 [SPEAKER_01]: You just see it when you're there all week and all the things he has to juggle.
48:21 --> 48:25 [SPEAKER_01]: But he's also the most available super star and baseball.
48:25 --> 48:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that comes out in this with the amount of questions we're able to ask him about a variety of things and how open and honest and thoughtful and
48:33 --> 48:46 [SPEAKER_01]: you know giving real answers for a lot of these things and I know all the fans appreciate it we appreciate it as people get to interview them as fans as well and we just as Seattle sports fans have gotten some really good superstars.
48:46 --> 48:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Cowrow is up there.
48:47 --> 48:51 [SPEAKER_01]: He might not want to call himself a superstar but we're going to call him superstars.
48:51 --> 48:55 [SPEAKER_01]: He's a superstar in every which way you could possibly conceive it.
48:55 --> 49:02 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he was signing autographs for every single fan for what must have been 20 minutes before we sat out with them.
49:02 --> 49:04 [SPEAKER_02]: He had time once he was done with everything.
49:04 --> 49:17 [SPEAKER_02]: There were fans hanging out around the complex that afternoon and evening and for the ones that were still there, he won by one, went around and was signing for basically every kid and every young fan that won an autograph from him.
49:17 --> 49:18 [SPEAKER_02]: It was pretty cool.
49:19 --> 49:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Ironically except for the guys with the the binders of cards.
49:24 --> 49:26 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, because you're giving it away when you do that.
49:27 --> 49:30 [SPEAKER_02]: When you have a binder of cards that usually says, I want to sell this.
49:31 --> 49:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and he didn't sell it.
49:33 --> 49:34 [SPEAKER_01]: But everything else, he got him.
49:35 --> 49:39 [SPEAKER_01]: He exchanged a really cool, like, mixed Florida statures.
49:39 --> 49:42 [SPEAKER_01]: He was like a half and a half calorie baseball Florida state jersey.
49:43 --> 49:45 [SPEAKER_01]: And that was the last thing he traded for a bat.
49:45 --> 49:50 [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, that's just the kind of thing Cal's gonna do for a fan who, like, he likes.
49:52 --> 49:54 [SPEAKER_02]: And he has a little bit of a sense of humor too.
49:54 --> 49:57 [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't always like to let it out, but sometimes he'll let it out.
49:57 --> 50:01 [SPEAKER_02]: I'll give you even one little peek behind the curtain if you guys are still listening by this point.
50:01 --> 50:02 [SPEAKER_02]: And hopefully you are.
50:02 --> 50:19 [SPEAKER_02]: But just to confirm with him on Friday, once he got done signing all the autographs and he's coming and walking by us and we're getting ready to set up and just to confirm with him as he's walking by, TJ says, yo, just to heads up.
50:19 --> 50:26 [SPEAKER_02]: We're ready whenever you're ready and he goes, what are you guys talking about and we're like, oh, oh, and he goes, now I'm just kidding He's like give me a couple minutes.
50:26 --> 50:28 [SPEAKER_02]: I'll be back out and then in my head.
50:28 --> 50:29 [SPEAKER_02]: I was like
50:30 --> 50:50 [SPEAKER_02]: you fucker like he was smiling the whole time so he knew exactly what he was doing yeah exactly no he didn't but that's what i mean he doesn't always like to let that out but he's got a little bit of a sense of humor when he decides he wants to use it so all the more reason to add to the cow rolly lore see out of so like Seattle is so lucky to have them and the mayor's fan base is really lucky to have them
50:50 --> 50:57 [SPEAKER_01]: And even if you're not able to grab like a sliver of his time as a fan, if you're trying to get him to sign, like just understand, like we're dead serious.
50:57 --> 51:01 [SPEAKER_01]: He has, he does so much all year.
51:02 --> 51:02 [SPEAKER_02]: It's crazy.
51:03 --> 51:04 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the Mariners need a lot from him.
51:05 --> 51:06 [SPEAKER_02]: His team needs a lot from him.
51:06 --> 51:07 [SPEAKER_02]: People around him.
51:07 --> 51:08 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure need a lot from him.
51:09 --> 51:11 [SPEAKER_02]: It's a hell of a lot to balance.
51:11 --> 51:12 [SPEAKER_02]: But if you talk to him, you never know it.
51:14 --> 51:15 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, pretty cool.
51:16 --> 51:20 [SPEAKER_02]: All right, that just about wraps up this edition of the Marine Lair podcast.
51:20 --> 51:23 [SPEAKER_02]: A very, very fun edition of the podcast.
51:23 --> 51:24 [SPEAKER_02]: I hope you guys enjoyed.
51:24 --> 51:25 [SPEAKER_02]: I hope you guys like the interview.
51:25 --> 51:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully that won't be the last time we get to sit out with them.
51:28 --> 51:30 [SPEAKER_02]: And hopefully down the road, we get to do it again at some point.
51:30 --> 51:31 [SPEAKER_02]: But...
